Glee, The Goldbergs, Dallas, Resurrection, Chasing Maria AND The Cougar Town Season Finale...

Congratulations to reigning WWTM Trivia Champion, Monica Caraffa. Monica is the winner again for the month of March. A lot of you guys are SO close to knocking Monica out each month. My suggestion...read the blog carefully the extra bonus questions can make all the difference in winning a prize.  One other trivia tip...the blog is usually posted on Twitter and Facebook earlier than the email blast if you want to get a jump on it.

April's a brand new month. All correct answers count, so get them in and good luck.

THE SHOWS

Glee
I guess there's just no more adults, no more Lima, no more McKinley. Everyone's in NYC together.  I got nervous that they were back to singing songs nobody would know or care about when the first song was "Downtown" and the second one was "You Make Me Feel So Young," but they got back on track with Imagine Dragons and Great Big World but I still blipped through "People" at the end.  Rachel's gotten to be THE most annoying person on television. I don't like anything about her anymore. NOTHING. Blaine's smothering Kurt and cooking breakfast in a wife beater, boxers and loafers. Not a great look at all. Adam Lambert's a great therapist and Sam finally got cute again. Mercedes is back because she NEEDS to be in NYC and everyone's living in 2 apartments. I really am ready for Glee to be O…V…E…R.

The Goldbergs
Not the BEST episode of the season, but even a mediocre episode of The Goldbergs leaves me with that stupid smile on my face. Remember the Presidential Fitness Test? The one Reagan and Ahhhnold made us take? Yeah I do too. UGH. Adam wanted a note from home so he didn't have to do those pull-ups and you know Bev Goldberg. She'll do ANYTHING for her son. If that meant getting a note from Reagan himself, she'd do it. So she hit the capitol and annoyed the COMPtroller so much that she was able to get something with a presidential seal on it getting out of the test but Murray got Adam to do that pull-up and Adam got Murray to swim.  This week it was actually the Erica/Barry/French pen pal story that got the most laughs. Erica had Barry saying crazy stuff in French, mainly about cat farts. It was funny, but ya had to be there. Did you catch the cereal Barry was eating? 10 points if you did and of course 10 points for the song! Oh...the COMPtroller was right COMPtrol...isn't a word.

Dallas
It's all about John Ross. Everyone keeps telling this guy that he's just like his Daddy and while we see glimpses of good, we are seeing him become his Dad right before our own eyes. He's making enemies all over the place. Inside the family, outside the family doesn't really matter. Problem is that when you have enemies you have to be SO careful and John Ross isn't that careful. There are cameras everywhere and one of um caught him going down on Emma. Sure he really didn't want to do it, but she's a crazy horny b*tch and blackmail makes for interesting bedfellows, so down he went. Just because he was being blackmailed didn't mean he couldn't turn the tables and do some of his own. He had some photos of a judge in a whorehouse and used them to commit his Mom to a looney bin, getting her shares and voting to take the company public just so he could have controlling interest of the company. Poor Sue Ellen. I could have told her from that first flask alert that she'd be stumbling around her house in a couple of episodes. What I don't get is why Bobby and Christopher always look so shocked by what goes on with John Ross. Jesse Metcalf's so good looking but his character is SO boring that I just skip past any scenes with him in them now. Anna Lyn McCord, her kid, her husband. Come on Christopher...get some b*lls!

Resurrection
I'm still watching. So far, just like The Returned, not a lot of answers. Just more questions, more dead people turning up and more freaked out towns people. The creep factor's not too bad yet, but I still feel like it's going to get there and I'm going to bail just like I did with The Returned. All the dead people aren't sleeping and their still eating their loved ones out of house and home but not much else. Turns out that the pastors ex who just came back committed suicide so that was something different, but again, no answers as to why they're all coming back and what their plan is. If they are aliens I'm out. Just sayin.

Chasing Maria Menounos
It's only 22 minutes, it's easy to watch and it's just so nuts. Maria's father is obsessed with Maria marrying a Greek guy. Maria's been with Keven (I hate the way he spells his name) for 16 years. This guy seems to good to be true. (So did Dean McDermott and look what happened with him) He does everything for Maria, EVERYTHING. He even has no issues with Maria's parents living in their home with them. Keven's a saint. He's even decided to convert to Greek Orthodox for her.  Now the hard part…telling his Mom.  A Roman Catholic Italian Mom. She's going to freak out next week if he gets the b*lls to tell her.

