THE SHOWS

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
I lovvvvveeeee Ali Wentworth. I've loved her for a lonnnngggg time. Jerry loves her too. No, for real. He and his wife Jessica are friends in real life with Ali and her husband, George Stephanopolous. I would love to get in on that dinner party. I loved the car Jerry chose for Ali, the music and the choice of venue. Ali's a well-known WASP, having coffee at a Bedminster NJ country club…perfect. Not sure why they went all the way to Bedminster via my neighborhood but maybe they had to kill some time. I loved all the conversation about marriage. Nice to know that Ali and George get into fights and don't speak sometimes and that Jerry and Ali's kids go to the same school where Ali and George got snagged for leaving orientation early. Stars…they're just like us! Fun episode. That Miranda Sing thing threw me a few weeks ago but Jerry course corrected and all has been right with the world for 2 weeks now. Whewwwww! http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/ali-wentworth-im-going-to-take-a-percocet-and-let-that-one-go

Black-ish
I'm sure you're all getting sick of my "Rainbow Rants" and Black-ish deserves more than that from me because it is so much more than Rainbow but please indulge me just one more time. WHAT IS WITH RAINBOW? Is she not the most annoying TV Mom ever? The director needs to pick a hairdo, stick with it and let me get used to it. This week they went back and forth with big hair, smaller big hair, and 2 different pulled back looks for her. One with braids and one with a bun. While the pulled back hair is better, it does accentuate the eyes which isn't Ms. Ellis's best feature. If she wasn't such an over-actor those eyes wouldn't bother me that much. So just stick with the smaller bigger hair and move on. Also can someone pleassseeeee direct her to take it down a notch  and give her less of a storyline? Why is the weakest link getting rewarded with more screen time? Something isn't right and it's driving me nuts. In the mean time Fred the white office Santa died and the gig was up for grabs.  Guess who wanted it? Dre of course. He wanted to be the first black Santa and pitched Mr. Stevens. Stevens gave the gig to the chick from Ugly Betty but once she screwed up Ho Ho Ho with Ho HO Ho…Dre got the gig back. One problem…Dre forgot the toys. Of course he ended up saving the day because it's an ABC sitcom and there's no way Disney screws kids over on a "Very Special Christmas" episode. No way. The super annoying Rainbow (sorry…I tried, I just come back to her every time) wanted to cook Christmas Eve dinner instead of letting Dre's Mom do it which I'm pretty sure was an issue on another Black-ish episode but I'm too lazy to go back to the archives to confirm this. Of course Bow blew it and Ruby saved the day but the gig was sort of up because Ruby has been ordering her famous dinner from a Mexican catering company for years. There was a whole bunch of racist stuff but I've written way too much already.

Nashville
Now that's what I call a Winter Finale! One wedding called OFF!  Another one ON!  Juliette and Avery ended the episode with "I DO." Rayna said "I can't" and hit the road. Of course now Deacon has Cancer, but I'm sure Rayna will get him the best most amazing medical treatment and if ABC renews the show for another Season he'll live to finally marry the woman of his dreams. Like I said before…Disney=happy endings. I thought Mika would be finally be out of the picture once we found out that he wasn't Gunnar's but BUM BUM BAAAAA he's his nephew! Didn't see that one coming.  There was some more bad news. Sophie's ex beat the crap out of her, Teddy broke up with the Call Girl and I'm sort of hoping Layla died in that pool.  Well done Nashville writers.

THE OTHER STUFF

-"Hon…I've got some news"
"One minute Les, I'm looking in my closet for something to wear"
"Come here babe, you'll want to hear this"
"What do you think this one? Or this one?"
"Who cares? I just renewed my contract through 2019! More dough, more bonus's for us!"
"OMG, really babe? NOW CAN I GET SOME NEW CLOTHES? Pleaseeeeeeeee"
"Let me just call the press, green light CSI Toledo, NCIS Fresno and Scorpion with even younger kids then you can grab our invisible son and we can hit The Ivy for a celebratory dinner, sound good?"
"I didn't hear a stop at Neiman's on the agenda babe"
"Okay, Okay Neiman's on the way"
"It's going to be a Very Merry Christmas in the Moonves/Chen house this year"
Congrat on your new deal Les!

