-Discovery Channel's first mini-series ever, Klondike, delivered 3.4 million viewers Monday Night and was the networks most watched Monday night in its history.

-The Flowers in the Attic books scared the cr*p out of me back in the day, so I didn't watch the movie on Lifetime Saturday night, but 6.1 million people did watch. It just goes to prove to all of those network execs that if you schedule programs on other nights, other than Sunday, people will watch, they will even watch it live.

THE SHOWS
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Remember the other day when I was watching the Golden Globes and I was dumbfounded at how the Hollywood Foreign Press gave awards to Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence for their work in hilarious comedies, The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle? Well, after they voted Brooklyn Nine-Nine Best Comedy, I thought I'd give it another shot. With the snow, I was all caught up on everything else at 8:30pm last night so I tuned in to the show that beat Modern Family, Girls, Big Bang and Parks & Rec and I came to the following conclusion. The Hollywood Foreign Press has no idea what comedy is. None whatsoever. Brooklyn Nine-Nine isn't funny. Not only is it not funny, but it shouldn't even have been nominated. I could think of quite a few other shows that SHOULD have gotten Brooklyn Nine-Nines Globes spot. Now that I think about it, Girls isn't a comedy either. WTF is wrong with the Hollywood Foreign Press? 30 Rock was still eligible, they should have been nominated, or what about my GOLDBERGS?

The Goldbergs
Back in 1980 whatever, this TV addict didn't have cable TV and had to go around the corner to my Grandma's house to watch a local dance show from Philadelphia called Dance Party USA. If you watched it, then you would have been freaking out during The Goldbergs last night when Adam was watching DPU on TV. I was screaming at the screen and reminding my family that Kelly Ripa used to dance on that show.  Adam Goldberg you rock!. If that didn't bring me back to the 80s, there was plenty of other stuff like: Adam's Real Genius T-shirt, Reeboks and EG Smith socks, parachute pants, Boo Berry cereal, "Safety Dance", Break Dancing, Fraggles, Boom Boxes, Jazzercize, distressed jeans and the Thriller dance moves. Too much for me, I saved it to watch the episode again. In addition to all the nostalgia the story of Adam's first school boy/girl dance was utter perfection. Wendi McClendon-Covey out did herself last night. Right from the start she had me rolling when she picked up Adam at school for his dentist appointment and screamed out the window "Do you have to make?" Loved her teaching Adam to dance and then getting super cool (super noisy) matching parachute pants. As the ultimate Smother, you knew she'd end up chaperoning, but she also ended up getting everyone to dance and saving the night. As much as the show was hilarious, I did get a little choked up when Adam mouthed "I Love You Mom" to Bev while he was dancing with Dana Caldwell. I don't believe I've ever give Sean Giambrone, the actor who plays Adam a real shout out in this blog, but he's amazing.  Adam Goldberg, wherever you are, I can't thank you enough for my 22 minutes of 80's heaven each week. The shows getting better and better, this was the best episode yet.
Goldbergs Trivia: Name the song and the band that Adam and Dina slow danced  to in last nights episode.

Opposite Worlds
Last night was the premiere of a great new game show on Syfy called Opposite Worlds. Full disclosure, Verizon is a sponsor of the show.  I previewed it prior to last years upfront and thought it would be a cool show to partner with. The Verizon technology is a great fit in  future world. It was exciting to finally see the show come together. Shockingly, I wasn't disappointed. The host, Luke Tipple, is Australian and looks a lot like Glee's Matthew Morrison. Not sure why we met the contestants in their underwear, but 6 of them got slick white outfits and went into a luxurious future world. They had food, comfortable beds, technology, warmth etc. The other 6 contestants went to a world of the past. Caveman times. Freezing temperatures, hardly any food and they had to sleep on burlap bags. The crazy part is that the two worlds are attached and both teams can see everything that is going on in the other world. Of course the two teams compete and whoever wins chooses the world they go back into. In the first competition, 2 people got seriously injured. It wasn't the safest competition in the world. A player from each team grabbed a Darth Maul taser and tried to electrocute their opponent and push them off a 10 foot high platform. In addition to the competitions, America can tweet in rewards and punishments for their favorite players. I didn't realize that it was a 2 day commitment but I'm in. The world of the past SUCKS, I can't wait til the current future team ends up on that side of the house and is freezing and starving and sleeping in dirt. This ones gonna be good guys. I'm usually right.

Cougar Town
The writers of Cougar Town have finally figured out the perfect formula to drive tune in and keep everyone happy while watching their own show. Cool thing is that their formula can now be applied to any show really. Puppies and boobs. Yep, now that I think about it, puppies and boobs could really be THE perfect combination to drive tune in. Most everyone likes puppies and lets be honest, most everyone can by hypnotized and mesmerized by the perfect pair of boobs especially if they're showcased properly. Last nights Cougar Town had both. Dog Travis had knocked up some random b*tch and Bobby needed Ellie to put on her evil lawyer suit and get him puppy visiting rights. Jules and Grayson got suckered into attending a clients wedding. Jules chose a lovely dress that really accentuated her upper assets in such a way that you really couldn't change the channel if if you wanted to. If you haven't seen the episode, I'd recommend checking it out just for the puppies and boobs factor alone.

THE OTHER STUFF

-Tonight on Pivot,  the network I don't have but really wish I did, another cool show I need to find online, Dark Rye. The show was created as an online magazine by Whole Foods market in 2012 and will look at food, health, sustainability, design, technology and social enterprise. I'll find it and check it out as soon as I can.

-I didn't see this happen on Saturday night at the SAG Awards, but this just goes to show that, stars... they're just like us. Even celebrities suffer from spoiler alerts problems. I don't want to spoil this spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't seen Homeland yet. If you're totally up to date though, you have to check it out. Another reason to love Jennifer Lawrence. http://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/jennifer-lawrence--super--homeland--fan--has-the-realest-brody-reaction-ever--video-182338472.html

-I meant to DVR and watch Enlisted, there's a guy on the show that I really love, Chris Lowell, plus the guy from Suburgatory. Sounds like it's already in trouble since FOX is moving it to Friday nights at 9:00pm.  Chris Lowell was in a really cool show called Life As We Know it. It had to be like 9 or 10 years ago. It was only lasted one season, and only 13 episodes, but if you have nothing better to do someday, it's a good binger as long as you've completed everything else on my list.

-According to a new study, an increasing number of consumers are opting to pay for Netflix, Hulu or any other Internet video service instead of subscribing to HBO or Showtime.
  • Total US households that subscribe to HBO, Showtime, Starz and other premium channels decreased by 6% over the past 18 months from 38% to 32%
  • During the same time period, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Instant Video increased 4% from 23% to 27%
  • The report doesn't really say that consumers are dropping one service for another, it's more an addition to their overall portfolio.
  • Showtime reported that they actually increased their subscribers over the past year to 23 million from 22 million
  • HBO's subscribers have been flat with 28 million
  • Starz reported they picked up a million subscribers in 2013 and is now at 22 million
  • Netflix had 31.1 million US streaming subscribers at the end of 3Q 2013 up 24% from a year ago (they're reporting their 4Q numbers today)
  • Overall pay-TV distribution is dropping. In August 2013, 86% of US households subscribed to cable, satellite or a telco TV service down from 88% in 2010
