Don't Get Too Excited...I'm Not Back Full Time...But the Jets REALLY stunk and I had some time to kill

Hi Guys!

There really wasn't a GOOD time to end the blog.  I could have waited until Big Brother ended or for the Emmy's or until after all the new Fall shows premiered. I probably could have found a reason to keep prolonging the end until Christmas or New Years or the blog's 7 year anniversary in February. That's why I pulled the plug so abruptly. No slow build up, not countdown, no big sendoff... just done. Of course now...I have so much to say and share that I figured I'd just vomit it all out to give my brain a break and make some room to remember my keys and pick up Cetaphil on the way home from the office. I'm not sure how often I'll need to make brain space. It definitely won't be every day or even every week. When the feeling hits, this will be the result. I hope you're all still interested when I get the urge. Anyway, here's everything I need to get off my chest and out of my head.

Big Brother
Paul's an idiot. He got cocky, thought he could (and would) beat anyone and chose to go to the final two against Snoutlet Nicole instead of James. As much as I wanted James to win, his game wasn't great and Paul would have probably beaten him unanimously. As all of us BB fans now know, Paul made a $450K mistake. Did you see his face when Snoutlet Nicole won the money? He was SHOCKED! I hope he went home, shaved that beard and smacked himself REALLY hard in the face.

Ray Donovan
A bit of a boring season finale. Just happy that Javy's okay. Sort of lame that Abby's cancer miraculously disappeared and that nothing really happened with Connor and the gun or Bridget or even Mickey. I don't know...a bit disappointing overall really.

This is Us
Okay, please tell me you guys watched and LOVED this show. It started off with an awesome Milo Ventimiglia butt shot and just got better and better and ended with one of the best twists I can remember. No way anybody saw THAT coming. I don't want to ruin anything for anyone who hasn't watched yet, so I won't talk about the twist in detail. If you did watch it please tell me you loved it as much as I did!!!

The Good Place
Okay...I've had a Kristen Bell/Dax Shepherd crush for a while. I don't know when it started really.  I've never watched Veronica Mars or House of Lies and I haven't seen Bad Moms. Of course I saw Frozen but that wasn't it. I love Dax on Howard, I love that Dax is in love with Brad Pitt, and I love Dax and Kristen's Samsung commercials, but I think, the true crushing may have started when I saw this video:  Because of the crush, I tuned in to Kristen's new show on NBC, The Good Place, and I realllllly liked it. I'm not sure it can go on forever and ever but she's so damn cute and funny that I'm going to ride it out as long as I can.

Speaking of Brad Pitt...are you guys as obsessed with Brad and Angelina's divorce as I am? Why are we all so obsessed? I'll tell you why...because they're both two of the hottest humans on the planet. She's nuts, he's a stoner, they lead a pretty interesting life and have all those kids and all that money and Brad's look-a-like daughter wants to be his look-a-like son. I have a theory as to what the real problem is: Brad's pissed, really pissed, that he can never tap that wife of his because all those kids probably sleep in that custom giant bed they had built for the family.  I get it, Brad, I really do. It's toooo much. Too many kids, too many issues, too many frequent flyer miles, too much. No way Clooney says come to the lake and bring your 6 kids. No way! Brad's bummin, but mark my words, he'll be partying with Amal and George in Italy very soon and that will REALLY piss Angie off!

We love baseball in our house. I know this is a controversial statement, but I would say we love it more than any other sport. Yes...even more than football. So we were really looking forward to FOX's baseball drama, Pitch and to be honest, I am reallly rooting for Mark Consuelos. I feel like he lives in Kelly's shadow and needs something big.  This show's good enough to give him that, but nobody watched the premiere. It's good guys...check it out, give it a chance. Major League Baseball's in on it. There's real uniforms, scores, announcers and more. It's the story of the first female MLB player, Ginny Baker. Hoping you guys give this one a chance.

Married At First Sight: NICK is a dick...that's all I really have to say.

The Goldbergs
Breakfast Club tribute episode was awesome. One thing though...I thought Erica was a senior last year. They kept talking about college and where she was going to go and now, this year...she's still a senior. Did I imagine that? Could SWEAR she was a senior, but maybe I'm crazy.

