THE SHOWS
Empire
It was late when we got home from my son's game. He had a great game so he got to choose the one show we had time for and he chose Empire over Scandal. We both had the same reaction for some reason. Not sure if it was the hunger in having not had any dinner, or the need for sleep but we weren't feel'in it last night. I think we expect the bar to be raised constantly. Same old stuff that we loved last week, wasn't enough this week. Cookie had some great outfits and some great one-liners, and should be ruling the world but Lucious is always there to squash her plans, tear his family down and make them all feel like crap. YES, we did get a new Pitball/Jamal tune to download to our Spotify playlists, we did get Hakeem's abs, and a nasty new female rapper named Frieda, but it just wasn't enough. Not sure how Cookie found office space, a million employees and got the phones and computers hooked up at Lyon Dynasty in a week, but she is a woman who can get stuff done so I guess if anyone can pull the biggest dinner I've ever seen off a table and start up an entire international music label in a week, Cookie could.

THE OTHER STUFF
-We knew this day would come…someone has to pay for more Kevin Spacey, more Kimmy Schmidt, and more Orange is the New Black and that someone is US! Netflix is raising their prices. Up a buck to 10 bucks a months for new customers but thankfully, all of us early adopters get a years grace period before we get hit with the increase. All I ask is that Reed get us the movies we want earlier than he does now. While there's still a ton of content on Netflix, iTunes and Amazon STILL get movies a lot earlier than Netflix does. Can we work on that a bit, Reed?
- FX renewed Tyrant for a 3rd season. I personally think, that they should make the 3rd season, the last season one. Let Barry/Basam save the country, become the President, and end it. No need for more than that.
-Halt and Catch Fire renewed for a 2nd season.
-The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees were announced yesterday. Not sure how I feel about Janet Jackson getting in at the same time as The Cars, Cheap Trick, The Smiths, Chic, Chicago, Nine Inch Nails, NWA, Steve Miller, Yes, The Spinners, Deep Purple, Chaka Khan and Los Lobos, but I'm VERY happy with this list. Fans get to vote, so get to it people. http://rockhall.com/voting/2016-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-nominees-vote/
-Correction to the TV Guide news I posted yesterday. TV Guide CHANNEL isn't what was sold, that channel became POP TV, the channel I need, but Cablevision won't give me. TV GUIDE…the actual GUIDE is what was sold, so my comment still sort of works. WHO READS THAT??? I do remember those lovely days, oh, so long ago, when the TV Guide arrived and we all did the super easy crossword puzzle that made us feel so smart upon completion. Ahhhh those were the days. Okay…snap back to real time…WHO reads TV GUIDE, now?
-For anyone with Direct TV, Kingdom will be back 10/17. If you haven't seen this show, the first season is available on iTunes and well worth the money. Or, if you know someone with Direct TV…borrow their ID/PW and get going. This is how I fell in love with the show. It's a gritty, raw, drama about Alvey who owns a gym and all of the guys that train in it. One of them, is his son, Nick Jonas, who's awesome in this. There's plenty out there to watch right now, but I'd add this one to your list.