Cougar Town Season Finale
There's something about Cougar Town that I really enjoy. It's not the best sitcom ever made or anything, but it's a lot cuter and funnier than people give it credit for. Maybe now that we all need a new "gang" to hang out with, we should take a look at the Cougar Town gang with an open mind. Sure they're a bunch of over drinkers who barely work at all, but they're sweet and you actually feel the love and devotion they have for each other. Maybe I'm just feeling sentimental. It's been an emotional few days between The Good Wife, How I Met Your Mother and Lindsay Lohan. In the season ender, Jules had her yearly physical and borrowed Laurie's pee for obvious reasons. When the doctor called telling Jules that she/Laurie was pregnant, she had to find a way to break the news. Nobody seemed to be too upset that Travis knocked Laurie up. The guy doesn't have a job and he's only 22 years old, but since Jules was his age when she got married and had Travis, all seemed right in the world. So I guess next season's finale will include a wacky birth episode.

THE OTHER STUFF

-Yesterday was April 1st, so I wasn't sure if the Michael Strahan story was true. I hate posting anything that isn't confirmed but supposedly Michael will be doing double duty. Good Morning America and Live with Kelly and Michael.  Nobody really knows exactly WHAT he'll be doing over there, but with Josh and Sam gone they need a guy and they need one fast. Michael's a guy and he's geographically convenient to boot. I say spend a year with rotating guests hosts like Kelly did. That might get the ratings up. Worked for Kelly.

-Are you guys 24 fans? I was when it was on. I don't think I watched the last season, but I don't remember why. For anyone who has never watched 24, now's your chance. The show is now available on Amazon Prime. Jack Bauer is one of the best characters ever. He's pretty much indestructible, he never eats, sleeps or goes to the bathroom and is still able to save the world from evil forces in 24 hours.  I think I may add 24 to the Binge List. Check it out.

-Comedy Central launched it's Watch App yesterday. I haven't downloaded it yet, but it does have full episodes of The Daily Show, Colbert, South Park and more. I don't have time to be a devoted Daily Show disciple and I'm really not a news person at all, but I've always enjoyed Jon Stewart so maybe this will be a way I can stay closer to him.

-It's at least a year away, and I rarely write about shows until they're actually on the air, but Netflix is about to start production on a 10 episode drama called Narcos. It's a story of Pablo Escobar and the rise of the Medellin drug cartel. No idea at all who is starring in it, but it's got great people and Netflix behind it and I'm calling it now…this is going to be a JUICY one!

-I can't remember if I've every written about Friday Night Tykes. If I haven't, I apologize. I should have it's worth mentioning and was renewed by Esquire for a 2nd season. These coaches aren't at all like Coach Eric Taylor and sometimes it's hard to watch, but it's compelling enough to suck you in.

-Okay for those of us that are Game of Thrones fans, Sunday night can't get here fast enough. For anyone who has wanted to jump on the GOT bandwagon, here's your chance. Of course you have to call in sick to work on Friday and blow off all of Saturday and Sunday's plans,  but if you're up for the challenge, get your snacks, get comfortable and turn on HBO2 at 9am Friday morning for a Game of Thrones marathon. All 3 seasons, in a row an you'll be done in time for the start of Season 4. If I could…I would, but I've got a busy weekend already. If anyone does it…let me know.

Wanna know how much time you've spent watching so much TV? Check out this website. It calculates it and makes you feel like a big loser. I gave up pretty fast mainly because you have to type in the shows. There isn't a list to pick from. It's still eye opening and unsettling which is why I got out fast. http://tiii.me/

Wednesday's Trivia Question: I'm being asked for an EASY non How I Met Your Mother trivia question…Easy one:  Name the NFL Team Michael Strahan played for. Harder one...what was his number.

I MET HIM! THE FIRST STEP TO FBFF STATUS HAS BEEN TAKEN!

