-I was out late last night at a pretty cool event. My friend was inducted to The Friars Club so I went to support her. It was really quite a night and for me, who is a major HOWARD STERN fan, I was in my glory as I sat and hung out with Jackie the Jokeman, Tim Sabean and Super Agent Don Buchwald…so that’s the good news…the bad news is I didn’t watch anything last night and only had time this morning to watch LIVE WITH KELLY while I was getting ready for work.
-Kelly had Mary J. Blige as her co-host who was not that great. She seemed nervous, she also seemed to hang on Kelly’s every word and sort of be her “straight man” well, I guess in this case it would be “straight woman”. So other than that I have a lot to catch up on tonight when I get home.
-So much for cutting back, taking it easy and hanging out with Gayle…it seems the only show doing well on Oprah’s OWN Network is…well…Oprah’s! OPRAH’S NEXT CHAPTER (which is the only show other than Rosie’s that I watch on the network) is going to 2 nights starting in February. It seems that she will now be dividing the interviews into 2 parts and air the second part on Monday nights. C’mon Oprah…you didn’t think you could really just chill out now did you?
-Quite a few readers have suggested I DVR AN IDIOT ABROAD on the Science channel. I guess I need to check it out, because the show became the network's most-watched program ever among A25-54 with 538,000; A18-49 with 480,000; and M25-54 with 329,000. The opening episode also brought in 1.3 million unique total viewers. This is the one with Ricky Gervais…but to be honest…I don’t know much about it, so I will have to watch it and get back to you.
-I had a feeling that Bethenny was going to be doing something like this, especially when I heard that her Bravo show was going to end after the upcoming season…apparently she is going the talk show route. A 6 week preview of the show will air on FOX O&O’s this Summer from Burbank, California. I wonder if that means she is finally officially leaving NYC?
-Today’s chart is interesting…I think what I am most interested in is the music figures…I find them to be surprisingly low…are there even “record” stores anywhere at this point? I know the one in my Mall is gone…so where are all of these people who are not buying music digitally buying their music?
Charts
- Apple had a record-breaking fiscal first quarter of 2012 (which for them is from the end of September to the end of December). The company generated $46.3 billion in revenue in the 1Q 2012 and a quarterly profit of $13.06 billion. Apple also sold 37.04 million iPhones (up more than 128% over the same quarter a year ago); 15.43 million iPads (+111% over the same time period last year); and 5.2 million Macs (+26%). In fact, the iPod was the only product to see a drop (-21%) even though Apple sold 15.4 million of them. To give you an idea of how good of a quarter it was for the company, analysts were predicting Apple's quarterly revenue to be $38.8 billion, with iPhone shipments of nearly 30 million and iPad sales of around 14 million, according to AllThingsD. In a statement, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the 1Q figures are record-breaking sales numbers for iPhones, iPads and Macs. During the company's conference call, Apple also announced that by the end of January, iOS developers will have made over $4 billion in total sales.
-Tonight after AMERICAN IDOL (Not sure if I am going to watch or not yet) is the premiere of the Kiefer Sutherland show TOUCH. I know I am really excited to check it out. I have to try and remember that he isn’t Jack Bauer anymore, I hope that doesn’t disappoint me too much.
-Wednesday’s Trivia Question: What agency did Jack Bauer work for?
