Big Brother and Suits

THE ANSWER TO WEDNESDAY'S TRIVIA QUESTION: Okay, so yes, technically Carla, Diane & Rebecca all served drinks at Cheers, so I did except those as answers to yesterday's question but I was really looking for Coach, Woody and Sam. Sure there was Wayne who couldn't make a Screaming Viking and Ken the substitute bartender too. I gave every answer credit and realized that you guys know a TON about Cheers so I made my life easy and used Cheers again today.
FIRST FIVES: Mike O'Dea, Karen Heniger, Dave DeSocio, Dana Moscato & Phyllis DiCesare
HONORABLE MENTION: Caryn Vitolo

THE SHOWS

Big Brother
  • Wait…does Vanessa speak French?
  • I wonder how much time the houseguests spend cleaning up from challenges.
  • Was hoping for some Dr. John the Dentist Detective yelling and 5 minutes in…I got it. Be careful what ya wish for.
  • Austin and Liz figured out that James threw the challenge because who ISN'T happy when they WIN a challenge?
  • Okay, who was totally grossed out by the Austin/Judas/Liz kiss? EWWWWW
  • Love #BBNOMANCE
  • Just wait til Austin finds out that the girl he's falling in love with doesn't even like him
  • Guys are idiots
  • What was up with Steve and the camera?
  • I thought Jason looked cute as a park ranger but everyone in their squirrel outfits was hilarious.
  • Note to Meg: THERE ARE SQUIRRELS IN NEW YORK CITY
  • I would have thought there would have been more "nut" jokes.
  • Did Becki even think she was actually going home? The tears were a little much.
  • Who knew Steve hated Becki?
  • The Outback Steakhouse integration was a bit ridiculous but it was worth it to see Meg's devastated face when James didn't pick her to eat meat with him.
  • So after all of Vanessa's scheming to get rid of Austin she bagged the entire plan, and chose the alliance that includes a showmance, a nomance and twins. WHAT?
  • I do give Vanessa credit for confronting Austin face to face, but I personally think she made a HUGE mistake.

Suits
Awesome episode and yet, I have some issues as usual. Let's start with Mike asking Donna to help him get The Plaza Hotel on Rachel's birthday for their wedding. I'm guessing that the wedding will be during sweeps or a season finale or something which means they need the place quickly. No 3 year engagement, who knows if the show will be on in 3 years. Donna was able to do what NYC wedding planners would deem impossible, in three seconds. She researched the couple who had the date Mike needed, found out where they were eating, created a diversion and then blackmailed the groom-to-be to drop The Plaza or she'd go to his fiance with the big news that he already has a mistress. Donna's great, but COME ON!

Sure we all love Gretchen already, but doesn't she seem just TOO perfect? She's not only able to keep Harvey in check but she's got Donna's number and knows exactly how to get to her: Quote Lethal Weapon. I love that Gretchen's got it, but I feel like she got it all, WAY too fast and WAY too easily.

With all the beautiful dresses our favorite Suits women wear, you'd think SOMEONE would compliment SOMEONE about how nice their outfit is once in a while. I know that Rachel doesn't have an ounce of body fat and in my opinion has a perfect booty, but I wonder if she can breathe in her clothes, they look way too tight lately. The buttons on her sweater were screaming for freedom.

Harvey TOTALLY screwed over his therapist and I didn't care that he did it for the right reason. She told him about killing a patient to build his trust and get him to open up and he just used it against her. YES, I realize that Harvey's a mess right now and in desperate need of some real deep digging about Mommy, but he really came off like a HUGE d*ck when he laid the therapist OUT big time. Of course it was also a bit ridiculous that the ONE time there is a case with a therapist testifying it just so happens to be Harvey's therapist.

I'm still having a very hard time understanding why Jessica just doesn't fire Jack Soloff. Okay he has a huge client list, but the names on the wall are Pearson, Spector and Litt. This guy is doing everything he can to undermine, disrespect and devalue everything the partners built their entire practice on. Yes, I get it, we need an enemy, we need drama but this guy's SUCH a jerk that I'd just cut him loose and move on.

Have we ever discussed my candle issue? I'm sure you have a candle or two in your house right now. I probably have a few, but whenever there's ANYTHING romantic on TV or in the movies, the characters set the mood with 10,000 candles that A) would cost a fortune B) take time to light - especially when you need to time everything for exactly the right moment and C) need a very large storage area once they are blown out for the night. I just have a huge issue with candles and always have.

All these comments aside, I do love Suits and think this season is pretty interesting.

THE OTHER STUFF

-MTV renewed Scream for a 2nd season and Cinemax cancelled Banshee after it's upcoming 4th season.

-Not sure if you've read anything about the show Sneaky Pete on someone else's TV blog not that there's anyone else's TV blog you should be reading, but I had heard that Bryan Cranston was working on a show and pitched it to CBS but they passed on it. The show's now getting a shot on Amazon, I'll add it to the premieres and finales list to remind you all to check it out on 8/7. If it's good, you have a say and can vote on it. It stars Giovanni Ribisi as a con artist who gets out of prison and takes his cellmates identity. 10 points if you can tell me Giovanni Ribisi's character name from his Friends days.

-If you're a FiOS customer good news, they're now the 2nd company (shockingly Cablevision was the first) to offer HBONow without subscribing to the TV service. You can try it out for a month, see if its worth the 15 bucks and jump on the bandwagon. Right now, there's nothing SUPER juicy on HBO but if you haven't seen all the old shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under, and Entourage, I'd definitely give it a shot. It's worth it just for that! (Although, no Arliss and I've been trying to find that one for a while now)

-ABC Family's got a sneak peek of their new show, Kevin From Work. You have to head over to Facebook if you want to see it before it premieres on 8/12. I need to remind myself to do that. I wanted to see this one.