Apparently, Garry Shandling's last wish was for the Larry Sanders Show to be available on HBO for everyone to check out. is. If you've never seen the show, it should definitely be added to your binge list. I think I need to add it to the WWTM one too. Of course I've seen um all, but I may need to rewatch them when I have the time. A true game changer.

Margot Robbie will host the SNL Season Premiere. Why?

Happy for Dice...Showtime renewed his show for a second season.

FX gave 2nd season renewels to Better Things (which I love) and Atlanta (which I don't)

Did you see Between 2 Ferns with Hillary Clinton? If need to:

Samantha Bee is getting better and better. Did you see last week's episode?

James Corden's must see clips:

Jimmy Kimmel's must see clips:

Notice how there aren't any Fallon must see clips???

Stephen Colbert had Bruce Springsteen on last Friday night. It was one of the best interviews with Bruce I've ever seen. If you're a Bruce fan, you NEED to watch

Okay...that's all I got for now...
I feel better and lighter and at this point I'm pretty confident that I'll know why I stopped at CVS on my way home from work.

Hope You'll Join Me for the Emmy's Tonight!!!

Hey Guys!
Hope you all had a great week!

I've been trying out some great NYC Restaurants, catching up with friends, going to the gym and chilling. Can't say I've made a healthy dinner yet but give me some time. Still keeping up with allllll my TV, just at a different pace. Sleeping a bit later, going to bed a bit earlier and seeing how this new no-blog life goes for a bit.

-Big Bro's down to the final 3-Of course I want James to win, but the best game has been played by Paul so if he wins I'm good. Nicole (aka Snoutlet) too...if she wins I'm okay with that. She's played a great game.

-Binged Queen Sugar. LOVE

-Watched a great documentary about the Marijuana industry in Denver called Rolling Papers. Highly Recommend that one!

-I'm in the middle of the Ron Howard Beatles Documentary, Eight Days A Week and LOVING IT!

-Looking forward to a few premieres this week especially, This is Us but right now I'm heading over to E! and some Emmy Red Carpet Coverage.

I've been posting stuff all week on the Watching Way Too Much Facebook page. Please check it out and join me for Emmy Red Carpet and then Emmy's LIVE COVERAGE!!!

Miss You Guys...but not enough to come back full time.

It's Time for a Change

September 13 2016

To All My Faithful Readers...

It's time for a change...

For the past few months I've been really struggling to keep this blog going. It's been getting tougher for me to stay awake each night to watch everything I feel I should be watching in order to provide relevant, timely commentary each day. Don't forget, I have a day job, a husband, a 15 year old son and 2 dogs.  I really feel like I'm sitting too much, exercising too little and putting other things aside so that I can watch TV.

I won't be completely silent.  I'm going to keep the Watching Way Too Much Facebook Page going with commentary, news, thoughts, clips etc. but I just don't think I can produce 5 blogs a week that are interesting, funny and timely any longer.

I have LOVED every minute of this endeavor. I'm grateful for the community this blog has created. I've really enjoyed all of your friendship, comments & support.  I want to thank you all for being part of this time in my life.

No idea what it will feel like without this space for all of my thoughts about the medium I love so much. Maybe I'll come back to it, but for now...I'm going to take an extended leave of absence and see if I get to the gym, cook healthier dinners, take more walks & see more of my friends.

I'm DEFINITELY going to be live for the Emmy's on if you aren't already a Facebook Friend...please check out the page.

Thank You All for Everything
Kristy Carruba

Congratulations to Stan Wawrinka on a huge US Open win! Pretty good tennis! My Jets lost, my Yankees lost but the Giants did pull out a win. Reading of the names on 9/11 always tough. Quite the Sunday...

Better Things
If you don't watch Louis CK's show, Louie, you might not know who Pamela Adlon is. You might recognize her voice from King of the Hill, Bob's Burgers, Phineas and Ferb and a bunch more. Finally, the woman's got her own show and I LOVE it. Better Things reminds me a little bit of Louis CK's show. He's a single dad with 2 daughters, working as a comedian. She's a single mom with 3 daughters working as an actress. The weird thing is, I don't love Louis's show but I think I might love Pamela's show. Maybe she's just more relatable? Or maybe she doesn't seem as pathetic as Louis? Check it out and let me know what you think.