-Jimmy and Steve Carrell performed this awesome rendition of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" check it out: http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/segments/87961

-Golden Globe Nominations were announced yesterday. Lots of surprises and a lot to digest.
I can't speak to the movie noms as I've only seen Boyhood, Gone Girl, The Judge & Whiplash which were all really good. Here's the breakdown, if I have any comments…they're in red:

Best Motion Picture – Drama
Boyhood, Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, Selma & The Theory of Everything

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama
Jennifer Anniston/Cake, Felicity Jones/The Theory of Everything, Julianne Moore/Still Alice, Rosamund Pike/Gone Girl, Reese Witherspoon/Wild

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical
Ralph Fiennes,/Grand Budapest Hotel, Michael Keaton/Birdman, Bill Murray/St. Vincent, Joaquin Phoenix/Inherent Vice, Christoph Waltz/Big Eyes”

Best Television Series – Drama
The Affair (You have NO idea how annoyed I am by this nomination. OMFG hate this show)
Downton Abbey
Game of Thrones

The Good Wife
House of Cards
Parenthood, Masters of Sex, Orphan Black, Sons of Anarchy and the number one show on television, The Walking Dead are all missing from this list!!!

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series
Claire Danes/Homeland, Viola Davis/How to Get Away With Murder, Julianna Margulies/The Good Wife, Ruth Wilson/The Affair, Robin Wright/House of Cards Ruth Wilson has to go and Lizzie Caplan from Masters of Sex needs to take her place are they kidding me?

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama
Clive Owen/The Knick, Liev Schreiber/Ray Donovan, Kevin Spacey/House of Cards, James Spader/The Blacklist, Dominic West/The Affair Michael Sheehan from Masters of Sex, Anyone from Sons of Anarchy and Matthew Rhys from The Americans are missing. Who votes on this stuff?

Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical
Girls, Jane the Virgin, Orange Is the New Black, Silicon Valley & Transparent No Parks & Rec, Goldbergs, Modern Family or Black-ish?  WTF

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical
Lena Dunham/Girls, Edie Falco/Nurse Jackie, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep, Gina Rodriguez/Jane the Virgin, Taylor Schilling/Orange Is the New Black. The fact that Wendi McClendon Covey and Amy Poehler didn't get nominated and Taylor Schilling and Lena Dunham did has me LIVID!

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical
Louis CK/Louie, Don Cheadle, House of Lies, Ricky Gervais/Derek, William H. Macy, Shameless & Jeffrey Tambor,Transparent. I do appreciate Jeffrey Tambor for Transparent but that show is NO COMEDY and his role is not a comedic one at all!  I would have loved to see any of the guys from Alpha House on Amazon nominated. That show and their performances are underrated.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television
Maggie Gyllenhaal/The Honorable Woman, Jessica Lange/American Horror Story: Freak Show, Frances McDormand/Olive Kitteridge, Frances O'Connor/The Missing, Allison Tolman/Fargo

Martin Freeman/Fargo, Woody Harrelson/True Detective, Matthew McConaughey/True Detective, Mark Ruffalo/The Normal Heart, Billy Bob Thorton/Fargo

Uzo Aduba/Orange Is the New Black, Kathy Bates/American Horror Story: Freak Show, Joanne Froggatt, Downton Abbey, Allison Janney/Mom, Michelle Monaghan/True Detective. The supporting category rules are bizarre. Series, Miniseries or Made for TV Movie all in one category?

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television
Matt Bomer/The Normal Heart, Alan Cumming, “The Good Wife, Colin Hanks/Fargo, Bill Murray/Olive Kitteridge, Jon Voight/Ray Donovan I'm just happy that when the five boxes of nominee shots are up there on my screen, Matt Bomer will be there. I LIVE FOR HIM!
