Deadliest Catch and the Chrisleys but tonight…BIG BROTHER and SUITS ARE BACK!!! FINALLLLY

THE ANSWER TO TUESDAY'S TRIVIA QUESTION:  The 90210 gang and the Saved by the Bell gang all graduated from California University. An additional graduate I was unaware of was Elle Woods from Legally Blond also graduated from California University. Thanks Alex Nagler for that very interesting info. Relief that so many of you got the Darren Stevens from Bewitched and Aunt Viv from Fresh Prince of Bel Air references. My faith in you all has been restored.

THE SHOWS
Deadliest Catch
If you're a fan of Deadliest Catch then you're totally relieved that drug addict and disgusting dude, Elliot Neese is gone from the Saga. I couldn't stand Elliot. I loved that he offered the Captain's job to Jake Anderson who's been on the Northwestern for years. Problem is that Jake literally JUST had his first child and had to leave his wife and son to go catch crab. At first he was psyched and so were we, but then he was freaking out a bit. He was nervous to go it alone and he was also suffering from severe chapped lips. I'm actually surprised more fisherman don't suffer from this serious affliction. The weather's tough on the lips.  Sig told Jake to "Man Up" and "Get Going" and Jake finally pulled out. I wish him luck but the scenes don't make things look good for Jake and his crew. Not sure what's worse, a tough Opilio season or a minute with Elliot Neese. Over on the other boats there were some problems to deal with. Wild Bill and his crew paid Sig back for stealing his boat last season by chaining the Northwestern to the dock. That was pretty funny. The Wizard was short staffed and took on a girl who's already puking her guts up and they haven't even begun hauling pots yet. The Cornelia Marie had to deal with some new rule that you need 8 rings in your pots vs. 4. Why that didn't come up with the entire fleet, I don't know. The Hilstrand brothers have holes in their pots and all of their crab are escaping. Just another season on the Bering Sea. Damn I love this show. Another one of those lives I couldn't lead. Not for a second.

Chrisley Knows Best
I'm sure that Savannah's appendicitis was real, but when she sent Todd to the Supermarket it had to be staged. I've never seen an emptier supermarket in my life. It had huge aisles, and no patrons. That had to be staged. Todd said he hadn't been in a Supermarket in 10 years. Really??? There's also no way that Todd's friend would let Chase run an open house with zero experience and zero training. Guessing now that he's been on the show, business will pick up so maybe that's how he justified it all to his bosses. Savannah milked her recovery a bit and had Todd running up and down in and in and out for ice cream and iced tea and free range chicken. I'm still watching but I think they might be crossing over from REAL to UNSCRIPTED…big difference in my mind.

THE OTHER STUFF

-Okay Hulu people, good news. Starting in July, you guys can add Showtime to your Hulu subscription and stream their programming to any of your devices. What I don't know is if this will cost you more than you're already paying. I'm assuming it will, but you'll get access to every episode of all the awesome Showtime programs like Shameless, Nurse Jackie, Episodes, Ray Donovan, Masters of Sex and more. Ya know, there's this notion that you can literally get any program you want anytime, anywhere, but the other day I wanted to watch Dirty Dancing (long story) Couldn't find it anywhere. With all the money I pay to Netflix, Hulu, Cable, and Amazon Prime, you'd think it would be a slam dunk right? NOPE, nobody puts baby in a corner and nobody puts Dirty Dancing on when you need it. So much for TV everywhere, right?

-Note to everyone and their mother who says TV is dead…according to the 1Q Nielsen Audience Report, TV is still the leader in weekly usage with 36 hours and 7 minutes. Compare that to smartphones which is at 7 hours and 17 minutes, PC's which were at 5 hours and 34 minutes or tablets which were at 3 hours and 34 minutes. We don't know how many of those overlap so I guess if you added up the phone, PC and tablet you get 15 hours and change but TV's still double the combined usage. TV ISN'T DEAD!

-Ashton Kutscher's going to be joining Shark Tank as a guest shark next season. Now that 2 and a Half Men's over and his daughter's sleeping through the night, time to get back to work and Shark Tank's a great gig for him since he's always been an investor in start-ups. He's had a pretty good track record too. Skype, AirBnb and Foursquare. Not just a pretty face, huh?

-TVLand changed it's logo and is going through a rebrand. With everyone focusing on Millenials, I gotta give TVLand credit for knowing who they're going after and doing what's necessary to connect with this audience of  Gen Xers who grew up on MTV and are looking for some edgier programming. Younger, with Sutton Foster is a great example of one of their newer shows targeting the bunch. I liked Younger but have issues with Sutton Foster and didn't stick with the show. Here's the new logo:

Wednesday's Trivia Question: I'm throwing out the theme for today and paying tribute to Dick Van Patten who played one of my favorite Dad's to 8 kids from 1977 to 1981. I LOVED EIGHT IS ENOUGH. What was the name of Dick's character on the show? For those of you that were saddened to hear about Dick's passing, here's a little something to help reminisce. For bonus points…name the singer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWMJoV0ozIM
