-The ratings story this week is really all over the place with so much sampling,
premieres, etc. but even with all of that I was still really surprised with X FACTOR's
numbers. We watched X FACTOR last night again, and we did enjoy the show. One
major goosebump moment was when Melanie, an 18 year old girl sang "Listen". If you
closed your eyes, you would have thought it was Beyonce singing. I admit it...the tears
were flowing, hair on my arm stood up and this girl had me. I also got to watch the
premiere of GLEE which was decent. I am not a big Broadway person, so it always
annoys me when the songs are from musicals, this episode did have a few. The best
part of the show was that Blaine, has transferred to McKinley to be with Curt, so not
only does Curt get to see him more, but we all do too. I loved the "It's Not Unusual
Number" and anything else Darren does. If you ask me, Darren Criss HAS the X
FACTOR. I was also able to squeeze in the 2nd episode from MODERN FAMILY from
Wednesday night which was better than the first but still...the new Lily...too much
talking! Oh, and WHITNEY...I had seen this episode already and it's cute, I don't think
I am Season passing it though...I can take it or leave it.
- A study of U.K. parents of children aged ten years or younger by Westcoastcloud, a
cloud-based internet security services provider, found that one in ten primary school
children in the U.K. have iPhones. One in ten parents feel it's appropriate for children
as young as four to own mobile phones, and 68% of parents who are comfortable with
their children owning phones, admit it's mainly due to wanting to keep tabs on them.
Four??? That is ridiculously young.
- Earlier this year Nielsen changed the way it handled DVR viewing so that if a show
were watched multiple times on DVR, the multiple views would be counted and
ultimately included in any gross ratings reports. Now Nielsen has alerted its customers
that those DVR viewing numbers may have been inflated due to a processing glitch
that delivered "incorrect data for time shifted streams" since January 31, this "glitch"
could add up to millions in advertising "makegoods." Nielsen...I throw my hands up
whenever I remember how much money rides on their data. So glad social data is
becoming more available...the more tools we have to make decisions on program
placement the better.
-Katie Holmes has been booked to play another one of Ted's legendary ex-girlfriends on
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. Last week, Victoria, another "one that got away"
resurfaced, but Katie will be making her appearance as "Slutty Pumpkin" a girl Ted met
at a Halloween party and lost touch with. I think Ted should jump up in the booth at
the bar to declare that Slutty Pumpkin was the love of his life, the way Katie's husband
did on Oprah...now that would be HILARIOUS!
-Alec Baldwin will host the premiere of SNL this Saturday for a record breaking 16th
time, make sure you stop by Ben & Jerry's to get your Schweddy Balls Ice Cream so
that you can break it out during the show. The flavor is Fair Trade vanilla, with a hint
of rum, and is loaded with fudge covered rum and milk chocolate malt balls. You can
even send a Schweddy greeting card...check it out:

-Tablet owners who have downloaded only a few apps are much more likely to use
them regularly. By contrast, about 37% of tablet owners who have downloaded 10 or
more apps regularly use them, according to an eMarketer report. A few weeks ago, I
cleaned out my IPAD and my I TOUCH for exactly that reason...I had so many Apps I
never use...Still loving Zite, Flipboard, Scrabble and Plants vs Zombies though...
-Someone was listening to me! The awesome web series LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE
is making its debut in national syndication this Saturday night. LIVE FROM DARYL'S
HOUSE is a performance reality series set inside Daryl Hall's home. Amazing musical
artists come to Daryl Hall's house, jam with him, eat dinner and talk music. Great
show! Catch it on channel 11 here in NYC or online, the episodes with Pat Monahan
from Train and Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20 are amazing.
-WWTM Weekend Movie Choice: WIN WIN featuring Paul Giamatti as a down on his
luck attorney and wrestling coach. I found this movie by accident and had to watch it
twice because my Amazon on demand download screwed up and only downloaded the
first half...it was worth watching again.
-Friday's Trivia Question: The bar in HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is NOT inspired by the
F1 racing team that includes Jensen Button and Lewis Hamilton but by Carter Bays
assistant...what is its name?
-Friday Bonus question: Who is Lewis Hamilton's famous girlfriend?
