-The Sunday Night Football opener featuring the Cowboys vs. Jets on NBC had the best
overnight for any Week 1 primetime game on Sunday or Monday night in 15 years, was
up three percent over last year’s SNF opener and 26 percent over the 2009 SNF opener,
and is the top rated Sunday Night Football game ever, according to overnight data
released today by The Nielsen Company.
The Jets 27-24 victory (yeah baby) over the Cowboys earned a 16.9 overnight rating
and 27 share (8:30-11:45 p.m. ET), the best overnight for any Sunday or Monday night
Week 1 primetime game since Sept. 2, 1996 (Cowboys-Bears, 20.2/33 on ABC) and the
best Sunday Night Football overnight rating since the NFL’s premier primetime package
moved to NBC in 2006.
NBC's 12.8/21 from 7-11 p.m. in metered-market households is the highest Sunday
average for any network since ABC televised the Academy Awards on February 27.

-Last night, I did not watch the Patriots beat the Dolphins. I know Tom Brady is
amazing and I am not a fan of his, so this allowed me to catch up on Sunday's REAL
HOUSEWIVES OF NJ and watch REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS. NJ is my
home state, so let's start with them. I have to say that the entire 5K race had to be
completely scripted/suggested whatever, because none of these woman (or men) would
EVER run/walk/drive a 5K if it wasn't requested by producers. The entire thing was
ridiculous and what was with Joe Giudice bringing homemade sausage (that had to be
sliced fresh at 5am?) and wine to a 5K. Also for such a big body building, supposedly
physically fit guy, why did Joe Giudice finish the 5K last? Maybe he ate all the sausage
and wine before the run. Milania is a nightmare child and Theresa who is in a serious
state of denial really seems to think she is fine, but this week the award goes to Gia. I
would never have the guts to write and sing those 2 songs to all of those people, let
alone be manipulative and brilliant enough to use Milania's birthday to show Theresa,
her brother and her father just how much their ridiculous behavior was hurting her.
Kudos to Gia! The scenes for next week in Punta Cana look as uncomfortable as
ever...can't wait.
-REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS is just the polar opposite of NJ. These woman
have some serious cash...the houses, clothes, and closets! Plus all the help these
women seem to have following them around-ski concerage? Who knew? Since the
series began, we have seen Camille Grammars homes in NY, Malibu, Hawaii & Beaver
Creek. Each home more incredible than the next. I know she has to sell them due to
the divorce (boo hoo) but still, they are all truly incredible. And who has that many
guest bathrobes at their disposal? Maybe she got a good deal on them at Bed Bath and
Beyond??? Kim Richards seems out of her mind, not sure what she is on, but she needs
to see someone about tweaking her meds. All in all a pretty tame episode compared to
last week, but I can tell it is the calm before the storm.
- Some interesting stats revealed at the Mobile Marketer's Mobile Marketing Summit:
Mobile beat out print, online and TV advertising across almost all but one single-
channel metrics and even placed ahead of multi-channel marketing efforts. The study
also focused on smartphone users and found that:
• 60% claim they intend to make more in-store purchases this holiday season than
on the internet.
• 40% are willing to make purchases from their mobile devices in-store.
• Consumers are more likely to visit third-party sites than a retailer's site, but 67%
of users will visit both resources for information when in-store.
- Some mobile ad trends for the month of July:
• Ad campaigns that gave consumers an opportunity to watch video grew 69%
month-over-month, and made up over 30% of all campaigns.
• Ad campaigns that allowed users to participate in some way on social media
increased 34% month-over-month.
• Local market targeting grew 22% month-over-month. 67% of all Targeted
Audience campaigns on Millennial Media's network used local market targeting.
• 86% of travel ad campaigns gave consumers the option to download an app.
• Sustained in-market presence was the goal for 79% of all travel campaigns
- Starting this week, Turner Broadcasting, via its TBS and TNT channels, will air
commercials created to explain the concept of TV Everywhere. The ads will feature stars
like Conan O'Brien and will encourage users to download TBS and TNT apps to start
watching network programming online and on demand. The campaign will also include
a longer ad to be posted on YouTube that details the process of downloading and
authenticating the users' app subscriptions. Turner-parent Time Warner is championing
TV Everywhere services as a way to retain cable subscribers. I love the TV Everywhere
concept...and I do view it wherever I need to, just adds more pressure to my job
though...more places to watch, more shows to watch, no excuses right?
- Social networks account for 22.5% of the time that Americans spend online,
according to Nielsen's "State of the Media: The Social Media Report" that was released
yesterday. Other findings include:
• At over 53 billion minutes in May 2011, Americans spend more time on Facebook
than on any other website.
• Tumblr has almost tripled its audience from a year ago. (and I have no idea what
it is)
• Nearly 40% of social media users access the networks via mobile devices.
• Users over the age of 55 are driving the growth of social sites through the
mobile internet.
• Across a selection of 10 global markets, social networks and blogs are the top
destination online.
• While more women watch video clips on blogs and social media channels, men
spend more time watching them.
-Tonight the first of many season premieres to come. I will be watching RINGER on
the CW and PARENTHOOD on NBC. There is a very intriguing show on ABC, JACKIE
KENNEDY IN HER OWN WORDS: In previously unheard interviews, former first lady
Jacqueline Kennedy discusses her life in the White House with President John F.
Kennedy, experiences on the campaign trail, her family and world leaders; Diane
Sawyer interviews Caroline Kennedy as well. I think I will Tivo this and watch when I
have some spare time. I have always been kinda fascinated by Jackie Kennedy (In a
non stalker kinda way).
-Tuesday's Trivia Question: Sarah Michelle Gellar stars in the new show RINGER, but I
first saw her as an amazing dark haired B*TCH in a great movie with Ryan Phillippe and
Reese Witherspoon. Name the movie. Bonus if you can name her character.
