-I only watched LIVE WITH KELLY yesterday, and then switched over to watch the Oklahoma City Thunder (who have the best fans ever it seems...all matching shirts!) crush the San Antonio Spurs. I had to switch, because while Mike Greenberg from ESPN was on and I do like him...Kelly's 2nd hideous Tom Binns necklace was back. Here's a photo:
The dress was also pretty bad...she wore the same exact lace prom dress in another color last week and now to make matters worse, she added this hideous non-matching extra large and chunky necklace. Again...maybe it wouldn't be so hideous on a Saturday with cool jeans and a t-shirt or something, but I hate this...what do you guys think?
-I think the big news of the week was the dominance of the HISTORY channel's HATFIELDS & McCOYS miniseries. The finale on Wednesday delivered 14 million viewers making it the #1 entertainment telecast ever on ad-supported cable. The final night of Hatfield & McCoys also delivered 6.3 million A25-54 and 5.1 million A18-49. Overall, for the three nights, May 28-30, the miniseries averaged 13.8 million total viewers; 6.0 million A25-54 viewers and 4.9 million with A18-49. Maybe I should have watched it since there was NOTHING ELSE ON!!! I have never been a western person, but I do like Kevin Costner.
-I post these charts each month when they come out, mainly to show the evolution of how we are all watching TV these days. I know that I always have my laptop (well, before it officially died last Sunday-8 years...I think it did right by me) with me and my cell phone, but it's important to note the increases and where they are occurring as marketers.
-A new study from Tremor Video, finds that 52%
of all smartphone video is viewed at home, with peak viewing hours between
5pm and 11pm, mirroring that of TV.
- Long-form video now accounts for nearly 40% of smartphone video viewing every week.
- There has been a 34% increase in viewing video on smartphones over the past year.
- There has been a 38% increase in accessing video content online over the past year,
- Video consumption on tablets has exceeded that of smartphones
- 85% of tablet viewers have been on their tablet while watching TV.
- 8% of current "mobile/connected TV viewers" plan to cancel their pay TV service in the next year; another 23% are seriously considering canceling, with 81% citing online OTT options as the primary reason for potentially cutting the cord.
- 75% of viewers have interacted with online video ads delivered by Tremor in the past month; 58% demonstrated "some level of ad effectiveness," including clicking on the ad, visiting a site, visiting a store, or making a purchase.
-WWTM WEEKEND MOVIE SUGGESTION...bag it and just watch GAME OF THRONES finale on Sunday! It's going to be sooooo juicy!
-FRIDAY'S TRIVIA QUESTION: This morning when I woke up, I caught last nights WATCH WHAT HAPPENS LIVE because it was a FACTS OF LIFE reunion...well I guess having Natalie & Tootie on could be considered a reunion. I loved the FACTS OF LIFE! Sorry James I have to blow off NHL Trivia for a FACTS OF LIFE trivia question today: What Breakfast Club alum was an original cast member of THE FACTS OF LIFE?
-WWTM'S SUMMER READING LIST: I have already read the 50 Shades books, as you know, so now I'm reading and loving Andy Cohen's book, "Most Talkative". I am convinced he is my gay brother from another jewish mother...seriously. I just love this guy. We really have so much in common and I think he needs me to be his newest BFF. I love Jimmy, I do, and I still want my platonic sleepover, but I'm thinking it could be a way more fun night with Andy than with Jimmy...anyway I am way off track here...Have a great weekend!
WWTM-Kristy
In that picture, Mindy Cohn (Natalie) looks like Tyne Daly from "Cagney & Lacey".