Masters of Sex

I know after last season, I said I was giving up Masters of Sex, but Showtime had the Season 4 premiere episode available early so I decided to check it out JUST to be sure. Here's the thing...once Ray Donovan and Big Brother end, I could actually have some room on Sunday nights. The premiere episode was pretty boring. Bill's a mess, Virginia's a mess and Betty's the only one doing any work. Libby's angry and trying to find her way in the world without Bill by hangin out with man-hating bra burners. There were 2 interesting things about this episode. 1) The guy with the high heel shoe fetish and 2) Hugh Hefner. Hope they both stick around for awhile. The sex is still missing which is why I was going to give the show up in the first place. I haven't made my final decision yet, it's all going to come down to sex, scheduling and football.

Big Brother
  • Glad to see Cory and Snoutlet thinking correctly...if they want a shot at winning...they gotta get rid of Paul or Victor
  • Editor made 10 minutes of the butter slide comp seem like 10 hours
  • I love watching people does Victor.
  • APAULO Ono??? lame Victor, lame
  • Looked like Paul was pooping butter
  • Cory won HOH which could be good for James
  • James is missing Natalie. At least he has her flip flops to snuggle up to
  • Cory put salt in Snoutlet's water and she ended up spitting it all over him. Bad plan
  • Cory loves T Swift...awwww he wants to me a member of her squad . Pretty sure its girls only, Cory
  • Victor has a funny way of flirting with Nicole...spitballs to the glasses?
  • The BB house makes people do weird things like making a Snoutlet sandwich between Cory and Victor
  • Cory stayed up all night and cleaned the entire house like a crazy person just to keep the voices inside his head at bay. The question is: Did anyone notice?
  • It really annoys me that Snoutlet's eyebrows peak above her glasses
  • I like what Cory said "I'm playing Big Brother, not Big Baby"
  • Cory actually grew a pair of balls and put Paul and Victor up because as he so eloquently put it "Mama didn't raise no bitch" Great game play. Making a big move when a big move is needed could win this idiot the game.

Lip Sync Battle Live
There was a live Lip Sync Battle last night. I was pretty excited by the entire thing. 4 celebs perform one song each and America votes. Just like most of our elections though, this contest was also rigged. There's no way America voted for Michael Phelps. No offense, but for a guy who listens to music so intensely on his big headphones, you'd think he'd be able to actually lip sync to the song of his choice. Maybe it's the speech impediment or something but the guy should NOT have won the belt. Olivia Munn or John Legend should have taken the title, they were SO much better than Terry Crews or Phelps. Olivia Munn had Olympic gymnasts, John Legend had Stevie Wonder. Liked the new format, but hated the voting because I thought it was total BS!
Check out the performances:
Terry Crews "Fight the Power"
Olivia Munn "Have Fun Tonight"
John Legend "Hey Ya" with Stevie Wonder-Can't find this clip and he was better than Terry and Michael!
Michael Phelps "Lose Yourself"

-Denis Leary was really mean to me once. Karma's a bitch. His FX show,  Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll was canceled after Season 2. Bummer Denis.

-I have nothing at all against any of the women of Mistresses so I'm sorry their show was canceled even though I never watched it.

-I was truly shocked to read that Hell's Kitchen was renewed for its 18th season. 18 seasons!!! Who knew?

-The Creative Arts Emmy's were given out over the weekend. Peter Scolari, who was actually a replacement nominee, won for Best Guest Actor for Girls. The People vs. OJ won a bunch, Game of Thrones won a bunch, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler won for hosting SNL and James Corden won. Here's the full list of winners:

Yankees win, Broncos win Serena loses & guess who was evicted from the Big Brother house?

