-I definitely had this big dumb smile on my face last night at 9pm when BIG BROTHER
(CFF) premiered and Julie Chen (aka the Chenbot) appeared in my family room. I think
I am still smiling...Some amazing twists in the first hour that completely change the
game. First we had 3 returning teams. Jeff & Jordan (America loves them and so do I),
Evil Dick (I won't put my childish BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD heh heh heh's after his name
every time I type it, but just know that I am laughing a bit every time) and his
daughter Danielle, who supposedly haven't spoken in 3 years. I am not sure if it's game
play or real, and the most awful couple ever...Brendan and Rachel. Somebody better
get them out right away. If that wasn't enough, there are 2 big game twists...A)
everyone in the house has been paired up and will be playing as a team and B) there is
now a Golden Key that saves you until the final 10...great way to keep the game fresh
and interesting. Again, the smile hasn't left my face yet. Can't wait for Sunday's
nominations.
- It is official, so I guess I could say, "you heard it here first", ALL MY CHILDREN and
ONE LIFE TO LIVE will get a second life thanks to an exclusive multiplatform deal
between ABC and Prospect Park. The licensing agreement allows Prospect Park to
produce and deliver new full-length episodes of the shows to consumers via online
formats and additional emerging platforms including IP-connected television sets. Both
shows were cancelled when ABC decided to replace them with health and lifestyle
shows. I bet there are a ton of people breathing a huge sigh of relief but also
scratching their heads as to how this will all work. I still think it is really interesting
and a great case study we should all follow. Can this model make money? We shall
soon find out. Congrats to all of you soap lovers and to the casts of both shows...it's
not over yet.
-I was really bummed when I read that MODERN FAMILY is looking to recast baby Lily
for this upcoming season. They are looking for an older version of her/them (they are
played by twins). I really do understand that for storyline purposes it pays to speed up
her aging, but I think what makes her so great is her deadpan looks and the fact that
she hasn't said a word since the show started (well one actually, but we will get to that
later). I am asking anyone out there in WWTM land who may know Steve Levitan and
the writers/producers of the show...Leave baby Lily alone, keep her and accept her the
way she is, let her stay and grow up on camera...we love her poker faced, non-
animated ways.
-Man I can't seem to get this GLEE recasting story right...well not just me, the articles I
read seem to be having this issue, and I just bring it to you...okay so here's the
correction...Chord Overstreet who plays Sam (the blond with the big lips) has not been
fired, he just wasn't promoted to a series regular the way Darren Chris and Harry Chum
were. So no worries Gleeks...Sam is safe for now. Again, I was actually fine with him
and Harry leaving, but I am fine with this too...I am not sure what my current feelings
for GLEE really are these days.
-For all of you PARENTHOOD fans, Jason Ritter who played Amber's teacher but had a
thing for her mother, Lauren Graham from GILMORE GIRLS, is coming back to the
show. I am actually really happy about this news, I love the chemistry between the
two of them and Jason really does look just like his Dad, John Ritter, which I can't
seem to get past for some reason. Good decision though.
-Opponents of media consolidation won a big victory last week, but apparently it has
taken me a while to hear about it and obviously report on it. The US Court of Appeals
tossed the FCC's rule that loosened the ban on newspaper-broadcast cross ownership.
It also ruled to keep the limits on the number of TV and radio stations a single
company can own in one market. In 2007, the ownership rules were modified to allow
a single company to own both a newspaper and a radio or TV station in the top 20
markets. The courts reversal comes as a blow to broadcasters and newspaper owners
who have maintained the rules a (which date back to 1975 before cable and the
internet) are outdated. I am sure more will come from this story.

-Friday's Trivia Question: Hearing lots of criticism on the trivia questions. To easy, to
hard, to many etc. So from now on, just one question, that requires one answer, if
there is more than one answer, it will be considered bonus and won't affect First Five
status. Oh and NO I am not expanding to First Ten. It doesn't sound as catchy and it
is better for the competition.
Baby Lily has pretty much been mute for her entire life, but in one episode she did
utter one word that wasn't very clear but it upset Mitchell and Cameron a great deal.
Any idea what she uttered?
