THE SHOWS

A little bit of a different post today resulting from a 2 hour commute, 3 tests to help my son study for, the fight we had because of the 3 tests I tried to help him study for, the exhaustion of it all and then the insomnia.  So here's what I got:
Really enjoying Carrie's wig on Homeland. Was screaming at her though when she told Allison everything. Allison is another person who can be added to the RBF (Resting B*tch Face for anyone who's forgotten) list by the way. Screamed at Carrie again when she figured out that Allison is the double agent. I was thinking...we know Carrie can shoot, but can Carrie beat the p*ss out of people like Jane/Taylor can on Blindspot? I don't think so. She just runs really fast and his able to hide under fabric really well when the bad guys are after her.

Speaking of Blindspot SPOILER ALERT! During dinner with a friend on Friday night, huge light bulb moment. Patterson is Chrissy Seaver from Growing Pains all grown up. OMFG I knew I knew her from somewhere and that was TOTALLY IT! Anyway, Patterson was still reeling from the BF's death but that was the least of the juicyness in the Winter Finale. Jane/Taylor FINALLY made out with Kurt. I have no idea why he let her walk back home alone after they sucked face,  but he did and OF COURSE she got kidnapped by that FBI Daylight dude who water boarded her until she remembered something. Just as she made the connection, the dude with tree tattoo showed up, plugged him full of bullets and played Jane/Taylor a video on his cellphone and guess who was on it? HER! She apparently did this all to herself, oh and the short hair...also her idea. Of course we don't know why. We'll have to wait for February for that.

Up in Whistler, on Apres Ski, everyone, including me is HATING Elise. She is number one on the RBF list right now. I don't even know how she looks in the mirror and doesn't see the chip on her shoulder that adds to her super RBF. She's just a nasty piece of work. No idea how she got the job other than the casting directors desperate need for a villain. She SO doesn't fit the company, the lifestyle, the "brand" etc. This week we had a group that went zip lining and a couple that wanted a sexy photo shoot, a marriage proposal and some snowboarding. The whole thing was weird. Weirder than a couple posing in their underwear and getting engaged in front of total strangers was The Good Wife. I was holding it at bay for a while, but Grace Florick seems to own a million laptops, knows how to play busy office sounds on them, and can convince huge companies to hire her "firm" with her baby voice. I don't think she's graduated from high school yet, but she just earned 35K in commissions. COME ON THIS MAKES NO SENSE!

THE OTHER STUFF

-The FOX News tribe has spoken and Elisabeth Hasselbeck will be leaving FOX & Friends by the end of the year. I am always suspicious when anyone, male or female, leaves any gig to "spend more time with the family." Of course if it's true I'd totally respect the decision, but when is it EVER just THAT simple? NEVER! So who knows why Elizabeth is really leaving. I hope she and her family are healthy and she just wants to take walks, bake muffins and read stories to her kids but my cynical self thinks there's more to this story. In the mean time, FOX and Friends needs to find some new friends.

-ABC and Miss America will be together for a few more years. The partnership will continue through 2018. What's the difference between Miss USA and Miss America? They're two different pageants, right? One was the former Donald Trump thing and the whats the other one?

- I'm actually happy for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I have a bunch of them in my DVR and now that I have a bit of hope that it won't be cancelled, I'll go back and catch up. The CW gave some good news to the cast and to the iZombie cast as well.  6 more episodes have been ordered.

-While Crazy Ex and iZombie got some good news, I'd say The Vampire Diaries & The Originals got a bit of a shock to the system. They are moving to Friday! WHAT? Friday is the first step to GONE! Honestly, I think the Vampire trend is over and it's time to end both shows. Lets call it a day. We all know that once Jeremy and Elena left it would only be a matter of time.

-Fargo's getting a third season.

- Some interesting info on everyone's favorite group of people...MILLENNIALS
  • Millennials are more likely to watch  their favorite fall shows on platforms like Hulu instead of tuning in to watch the same shows episodes live on linear TV
  • Millenials have only watched live TV 30% of the time this Fall so far.
  • 30% of Millenials TV viewing time occurred via OTT and VOD platforms more than 3 days after an episodes linear debut and via DVR more than 7 days after an episodes linear debut.
  • Out of the top 20 episodes Millenials viewed during the study, the audience rating for those episodes across all platforms increased an average of 38% by the 7th day after the episodes linear premiere.
  • Out of all the streaming video options available to them Millenials prefer Hulu outside of live and DVR TV viewing. This is mainly because Hulu's benefit is that they provide new time-shifted network shows. Netflix and Amazon do not.
  • Hulu helped the CBS App and website gain about double the viewing duration of competitor networks streaming sites because CBS doesn't air shows on Hulu their shows only air on their owned and operated FEP.
  • Huge learning here: Consumer behavior is shifting. The viewing of TV and video is moving past Live +7. Consumers watch programs across multiple platforms and devices beyond the seven-day window. We all have to think differently to connect more strategically.