Big Brother

  • I think last night was Julie's best dressed night of the season
  • Love on the rocks for Jatalie
  • Love #butfirst
  • Sometimes James's hair looks super greasy
  • Hated Snoutlets sunglasses
  • Now Cory's my boy? I thought Paul was my boy
  • Jeff and Jordan...Jeff and Jordan. Married, preggers having a little boy who won't be named Sailor. They are the cutest
  • DaVonne's recap of what's been going on in the jury house was pretty funny
  • Paulie's closest ally was CORY? not Zakiyah? Ooooh that has to burn her butt
  • Paulie's hair in the house wasn't looking so good hope he gets it cut before finale night
  • Natalie's eviction speech and Julie chat was super annoying
  • If any part of Jatalie had to go home, I'm glad it was the ATALIE part
  • Do we think Natalie got sparkles all over Julie's dress?
  • Natalie def doesn't know what a soul mate is
  • What was up with the basil plant? I thought she was going to give it to Julie, but she just held on to that thing
  • Love the buttery slip and slide challenge but now we don't know who the HOH is. I really want James to win it

-The Last Ship's third season's just about over but no worries, they'll be setting sail for a 4th and 5th season. Another 2 season renewal.

-I reallllllly hope my friend Neil Moffatt watches this. Check out these iphone 7 losers on Jimmy Kimmel last night:

-Another funny Kimmel clip...This week "Sully" opens in theatres, but check out "Hanks"

-I was pretty sure I was giving Masters of Sex up this season, but the trailer they showed during Big Brother makes me want to check it out. Could they have fixed it? Ooooo I hope so.

The entire Summer season of Suits was all about getting out and staying in. Harvey getting Mike out of Prison, Mike getting Kevin out of prison, Cahill getting Mike out and making Mike stay. Harvey and Mike keeping Frank in prison and getting Sutter sent to prison. Rachel and Jessica were trying to get Leonard Bailey off death row. Did everyone forget that the firm was in ruins and had lost all of its clients? None of our Pearson Spector Litt buddies seemed worried about cutting back on expenses. Louis not only got Donna to mud with him, he actually wanted to spring for more mud time. Let's face it, upscale mudding's got to be pretty pricey. So where did we net out? Mike's out, Kevin's out, Frank's in and Leonard's on the bubble. Harvey didn't have to let his driver go and Louis actually got the girl. Mike was able to practice law from prison even though everyone knew he wasn't really a real lawyer. Not sure I understood any of that but okay, I went with it. No idea where Mike goes from here. Sure he and Rachel will spend some time snuggling in the apartment they didn't have to downsize and then what? Guess we'll have to wait a while to see how this all plays out. I'd really like Harvey to find love. Whether it's with Donna or someone else, I really need the show to wrap up soon. I'm ready. Are you?

Bigggggg Brother
  • Snoutlet and Cory make me sick
  • Snoutlet's crying in the diary room was a really ugly cry
  • Paul and his beard have Natalie's number DOWN. She's playing the ditzy dumb brunette really well. Unfortunately a little too late.
  • Macgyver plug, Macgyver plug. Name the actor who played the ORIGINAL Macgyver!!! BONUS POINTS PEOPLE
  • Does Natalie know the definition of Soul Mate?
  • Really enjoyed the Macgyvery challenge
  • Amazed Natalie figured out the challenge so quickly, see, she's really NOT a ditzy brunette, Paul was right!
  • Snoutlet doesn't know what mechanics are? Isn't she a nurse? Pretty scary that she doesn't know that but she handles the lives of human beings for a living.
  • BUMMMMMMER...Cory won the Veto from Natalie
  • I hate the final four alliance...
  • Natalie just laid out her "Soul Mate," James. proof positive she doesn't know what a Soul Mate is
  • It's GOTTA hurt to have your nipple tattooed
  • Shameless Macgyver plug during the Veto ceremony. Did James get paid for that one?
  • Of course Cory didn't use the Veto so who will go home tomorrow??? James or Natalie.
  • My money's on Natalie
  • I feel really bad for James...Natalie just totally jumped ship, blamed him for everything and broke his heart. Not cool Nat