THE ANSWER TO TUESDAY'S TRIVIA QUESTION: Leonardo DiCaprio starred in Growing Pains and Wolf of Wall Street
FIRST FIVES: Lance Beitler, Bob Kaplan, Ed Ziskind, Bill McLaughlin & David Gorin
HONORABLE MENTION: Elizabeth Mahoney

ME & JIMMY
I didn't want to say anything, in case it didn't happen, but last night, I met him. I MET JIMMY FALLON. I wasn't wearing a ridiculous Thanksgiving Day Parade costume either. My friends at NBC threw a party to celebrate The Tonight Show over at 30 Rock for all of us wonderful advertisers and Jimmy, and Steve Higgins were there. I wish someone video taped me AFTER I spoke to Jimmy the first time. I couldn't catch my breath. My heart was coming out of my skin and I literally was speechless. Jimmy couldn't have been any nicer. I told him about our first meeting and showed him the photo of us at the Thanksgiving Day Parade and how it really wasn't the outfit I'd envisioned meeting him in. THEN after we spoke the first time, I went back for more, got a photo and told him that I keep submitting my hashtag entry for the lyrics-you-get-wrong-contest and he asked me what my entry was. I told him that I thought Bruce Springsteen's "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" was "Dead Devil in the Freezer Aisle" and he sang it back to me AS BRUCE. It was magical. I hope the professional pics came out good because the chick I gave my phone to was a sucky photographer. I did get a good one with Higgins though. I'll see if I can post it on Facebook. Steve and I chatted for a while, he's a great guy too. I also had a chance to speak with Jimmy's showrunner, Josh Lieb, who told me that the reason the Apple logo is no longer visible on Jimmy's laptop is because Apple won't pay the show for the placement. There's one question answered.  Anyway, it was a REALLY fun night. Thanks to my friends  at NBC for inviting me and taking such good care of me all night and thanks to my FBFF, Jimmy Fallon.

Overall, the Sochi Olympics were down 12 percent in viewers versus 2010′s Vancouver Olympics. This is partially due to the tape-delayed nature of European Olympics versus the live telecast of a North American Olympics. As a matter of fact, Sochi was actually up 6 percent versus 2006′s Torino Games, which had a similar tape delay issue. The Sochi Closing Ceremony was down 29 percent in comparison to Vancouver’s but they didn't have to worrry about Walking Dead, the Dowton Abbey finale or the Daytona 500 back then. Times have changed.

Dallas's third season premiere Monday night delivered 2.7 million viewers matching its season-two average. The premiere garnered 1.1 million adults 25-54 and 946,000 adults 18-49. Those deliveries are also consistent with the show’s second-season average.

THE SHOWS

GLEE
I wasn't sure if I'd care about Glee when it returned last night. I'm not sure why, I think I'm sort of over it, but I usually finish what I start so I'm in until the lights go down on this one. For some reason, they're talking graduation and valedictorian and its only February. A little early don't ya think writers?  There was a battle for class valedictorian between Artie and Tina Cohen Chang that got SO ugly that she accidentally pushed him out of his wheelchair. The reaction shots were a bit over the top if you caught them. Especially Mr, Schu's. If you have it on your DVR, replay it. You'll see what I mean. Rachel and Santana are in a battle of their own now that Santana won the understudy role in Funny Girl. Rachel went insane and left the loft. There were a lot of close ups on Rachel last night which really showcased the fact to me that she needs to go over to the Anastasia eyebrow place and have them do a serious tweezing/waxing combo. I didn't love any of the songs from last night although it was good to hear "Whenever I Call You Friend" but Artie's not the greatest singer in the world so he sort of ruined it for me.

COUGAR TOWN
Courtney Cox directed last nights Cougar Town episode. I watched it with my husband and my son and there was actually some real laugh out loud moments coming from them which is worth noting. They're a tough crowd. More battling, it must have been the theme of the night  (you'll see it continues into Fallon too). Jules was so impressed with Travis and Laurie's brunch that she had to one up them with an over-the-top dinner that turned into a disaster. Andy was also competing. He was trying to be the more fun parent by taking Stan to the beach which also turned into a disaster. Good job Courtney.  You had the Carruba men laughing last night and that's an accomplishment to be proud of.

THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JIMMY FALLON
My FBFF told me that last nights Lip Sync battle was amazing and he wasn't kidding. You gotta check it out. I say start a Lip Sync Tournament of Champions, Jimmy. Paul Rudd could possibly kick Joseph Gordon Levitt's ass big time.
http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/segments/1676

LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS
2nd night was better than the first. Still too much blue, still a weird desk and chair. Still weird to have pencils and an Ipad BUT the monologue was better, the audience bit was good, and lets be honest, we can watch Kanye West forever. Seth seemed to be a real Kanye fan unless he was just SUPER prepared, but he knew a lot about his music and his albums and I think he did a great job with Kanye.

THE OTHER STUFF

-Broad City on Comedy Central has been renewed for a 2nd season. I only learned the other day that Amy Poehler produces the show. I've never seen it though, now I feel like I need to check it out. I'll let you know when I do.

-Syfy is cancelling Being Human after its current 4th season. I used to watch Being Human but once the stories stopped being about the characters trying to actually BE human I stopped watching. The show got too dark, too fast for me.

-This weeks host of SNL is Jim Parsons, but NEXT week's host will be...Lena Dunham. I'm sure I will love and hate watching it.

THE SHOWS

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
Okay, with all the insanity and everything that went on during Monday's episode of RHOBH, The thing I was most OBSESSED with was Yolanda's painting patio. Did you happen to see it? She has this patio that you have to climb some crazy steps to get to. Somehow she schlepped canvases, paints, paintbrushes, food, drinks etc. all the way to the top so that everyone could paint pics for her daughter Gigi's apartment in NYC. (I'm betting the staff did all the schlepping since Yolanda is battling Lyme's Disease, but if she wants me to think she did it all herself, okay, I'll go with it.) The patio overlooks the ocean and is absolutely magnificent. I can't believe people live like that EVERY day. Incredible. Okay, now over at Cuckoo for cocoa puffs Carlton's house where she was having an adult pool part with naked painted women, pole dancers, Hustler goody bags and more.  Brandi and Yolanda and even Joyce seemed okay with it all but Kyle and Lisa were a little put off as expected. Cartlon's out of her mind bat sh*t crazy. Now Kim is crazy too, but in a totally different Beverly Hills medicated ex-child star kind of way. Kim went to one of those celebrity autograph signing conventions where the most bizarre, pathetic, members of society show up to worship ex-celebrities. Crazier still was when Jimmy McNichol...yes, THAT Jimmy McNichol. Kristy's bro, whose Tiger Beat magazine poster was on my bedroom wall, showed up to say hi to Kim. He's in desperate need of some dental work, but I'm guessing things are tough for good old Jimmy. While Kim was hanging with Jimmy and her fans, Kyle was out earning a buck on Days of Our Lives. Looks like a big fight next week. There's just something missing when an episode doesn't have a catfight in it.

Hart of Dixie
All week, the promos for Hart of Dixie had me thinking that maybe, just maybe, it was Zoey and Joel who'd break up, but it was Brick and Shelby (who weren't really back together) and Lindley and George. I really want George back with Tanzy, but I also really want Wade with Zoey. I have a feeling that Joel's sticking around, especially now that he and Zoey are finally buying (not renting) a house in Bluebell. No need to worry about that big town merger with Fillmore since Shelby's baby Daddy declared Bluebell a historic landmark thanks to a toilet seat of all things, so that storyline is over thank god. Did anyone notice that Harley, Vivian's annoying kid (still not as annoying as Modern Families, Lily) is the same annoying kid from Masters of Sex? I did. I also caught that Aunt Winnifred was Helen Hunt sister from Mad About You and that the Governor was the Dad from Family Matters. Fun little game right? Glad these guys are working.

Cougar Town
It was Buccaneer week in Gulf Haven on Cougar Town, so all the extras were wearing pirate hats and costumes which was sort of lame. Ellie had to act charming to kiss up to some socialites and Laurie had to make erotic cakes to get customers into her bakery. Chellie, charming Ellie, was sort of enjoyable since she hasn't been out in 10 years, the pirate jokes weren't that funny, and I wasn't sure if there was or wasn't killer jellyfish in the ocean, but once Bobby and Andy stripped and gotten bitten up, we knew that Bobby was telling the truth. What do you call a somewhat enjoyable but not that funny sitcom? Cougar Town.

