This week on Real Housewives of NJ, we had all the normal stuff really. Teresa and Melissa were both still going on and on about exactly what day Melissa visited her father-in-law in the hospital. Rosie, Kathy and their Mom, all had dinner and discussed how Kathy sent her kids to visit Teresa's Dad, aka her uncle, in the hospital but she didn't go. Melissa's writing a book about marriage and of course this made her cry because it brought back memories of her father. I got the feeling that her Dad wasn't the greatest guy in the world. He went out for milk and came back days later, who knows, but anytime anyone says anything about some one's dad on this show...screaming or crying is the result. Lesson to any future housewives, DON'T TALK ABOUT ANYONE'S FATHER. Albie and Chris are opening a restaurant called Little Town NJ. Not sure if BLK water is on the menu, but if their Dad got his wish, grilled cheese without the crust is. Last week Jaqueline went to Get Fit, the gym that everyone suddenly works out at, but this week she had her trainer come to the house and "chat" to burn calories instead of actually working out and sweating to burn them. Teresa and her Mother-In-Law went for pedicures and Teresa's Mom had some great advice..."Don't Spit in the air because it will come back in your face" WTF? Great advice Mom. At Richie and Victoria's birthday party, Caroline held court, rolled her eyes and gave more advice to Melissa on how to handle Teresa because Caroline, who isn't speaking to her own sister, is the queen of family advice. Of course the highlight or should I say lowlight was Teresa and Joe's fight at the gym. How awkward, pathetic and disgusting. I gotta give Joe Gorga credit though, he gave it right back to Teresa and called her out on everything. She got SO angry she threw a bottle of water in his face and knocked over a garbage can. She is a disgusting excuse for a human being. Ugh, I feel for Joe Gorga, I really do.
Joe Gorga hat count for this episode: 4
Nick Wallenda's Grand Canyon Walk
Can you imagine the family dinner conversation at the Wallenda's house? Hey Nick, what're ya going to do next weekend? I'm going to walk 1500 feet in the air across the Grand Canyon without a net or a harness. That's cool, we have a soccer game and then a birthday party and then we really need to do some food shopping. Let's meet up later for celebratory prime rib around 8pm at Capitol Grille. Okay. Did you guys watch last night? The first hour was all fluff and info about the wire, the slippers, the Grand Canyon etc. But when Nick just hopped on the wire in just his blue jeans,Discovery T-Shirt and that long pole, I was glued to the set. Couple of things...
- No harness or a net or anything
- you let your kids watch this? That's gotta do some serious damage, especially if they don't want to go into the family biz.\
- Do you think there was anything special in those ballet slipper/tightrope shoes? I kept thinking magnets or something
- Nick was on the wire for 22 minutes and 54 seconds
- Nick called out to God, Father, Lord, Jesus, King, Saviour, Christ, Jeshua (never heard that one before) 143 times in 22 minutes and 54 seconds
- Guessing that Joel Osteen is a family friend and perhaps spiritual advisor since he was the only real celebrity on sight.
- Nick's Dad who sounded and looked a LOT like Wilfred Brimley HAD to be getting on his nerves talking in his ear the entire time. He was getting on mine.
- It was CRAZY windy
- The photography of this event was unbelievable, I could have watched Nick walk forever
- What in the world is Nick going to do next?
After my heart stopped racing and I calmed down from the Grand Canyon walk, I started watching Morgan Spurlock's Inside Man on CNN. Each week, Morgan goes inside and gets the scoop on a particular topic. This week was legalized marijuana. I admit, I fell asleep half way through, but that was really because of the Sangria I consumed at dinner and the exhaustion from the Grand Canyon walk anxiety, not the show. The show was pretty good, and thankfully I Tivo'ed it so I can finish watching it tonight. Morgan went inside the Harborside Health Center in California which is probably the busiest medical marijuana dispensary in the US. They service 600-800 stoners, I mean patients, a day. A guy named Steve Angelo, who looks exactly like Kevin Spacey but with long Pippi Longstocking braids, runs the place and takes it all very seriously. Harborside is non-profit which is a bummer because they sell 75,000 bucks worth of gange EVERY day! Cool show...can't wait to see the end.

-Okay, so my son left for camp on Saturday and I have a bit more time on my hands. I've been thinking (and reading) a lot about the Emmy nominations etc. and I love award shows, so I was thinking of having my own awards...the WWTMMY's. So...the first category that I am looking for nominees for is: Best Actor in a Drama. I am platform agnostic, anyone that you feel is deserving from any screen at all, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Cable, Broadcast, whatever...send your ideas in.
Monday's Trivia Question: Who won the Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama LAST YEAR?