  • Love at First Kiss
Is anyone out there watching this insanity? Yes, I know, I'm out of my mind and still watching this ridiculous show. I guess I just can't get over how truly screwed UP people are. I think I'm pretty good at telling if both parties enjoyed their kiss, but the kissees aren't good at sizing up the strangers lips at all. I can't believe how many of these idiots not only think the kiss was amazing, but that they may have just kissed THE ONE. The love of their life. Then we see the love of their life walk out the side door and into the parking lot. It's really pathetic sometimes. This is another show that needs a clock added to it. Seeing these freaks waiting for their dates on street corners for what seems like hours is really a waste of my timeThe Fall season really can't come soon enough. I need to move on from this train wreck and into something else. I was told to check out Atlanta on FX and Queen Sugar on OWN. Anyone on those yet? Of course...I should focus on finishing up Season 2 of Narcos rather than this piece of crap but that wasn't happening last night for some reason. What is wrong with me?
-Tyrant's DONE. Last night was the last episode ever. Another series finale nobody knew ws coming. I really do like this new strategy. I begged for the show to be cancelled midway through Season 2 which totally stunk. Guess someone got the message. Buh bye Barry!

-Sad about Tyrant? Don't be...good news...Bachelor in Paradise was renewed!

-Bridget Jones Baby. Is there ANYONE in the universe that hasn't seen the commercial for this movie? How much do you think the advertising budget for this thing was? I feel like I've been seeing the commercials for months. I'm also pretty sure that I know the entire movie with the exception of who the baby daddy really is just from the commercial. Patrick Dempsey or Colin Firth?  My bet is that we never find out the truth just like in The Night Of. I'm not going to see it, will someone let me know if I'm right?

-Kelly Ripa teased all of us losers about a biiiiiig annoucement today. Key word TEASE. No big co-host reveal. Not yet. First they're stringing us all along, probably through Sweeps with a big viewer co-host contest that I would TOTALLY enter if I didn't have a day job. Man would I love a crack at that gig. Morris Chestnut's been on the past 2 days and he's been pretty good. Next week, Busy Philips, Jussie Smollett, Mark Consuelos and Chris Pratt will all take turns in the co-host chair. I'm really hoping that Mark's new show on FOX called The Pitch, is a hit, but if it isn't, he's always good in the co-host chair, it just may not good for the dinner table.

Tuesday's Trivia Question: Gillian Anderson...aka Dana Skully from the X-Files and Jamie Dornan...aka Christian Gray from 50 Shades both star in this BBC Drama.

Rob Lowe Roast
Rob Lowe kept me up til midnight last night, not in the way I always dreamed of though. The Comedy Central roast of Rob was what kept me up laughing past my bedtime. No idea how they choose the roasters. I had no idea who Nikki Glaser, Jimmy Carr or Ann Coulter were. Nikki and Jimmy were actually pretty funny but Ann was somehow the star of this roast. She was roasted, ripped apart and skewered. Her reactions and non-reactions were priceless.  I can't imagine anyone would take so much abuse just to sell a book, but she sure did. Rob was a great sport throughout the entire event. His wife 2 sons and less attractive bro, Chad were all in the audience which had to be super awkward. Pretty sure every roaster brought up Rob's sex tape, the underage girls and the nanny lawsuits. The car ride home had to be pretty uncomfortable. Who knew Jewel was so funny? Pete Davidson was sporting some pretty crazy sneakers and seemed to be hammered mid way through the event. He spit out his drink a few times and really gave it to Ann Coulter. Jeff Ross is supposed to be the roast master, but this was one of his weakest performances I've ever seen. Peyton Manning was hilarious and took all the jokes about him and his massive head pretty well. Ralph Macchio, Rob's co-star from The Outsiders was on hand. He looks good, but wasn't the greatest. David Spade was on all the talk shows before the roast and said he hated hosting. You could tell. He wasn't taking any of the jokes well at all. I wouldn't say this was the best roast ever, but any excuse to look at Rob Lowe for 2 hours is fine by me.