THE OTHER STUFF

No real surprise that productions been shut down on Sean Saves the World. The show was super lame. I don't feel THAT bad for Sean Hayes since his other show, Hollywood Game Night, is doing just fine.

Not sure how I feel about the Emmy's moving to Monday night, August 25th. I'm away on vacation in Long Beach Island then so I'm not really plugged in and award show ready. Of course if they're on, I'll watch, but it feels wrong to me. I mean Big Brother's still on then, I'm usually pretty shot after a long beach day, you know the deal. NBC's making a big move to air the show on a Monday, it hasn't been done since 1976 for a reason guys.

Good news Haven fans, Syfy renewed the show for 2 more 13 episode seasons.

-Discovery Channel's first mini-series ever, Klondike, delivered 3.4 million viewers Monday Night and was the networks most watched Monday night in its history.

-The Flowers in the Attic books scared the cr*p out of me back in the day, so I didn't watch the movie on Lifetime Saturday night, but 6.1 million people did watch. It just goes to prove to all of those network execs that if you schedule programs on other nights, other than Sunday, people will watch, they will even watch it live.

THE SHOWS
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Remember the other day when I was watching the Golden Globes and I was dumbfounded at how the Hollywood Foreign Press gave awards to Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence for their work in hilarious comedies, The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle? Well, after they voted Brooklyn Nine-Nine Best Comedy, I thought I'd give it another shot. With the snow, I was all caught up on everything else at 8:30pm last night so I tuned in to the show that beat Modern Family, Girls, Big Bang and Parks & Rec and I came to the following conclusion. The Hollywood Foreign Press has no idea what comedy is. None whatsoever. Brooklyn Nine-Nine isn't funny. Not only is it not funny, but it shouldn't even have been nominated. I could think of quite a few other shows that SHOULD have gotten Brooklyn Nine-Nines Globes spot. Now that I think about it, Girls isn't a comedy either. WTF is wrong with the Hollywood Foreign Press? 30 Rock was still eligible, they should have been nominated, or what about my GOLDBERGS?

The Goldbergs
Back in 1980 whatever, this TV addict didn't have cable TV and had to go around the corner to my Grandma's house to watch a local dance show from Philadelphia called Dance Party USA. If you watched it, then you would have been freaking out during The Goldbergs last night when Adam was watching DPU on TV. I was screaming at the screen and reminding my family that Kelly Ripa used to dance on that show.  Adam Goldberg you rock!. If that didn't bring me back to the 80s, there was plenty of other stuff like: Adam's Real Genius T-shirt, Reeboks and EG Smith socks, parachute pants, Boo Berry cereal, "Safety Dance", Break Dancing, Fraggles, Boom Boxes, Jazzercize, distressed jeans and the Thriller dance moves. Too much for me, I saved it to watch the episode again. In addition to all the nostalgia the story of Adam's first school boy/girl dance was utter perfection. Wendi McClendon-Covey out did herself last night. Right from the start she had me rolling when she picked up Adam at school for his dentist appointment and screamed out the window "Do you have to make?" Loved her teaching Adam to dance and then getting super cool (super noisy) matching parachute pants. As the ultimate Smother, you knew she'd end up chaperoning, but she also ended up getting everyone to dance and saving the night. As much as the show was hilarious, I did get a little choked up when Adam mouthed "I Love You Mom" to Bev while he was dancing with Dana Caldwell. I don't believe I've ever give Sean Giambrone, the actor who plays Adam a real shout out in this blog, but he's amazing.  Adam Goldberg, wherever you are, I can't thank you enough for my 22 minutes of 80's heaven each week. The shows getting better and better, this was the best episode yet.
Goldbergs Trivia: Name the song and the band that Adam and Dina slow danced  to in last nights episode.

