THE SHOWS

Lip Sync Battle
Last night, LSB was back and it was BIG! The Tatum's have raised the bar, well sort of. Here's the deal, Jenna Dewan Tatum took the challenge VERY seriously and she killed. She performed Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted Snake" and shocked everyone with the real Paula Abdul. They were amazing. Then, if that wasn't enough, Jenna performed her husband's "Pony" number from Magic Mike. After seeing both of her performances, I have to wonder what goes on in the Tatum household?  Now...Channing went a different route completely. He dressed up as Elsa and as Beyonce and performed "Let it Go" and "Run the World (Girls)."  Channing's Lip Syncs weren't the greatest, but his costumes, pageantry and well...he somehow got Beyonce to show up which apparently made it too hard for the producers to choose a winner. LL and Chrissy just gave the belt to the couple. LAME! SUPER SUPER LAME! Jenna got screwed big time if you ask me. She SLAYED her husband and should have gotten her own belt. After seeing the Tatum's moves and they're obviously into dress-up I could only wonder what goes on in their house. I can only imagine. With allllll that going on, I still was completely fixated on Chrissy's boobs and their ability to stay in her dress. This episode must have been filmed before she was preggers as her dress was super tight and she had no baby bump to speak of. The premiere was fun, but I still wish the show took the battles more seriously and really let us all choose a winner. A REAL WINNER!  Here are two of the performances, let me know what you think:

THE OTHER STUFF

-Kevin Reilly's going CRAZY! He revealed at the TCA's that TNT will begin cutting the number of commercial minutes in its original dramas by half in 2016. First they'll test the idea in 3 of their new original dramas this year . The episodes will be 8-10 minutes of programming time longer. Kevin's hoping more advertisers will want to participate in show integrations instead of the traditional :30 model. In theory, I like the idea, in practice, I'm not so sure. Nobody's ever done a study that links in-show integration to consumer consideration or actual sales. I guess it depends on the brand, the program and the execution. I haven't forgotten about the Pepsi integration in Empire last season, but it didn't result in me drinking or purchasing one at all. See my point? It's about sales, door swings, and moving the needle these days and integrations tend to cost MORE money than a traditional :30 spot. We'll see...I guess. Gotta admit, I admire the risk taking.

-Kevin also let the critics know that Season 7 will be the final season for Rizzoli and Isles. Never seen an episode, but I'm thinking that if you get 7 seasons of ANYTHING these days, consider yourself lucky. The final 13 episode season will air this Summer.

-Also cancelled...CMT's Party Down. The 5th season premieres on 1/28. So for those fans out there, enjoy it, because the lights are going down and the party is over.

Friday's Trivia Question: RIP Pat Harrington. Name his One Day at a Time Character.

Golden Globes on Sunday...can't wait!

Have a great weekend!