Random Thoughts and Info from Vacation

I've been gone for sooooo long. Have you missed me? Vacation was a blast. Nothing like 2 weeks at the beach. The weather couldn't have been better and I won my family Mini Golf Tournament for the first time in 4 years. Huge win, the plaque's been ordered, ceremony TBD. While I was away, I watched a ton, read a ton and kept up with all my TV/Video news. Not sure how much you guys know already, so forgive the old stuff. I'm going to go with bullets just to keep things as flowing, so here goes:
  • Comedy Bang Bang's 5th season will be its last
  • Jim Gaffigan and his wife cancelled their show about their family to spend more time with their real family. Personally, I'd stay with the show. It's gotta be easier than being home with 5 kids.
  • The next season of Pretty Little Liars will be its last.
  • Grimm's next season will also be its last.
  • The Oscars will stay on ABC through 2028 in case you were nervous about them jumping ship
  • TLC renewed Too Close to Home. Never heard of it, never watched it.
  • Devious Maids was cancelled
  • AMC cancelled Feed the Beast and I feel like it's partially my fault. I watched it, I really liked it and I rarely told anyone how good it was. Sort of bummed. Feel bad for Schwimmer.
  • Connie Britton's leaving Nashville midway through CMT's upcoming season which means, I'm leaving Nashville midway through CMT's upcoming season.
  • Read Jon Cryer's book and found out that the word "Pompitous" featured in the Steve Miller tune "The Joker" is a nonsense word that Miller misheard from an old R&B tune called "The Letter." The guy that wrote "The Letter" made up his the nonsense word, "puppetu." Miller thought he said POMPITOUS. The word is supposed to mean "a secret that you only share with someone you truly love" Interesting, right?
  • Finished HBO's THE NIGHT OF. Felt totally gypped. I wanted a verdict. If I couldn't have a verdict, I needed to see what actually happened THE NIGHT OF THE MURDER. Totally pissed me off.
  • Gave in and watched all of STRANGER THINGS on Netflix. Loved it but it was way too scary for me. The kids were awesome. Loved Dustin, the kid with no teeth. Props to Wynona Ryder for comeback of the year, but it's BARB who seems to be receiving all the Internet love.
  • I'm obsessed with loving & hating Jeremy and Audrey Roloff. Now they're in a car commercial and it's infuriating.
  • The new online only Big Brother starts on 9/28. We'll get 24/7 access and a lot of influence over the game but the actual show will be a 1 day a week commitment which I can manage.
  • As for the current Big Brother...Paulie turned out to be a doosh, James screwed up BIG TIME and now I'm rooting for Paul even with that nasty ass beard.
  • Watched all of The Get Down. Felt nothing
  • Watched all of Casual. Thoroughly enjoyable
  • Watched the Kevin Bacon Amazon pilot, I LOVE DICK...Jill Holloway, the woman behind Transparent, is also behind this one. The only thing I like about the show is Kevin Bacon. Lets see if it gets picked up. Kevin's been all over the talk shows getting the word out which is a whole new thing. It's JUST a pilot, he's trying to get the votes.
  • Watched an amazing documentary called INVENTING DAVID GEFFEN. I could watch this thing 10 more times. So interesting.
  • Britney Spears Carpool Karaoke was awful...she didn't know the words to any of her own songs. Didn't see it? Here you go:
  • Barbra Streisand and Alec Baldwin on Jimmy Fallon just felt weird to me. Did you guys see it? No? Here you go:
  • The MTV VMA's were unwatchable. Other than Joe and Nick Jonas, nobody on the red carpet could speak intelligently. I could barely understand anything anyone said. There was a guy named Desiigner who just made screechy sounds. No real words that I could figure out. The show itself was pretty boring. Rhianna barely sang, but they gave her 3 different segments to perform. Beyonce got 20 minutes and Kanye got to introduce his new soft core porn video with a 4 minute nonsensical rant while his wife looked on. WTF happened to that show. Remember how good it once was? Remember when there were actual videos to give awards to? YOU TUBE PLEASE TAKE THIS OVER TOO!!!
  • Dancing with the Stars revealed the new cast. Nobody at all that would get me to watch: Ryan Lochte, Laurie Hernandez, Maureen McCormick, Marilu Henner, Babyface, Terra Jole, Jake T. Austin, Calvin Johnson, James Hinchcliffe & Jana Kramer.
Tuesday's Trivia Question: Name the Noah Wylie TNT Primetime Drama that ended its Primetime run last August.
