-I know we mainly talk about Primetime TV here, but thought some of you would be interested in seeing what is going on in the Daytime Talk show world now that OPRAH is out of the picture.  DR OZ inherited most of Oprah’s timeslots and ranked as the number one show on Monday with a 3.8 Household cume rating in the 56 overnight markets, matching its best single day rating ever.  That’s the good news…the bad news is, Anderson Cooper’s new show…stunk  (ratings wise that is-I didn’t see it or Tivo it). Let’s remember that we are only a day in and a lot can change, but here is what it looked like day one:
The #1 talk show delivering
  • Dr. OZ (3.8)
  • The View (3.5)
  • Regis & Kelly (2.9)
  • Maury (2.8)
  • Ellen (2.7)
  • Dr. Phil (2.6)
  • The Talk (1.9)
  • Jerry Springer (1.8)
  • Rachael Ray (1.5)
  • The Doctors (1.6)
  • Nate Berkus Show (1.3)
  • Anderson Cooper (1.3)
  • Wendy Williams (1.2)

-Did you watch RINGER? What did you think?  I don’t want to say too much if you didn’t watch. I had seen the pilot episode already and I did rewatch last night.  As I originally thought, I liked it, I just don’t know how long the writers can keep the premise going, unless, they don’t intend to. I had forgotten until last night about the cheesy special effects.  I am assuming the producers were working with a low budget or something because the important boat scene was a joke. Also last night, PARENTHOOD was back.  The producers have moved time ahead about 7 months which was a good idea, Adam is still out of a job and now Christina seems to have switched roles with her husband since we have seen them last.  It’s good to have the Bravermans back, I missed them. We are one day into the new season and I am already falling behind…didn’t see FLIPPING OUT REUNION last night or Monday’s episode of WEEDS.  I will catch up, I always do

-You know how much I love BIG BROTHER, but I am so glad so many other people do as well.  I don’t want to take all the credit for its growth and popularity this season, but isn’t it a coincidence that the year that WWTM launches, BIG BROTHER has its best year ever?  With its finale tonight, BIG BROTHER is wrapping up its most successful summer in both viewers and adults 18-49 since 2004, with growth on all platforms from on-air to online and on cable. This summer's success also witnessed robust social media activity, particularly on Facebook and Twitter.
* BIG BROTHER is up year over year on all three nights by 11% in A18-49
* BIG BROTHER is up year over year in total viewers by 4% from 7.8mm to 8.1mm

-The big news for my family tonight is that SURVIVOR is back and we all can’t wait.  Coach is back to play again, and so is Ozzy so it should be great.

-Other shows premiering tonight: H8R on the CW-the pilot was weak, and starred Snookie as the first hated celebrity who turns the person’s mind around and makes them a fan.  You decide if it is believable…I didn’t buy into it all when I first saw it.  The show will only be good if the person doesn’t come around and is honest about the celebrity when they meet.  UP ALL NIGHT is cute but again the joke gets old fast, so they better hope to find more than just the new overwhelmed parents to make us stay interested as the show moves on, but Christina Applegate and Will Arnett were both good in it. FREE AGENTS starring Hank Azaria.  I didn’t like FREE AGENTS when I first watched the pilot…let’s see if America doesn’t either.

- According to Nielsen, more Americans tune in to TV Monday through Friday from 915p to 930p than any other period during primetime.  The fewest viewers are watching at the end of primetime between 1045p to 11p.  Additionally, A18-49 viewers usually tune in much later, watching TV from 945 to 10p and this demo further watches the least amount of TV from 8p to 815p.
-According to MediaMind, for every 1 million impressions, web users “dwell” on 70,000 telecom ads and click on 1,800. MediaMind defines dwell rate as impressions that are intentionally engaged with by touch, interaction or click, and by this metric the telecom vertical outpaces nearly all other categories thanks to a dwell rate of 7.5%. Telecom is tied for second-highest vertical in terms of engagement, and trails only the sports category.

-Heading out early this AM to a social TV seminar…let ya know if I learn anything interesting.

-Wednesday's Trivia Question: What is Dr. Oz’s first name?

WWTM-Kristy
