NEWS & INFORMATION:
-CBS launched the CBS Connect app for all of you guys that want to discuss your favorite shows and characters. The app actually does much more than that though. Fans, utilizing the apps sync feature can chat real time even if they are watching on-demand or on their DVR's. Right now all of the features are working for NCIS but starting Tuesday 1/8 you can use the app with NCIS: LA and on 1/14 Hawaii 5-0 and 1/16 CSI. It's sort of getting confusing with all of the various ways to connect with TV shows these days. Just on CBS alone, Survivor has a ton of stuff online as does Big Brother. (Two of my faves) I hope eventually they will all live in one place. It would make it easier, that's for sure.
I checked the app out while I wasn't watching TV last night, it's pretty cool. Some of the app’s second-screen features include:
- · The opportunity to take a deeper look at elements of an episode which play a key role in the story but may only appear on screen for a split second
- · Episode-specific insights and anecdotes provided by the shows’ creative teams
- · Behind-the-scenes access for each episode, such as photos, videos and maps
- · Spotlights on key locations and sets, like the NCIS: LOS ANGELES Ops Center
- · The ability to easily follow and track social comments from the shows’ stars and creative talent
- · Character back stories, quizzes, polls and more
-More big news for CBS. The 1/14 episode of Hawaii 5-0 will feature a television first...Viewers will determine how the episode ends using real time voting via cbs.com and Twitter. During a murder investigation, there will be 3 suspects. Viewers will vote to the ending of the broadcast. All 3 options will be available online and the voting will take place for the East Coast and the West Coast feeds. This is really cool when you think about it. I still won't watch because I'm not a big Hawaii 5-0 fan, but congrats to CBS for raising the bar on engagement viewing!
different listeners as possible but at least it's good to know that radio still does a decent job of reaching consumers.
-The Cowboys-Redskins, Sunday became the most-watched and highest-rated NFL regular-season primetime game ever on NBC, the most-watched NFL regular-season primetime game on any network in 16 years, and the highest-rated and most-watched NFL game this season. The game was seen by 30.3 million viewers, 10 percent higher than last year’s Week 17 game (Cowboys-Giants, 27.62 million), which was also a win-and-in game to determine the winner of the NFC East, and the previous most-watched NBC regular-season primetime NFL game. It also topped the 28.7 million for the Redskins-Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game on Fox, which had been the most-watched NFL game on ANY network this season.
Al Gore sold Current TV to Al Jazeera for 500 million bucks...huh? Yep, that's right. Al himself gets 100 million. He's taking a ton of heat for it but I'm sure he's sitting by the pool fanning himself with hundreds. I'm not a big news person and not even sure if I get Current TV, but I guess it doesnt' matter now. Chances of me EVER watching Al Jazeera are slim to none.
For anyone who hasn't checked out the ABC show, Nashville, now's your chance to catch up. CMT is running the entire season to date starting this Sunday 1/6 at 2pm. You can get up to speed before the next first run episode of Nashville airs on Wednesday night 1/9 at 10pm. Connie Britton is so good in this role. I still love Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights more than Rayna Jaymes, but that's really unfair since Friday Night Lights was the best show EVER. Don't even get me started, I STILL miss that show.
Adam Levine is hosting Saturday Night Live on 1/26. I'm hoping most of the sketches require him to be shirtless. No idea if he's funny or not, but we do know he can act from his American Horror Story guest spot. Honestly, who even cares, if he isn't funny? He can sing, he plays guitar and he could really just stand center stage for an hour and half and smile and I'd watch him and I'm betting just that would get great ratings!
Friday's Trivia Question: Guess the movie I watched last night: "Bathing is a lonely business...except for fish...fish all bathe together"
Have a great weekend! Don't forget to watch the Season 3 premiere of Downton Abbey!