Opposite Worlds
Last night was the premiere of a great new game show on Syfy called Opposite Worlds. Full disclosure, Verizon is a sponsor of the show.  I previewed it prior to last years upfront and thought it would be a cool show to partner with. The Verizon technology is a great fit in  future world. It was exciting to finally see the show come together. Shockingly, I wasn't disappointed. The host, Luke Tipple, is Australian and looks a lot like Glee's Matthew Morrison. Not sure why we met the contestants in their underwear, but 6 of them got slick white outfits and went into a luxurious future world. They had food, comfortable beds, technology, warmth etc. The other 6 contestants went to a world of the past. Caveman times. Freezing temperatures, hardly any food and they had to sleep on burlap bags. The crazy part is that the two worlds are attached and both teams can see everything that is going on in the other world. Of course the two teams compete and whoever wins chooses the world they go back into. In the first competition, 2 people got seriously injured. It wasn't the safest competition in the world. A player from each team grabbed a Darth Maul taser and tried to electrocute their opponent and push them off a 10 foot high platform. In addition to the competitions, America can tweet in rewards and punishments for their favorite players. I didn't realize that it was a 2 day commitment but I'm in. The world of the past SUCKS, I can't wait til the current future team ends up on that side of the house and is freezing and starving and sleeping in dirt. This ones gonna be good guys. I'm usually right.

Cougar Town
The writers of Cougar Town have finally figured out the perfect formula to drive tune in and keep everyone happy while watching their own show. Cool thing is that their formula can now be applied to any show really. Puppies and boobs. Yep, now that I think about it, puppies and boobs could really be THE perfect combination to drive tune in. Most everyone likes puppies and lets be honest, most everyone can by hypnotized and mesmerized by the perfect pair of boobs especially if they're showcased properly. Last nights Cougar Town had both. Dog Travis had knocked up some random b*tch and Bobby needed Ellie to put on her evil lawyer suit and get him puppy visiting rights. Jules and Grayson got suckered into attending a clients wedding. Jules chose a lovely dress that really accentuated her upper assets in such a way that you really couldn't change the channel if if you wanted to. If you haven't seen the episode, I'd recommend checking it out just for the puppies and boobs factor alone.

THE OTHER STUFF

-Tonight on Pivot,  the network I don't have but really wish I did, another cool show I need to find online, Dark Rye. The show was created as an online magazine by Whole Foods market in 2012 and will look at food, health, sustainability, design, technology and social enterprise. I'll find it and check it out as soon as I can.

-I didn't see this happen on Saturday night at the SAG Awards, but this just goes to show that, stars... they're just like us. Even celebrities suffer from spoiler alerts problems. I don't want to spoil this spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't seen Homeland yet. If you're totally up to date though, you have to check it out. Another reason to love Jennifer Lawrence. http://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/jennifer-lawrence--super--homeland--fan--has-the-realest-brody-reaction-ever--video-182338472.html

-I meant to DVR and watch Enlisted, there's a guy on the show that I really love, Chris Lowell, plus the guy from Suburgatory. Sounds like it's already in trouble since FOX is moving it to Friday nights at 9:00pm.  Chris Lowell was in a really cool show called Life As We Know it. It had to be like 9 or 10 years ago. It was only lasted one season, and only 13 episodes, but if you have nothing better to do someday, it's a good binger as long as you've completed everything else on my list.

-According to a new study, an increasing number of consumers are opting to pay for Netflix, Hulu or any other Internet video service instead of subscribing to HBO or Showtime.
  • Total US households that subscribe to HBO, Showtime, Starz and other premium channels decreased by 6% over the past 18 months from 38% to 32%
  • During the same time period, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Instant Video increased 4% from 23% to 27%
  • The report doesn't really say that consumers are dropping one service for another, it's more an addition to their overall portfolio.
  • Showtime reported that they actually increased their subscribers over the past year to 23 million from 22 million
  • HBO's subscribers have been flat with 28 million
  • Starz reported they picked up a million subscribers in 2013 and is now at 22 million
  • Netflix had 31.1 million US streaming subscribers at the end of 3Q 2013 up 24% from a year ago (they're reporting their 4Q numbers today)
  • Overall pay-TV distribution is dropping. In August 2013, 86% of US households subscribed to cable, satellite or a telco TV service down from 88% in 2010

