-Friday's edition of LIVE WITH KELLY was just ridiculous...I had so many issues with Kelly's outfit, the return of the original ugly necklace's uglier cousin necklace, her co-host, Ben Mulroney's sock choice...all in all a mess from a superficial vantage point. I want to reiterate though that I LOVE KELLY ( and of course I LOVE her husband Mark too). I may not like her stylist or some of her clothing and accessary choices, but I really do love her and I am obviously OBSESSED with the Regis replacement process and all of the candidates. I am actually working on a special report specifically on my obsession with Kelly Ripa...coming soon!
-Next week is the season finale of ONCE UPON A TIME and last night's episode set it all up for a huge showdown between Emma and the Queen/Regina. Emma really wants to take Henry and get out of dodge...I mean Storybrooke, but of course just as the car gets to the border, Henry forces them off the road. NOBODY LEAVES STORYBROOKE! If Emma doesn't start believing soon then Pinocchio turns back into a puppet and the rest of the town will live a miserable life never feeling happy again. Henry is the only hope at this point to get her to believe the situation. During all of this the Queen is going nuts trying to bring an end to Snow White in the Fairytale land and an end to Emma in the real world. If Emma leaves (or dies) then the Queen/Regina will continue ruling both lands...so she makes a poisonous apple pie, but instead of Emma taking that first bite...Henry chomps it down at a last attempt to get Emma to believe the situation is not in his imagination, but real...Is Henry dead? Probably not, but it sure does set up the showdown/finale perfectly.
-Attention all award show producers...attention...did you watch last night's 2ND ANNUAL COMEDY AWARDS on Comedy Central? It should have been mandatory research, because these people know how to put on an awards show...here are some tips:
1) Allow the word sh*t to be used.
2) No hosts...if the presenters are funny and the recipients are funny...the show IS funny
3) Don't limit the acceptance speeches...see number 2
4) Make attendance mandatory...Everyone shows up!
5) Insist on funny commercials! (The Quiznos ones were hilarious)
6) Even the "special" awards must be funny
Some of the winners for the evening: Louis CK, PARKS AND REC, Bridesmaids, Melissa McCarthy, 30 ROCK, Ty Burrell, THE DAILY SHOW, Robin William, Amy Poehler, and Don Rickles who ended the show...he was awesome.
Some other notes about the show:
- Chris Rock can do no wrong
- Chevy Chase & Joel McHale talking about teamwork and the situation with writer/producer Dan Harmon-brilliant move
- Kristen Wiig and Annie, her best friend and the co-writer of Bridesmaids, awesome catfight over the award which resulted in what I believe to be a real...wardrobe malfunction. ) It looked like Kristen's boob popped right out of the odd, gold dress she donned for this hysterical evening.)
- Will Arnett and Amy Poehler must just laugh 24/7
- The Tosh.O scene shown during the nominees clips for best sketch/alternative show was disturbing
- So was Adam Scott's hair
- Paul Feig's acceptance speech read by Will Arnett had me laughing so hard tears were streaming down my face
- Whoever the comedians were, doing the imitation of the President with his angry alter ego, were incredible...have I seen them before? Not sure
- I am not a Robin Williams fan
- The girl from HAPPY ENDINGS was wearing the most nerve wracking dress ever...totally thought boobs would fall out at any moment...she must have had a ton of sticky tape that had to damage her skin when she tore it off (or when someone else did).
- I always get Chris Parnell and Chris Cornell mixed up (one is a comedian the other if from Soundgarden)
- DeNiro...nothing...just DeNiro
- Don Rickles killed
-Alot happened last night on GAME OF THRONES...almost too much. Theon went back to Winterfell to "take" it as his own and chopped off a Stark loyalists head to prove he is the Lord of Winterfell now... Bran the paralyzed kid and that crazy chick were obviously there, so the crazy chick "distracted" Theon by taking her clothes off and doing some other stuff...so that Bran could leave Winterfell and hopefully find his brother and mother so they can come back and kick Theon's butt. John Snow and his team of over dressed men are still hunting for wildings in what looks like the coldest place on earth...they find some and when John has the chance to chop off one of the hot girls heads, he of course can't do it and she escapes...but he runs after her, leaves his men, and has to snuggle up to her to keep himself (and her) warm. Finally someone throws a cowpie at that horrible King Joffrey/Geoffrey and he orders everyone to be killed...and that's how the riot begun at Kings Landing. Lord Tyrion punches Joffrey/Geoffrey in the face...best moment of the show...he is SO hated by everyone...including me. Khaleesi is all cleaned up and looking beautiful in Qarth, but things aren't going as well as she had hoped. One guy wants her to marry her, the other won't give her any boats and then someone killed all her people and stole her dragons! This isn't a woman you want to make angry...Rob Stark and his Mom heard about Theon and ordered him to be brought back to them alive. Both Stark girls are in a bit of a pickle...the older one...almost got raped during the riots, (Lord Tyrion made sure she was spared) and the younger one was serving water and wine to the King Lord Tyrion's father, stole some secret warplans...then was discovered and went back on the run. She is slippery that one.
-I didn't get through all of REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NJ...but from what I did see, all of the families with the exception of the Manzo's were down at the shore. They left all the insane kids home together with Kathy's sister Rosie and someone's mother, (not sure whose) while they all went out on someones boat (Not sure whose). Theresa was acting like an idiot in almost every scene she was in. I can't really tolerate her or her husband at all anymore. It's not even funny...it's pathetic. With Caroline in menopause and Lauren desperately trying to lose weight, the Manzo house isn't as fun as it used to be either. The Manzo men are finding home is not the place to be these days.
-Comcast is planning on sellin most of its minority ownership in A&E Networks that came with its purchase of NBCUniversal in 2011. Comcast owns a 15.8% stake in A&E Networks. The portion of A&E Networks held by Comcast, which includes the cable networks A&E Network, HISTORY and Lifetime is worth an estimated $2 billion. With each owning 42% of A&E Networks, Hearst and Disney will likely split the ownership of the company going forward. These two companies also co-own ESPN though Hearst holds a 20% stake in the sports network. Comcast continues to hold smaller stakes in the companies SpectrumCo, MSNBC.com, Clearwire and Weather Channel.
-I know that SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE with Eli Manning was getting a ton of buzz all weekend. I saw it...I didn't think any of it was that funny. Well...the 50 Shades of Gray for Mother's Day was...but other than that...I don't think I laughed at all. Was it me?
-Showtime renewed THE BORGIA'S and TNT renewed SOUTHLAND
-Goober from THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW passed away over the weekend. He played Gomer "Surprise Surprise Surprise" Pyle's son. RIP George Lindsay
-Les Moonves was offered a new contract from CBS...he hasn't accepted the deal just yet, but I am betting he stays put. It's a good gig, he loves it, he's obviously good at it and I am sure Julie needs him to stay on in order for her to keep her job too...so I am sure when he comes down for breakfast this morning, Julie will have the contract, a beautiful Mont Blanc pen, some Cheerios and this morning's Variety and the Hollywood Reporter all cued up on the IPAD for him...just sign it Les!
-Rumor has it that if COUGARTOWN doesn't get picked up by ABC that TBS is thinking of saving it. I am all for that. COUGARTOWN, has been moved all over the place...it's a good show, someone needs to see it's value and stick with it, if that happens to be TBS...good!
-I found this chart pretty interesting...69% of respondents simultaneously watch TV and used their tablet in 4Q 2011...that's a big number