True Detective
Still in catch up mode from the Golden Globes, first up last night was HBO's True Detective. Over 2 million people tuned in to see Harrelson and McConaghey Sunday night. I wasn't sure that this one would be for me right from the start. I never really watch detective shows or murder mysteries etc. I watched the entire premiere, and it was okay. As I thought, it's not for me. The murdered girl in the opening scene reminded me of that minotaur/meat chick from True Blood, season 2 I think. I tuned out of True Blood right after she appeared and I won't be going back to True Detective next Sunday. I figure it has to get worse from here with the murders and twists and I'm just not up for it at all. I hope you all enjoy, I won't be partying with you on this one. Acting's good, cast is good, stories just not at all anything I'm interested in. Sorry guys.

The Goldbergs
Didn't this episode bring you right back to those Friday nights at the video store? We had to stop and explain to our 12 year old how it all worked back then. The store card, reserving movies to insure you got the newest titles FIRST,  the late fees, the rewind charges, all of it. He couldn't believe it.  I've had my battles with the video store, just like Murray did. Funny, I looked back at it all quite fondly even though it's all so much easier now. But I looked back at everything from last nights episode fondly. Bev's shoulder pads, Eric Estrada, Duran Duran, Atari Pitfall and even that ridiculous movie Rhinestone. There were a couple of "Smothers" that I remember at Fort Lee High School too, none exactly like Bev though and luckily for me, my Mom wasn't one of them. Gotta say, I didn't picture Erica as a club nerd, and all of her schemes were pretty brilliant, especially the swim instructor scam. My sister pretended to have a job for 6 months and got away with it, so Erica faking her club participation was something I could see my sister doing too. I loved the hair and glasses. Ahhhh The Goldbergs. Goldbergs Trivia: Name the song played at the end, Adam Goldberg's real video store and the two movies that Murray and Adam never returned to it.

Betrayal
Next week is the last episode of this one. Pretty sure it's officially over after that. I had forgotten that it started out with Sarah getting shot and now we know why. Time seemed to have passed as Sarah was moving, Jack's trial was under way and the photography guy was more ingrained in Sarah and her life. So much so that he told Jack that Sarah didn't want to leave him but had to. Jack spilled all the beans non Karsten, so of course we thought his days were numbered and believed he was dead for a second when really he was just setting Karsten's guys up. So what do we want to happen when Sarah wakes up in next weeks episode? Drew or Jack? I'm still hoping she leaves town with Jack and they sail off together. Oliver's annoying and she can take pictures anywhere. Bummer this show was so awesome at the beginning and then sucked when real life set in, but I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed it. It's fine by me that it was just a one season deal. I guess in a way, it had to be.

Cougar Town
I'm taking my "Jumped the Shark" back for now. Last nights episode was so much fun. Jules went paperless and none of her bills were paid, including her car insurance. When she got into a car accident with Matthew Perry she needed to do what she could to not get sued. If that meant accepting his marriage proposal via a flash mob even though she was already married so be it. I'm sure it was coincidental that Florida was in a deep freeze and Bobby actually thought it would snow. Last nights episode had to be "in the can" before this Polar Vortex thing but it worked since we're all freezing these days. Ellie's detective work to try and prove that all of Laurie's crazy stories were lies was also pretty funny. Of course, any  Friends reunion is enjoyable to me, this one had to be one of my favorites though. Monica and Chandler and a flash mob marriage proposal. You could see Chandler doing that, if they had flash mobs back then. That'll get me to take back my "Jump the Shark" proclamation, check it out: http://www.tbs.com/video/index.jsp?cid=1163413

NEWS & INFORMATION:

You gotta see my FBFF and Bruce from last nights show...as always...Brilliant. Bruce actually sang my towns name Nice guns Bruce! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKHV0LLvhXM

Direct TV, and The Weather Channel are in a retransmission battle, so TWC's been pulled off the air for now. As a courtesy to those Direct TV readers who live in the NY/Tri-State area here's today's weather: sun and clouds, high of 49 degrees and a 20% chance of rain.

During yesterday's Television Critics Association conference we heard that the next season of Justified will be the last season of Justified. I've never watched Justified, but yes, Timothy Olyphant is hot and I'm sure I'll get to see him in something bigger and better pretty soon.

I'll remind you guys again in August, but for anyone who is a Simpsons fan or perhaps you've never seen one episode of it like me, all 530 episodes will be available come Auguest on FXNOW exclusively. New seasons will be uploaded as well. So you'll be able to watch every single episode of The Simpsons on the app on your mobile device of choice. (Mine would be my Ipad mini in my Go-Go pillow!)

Wednesday's Trivia Question: A Chandler and Monica reunion definitely gives me reason for a Friends trivia question: What was Rachel's sisters name and what Academy Award winning actress played her?

The Goldbergs
So happy to see Adam, Murray Barry, Erica, Pops and my favorite, Bev Goldberg back on my TV last night. I miss them all when they aren't on. This weeks episode reminded me of my beloved Sony Walkman. OMG I wouldn't go ANYWHERE without it. I loved that thing. Pops's pants were pulled up ultra high, Vic had the Jheri Curl workin, Adam had all of his 80's toys like Megatron, and the GI Joe Aircraft carrier on display...ahhhh those were the days. Barry and Erica convinced Adam that he needed to give up all of them in order to score his first kiss. Loved Adam's ski jacket, but come on guys, didn't you think Adam's science goggles was a great idea to protect him from the, Drakkar Noir cologne cloud. My husband had the same moves back in the day. Bev went to get Adam's toys back and wore this giant sweater schmata (is that how you spell schmata?). That was a fashion item I had forgotten all about. Hope you watched the show to the very end and saw Murray the Maniac. Who was he spoofing for 10 points? An additonal 5 points if you can name the song played in this weeks episode.

Cougar Town
I hate to say it, I really do, but I think Cougar Town jumped the shark last night. Travis and Laurie are together making out all over the place, Bobby's beard kept changing lengths and now he has money via Penny Can royalties. 3 out of 6 members of the cast can barely open their eyes, and if all that wasn't enough, Stan, the kid, had a storyline. I don't know, no matter how cool of a Mom you are, walking in on your kid and your best friend naked in the shower isn't cool...at all. Hate to say it, but maybe 4 years was enough. What'd you guys think?

NEWS & INFORMATION:

-I know I told you all about the Shameless, House of Lies and Episodes marathons over on Showtime, so I'm sure you're all in catch-up mode. For anyone who's all caught up...the first episodes of the new season are also available RIGHT NOW on the Showtime website, YouTube, On Demand, the App and more.  If I have a chance, I'm going to check out Episodes since that's the only one in the bunch I watch. Love getting a jump on things, thanks Showtime.

-I'm SO not a big comic book person. I watched the first episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. mainly because it's my job and I wanted to see if it was a bandwagon I wanted to jump onto. It wasn't, but for all of you Marvel die hards, Stan Lee himself is going to be making an appearance during the February 4th episode. Yep...sweeps stunt!

-My FBFF, Jimmy Fallon and his BFF, Justin Timberlake not only delivered the best SNL ratings in a year, but they also generated SNL's largest ratings increase ever against A18-49 for same day ratings to live plus seven ratings. The show grew from a 3.7 to a 5.5. Total viewers increased from 9.4 million viewers to 13.1 million viewers. Leave it to my FBFF to kick ass big time. Again, if you haven't seen the episode, check it out on Hulu. I think I watched it 4 times.

-You guys know I'm not a Bachelor fan, but I don't judge all of you who are and I know a ton of people were  excited about Juan Pablo. Not just all of you guys but it seems America in general as the Juan Pablo premiere was the highest rated Bachelor premiere in 3 years and lead the night as you can see from the numbers above. The show delivered a 2.7 RA18-49 which was up 17% over last year. 8.5 million viewers tuned in which was up 23% vs. last year. What is it about this Juan Pablo guy, can someone fill me in?

-My friends at TiVO released some info regarding the most binged shows during August-October. I'm sure you can guess what number 1 and probably even number 2 was, but the others will surprise you I bet. Breaking Bad, Walking Dead...sure but NCIS, Castle and Law & Order? A bit shocking no?

Wednesday's Trivia Question: Name Busy Phillips's character's name from Freaks and Geeks.
