THE SHOWS
The Goldbergs
I've missed my Goldbergs. Weeks feel like years when they're not in my Wednesday night lineup. Who'd have thought it would be our Goldberg guys doing crazy stuff for love and not our Goldberg girls? Well, Bev's always doing crazy stuff, like when Adam gave his girl Dana his Nana's ring to prove his love (and keep her from running off with the perfect 10, Anthony Balsamo), Bev showed up at school like a lunatic to get it back and embarrassed Adam SO much that he climbed the water tower in front of what looked like all of Jenkintown to spray paint "Adam loves Dana". It didn't go well when he ran out of paint and wound up with "Adam loves Dan" and then couldn't get down without the nice fireman's help. Of course some kid named Dan was pretty psyched but he was the only one. "F of Dan." After all was said and done, Dana was happy with Adam's Green Hornet ring and Adam. Barry had his own trouble. He had to convince Murray to go to Lainee's house for the big Cowboys/Eagles game so that Lainee's Dad would let her date him. Murray went against his will but when he saw the giant projection TV things were looking up but then, he realized he was in Cowboys country. TROUBLE! Murray tried to control himself and pretend to be a Cowboys fan (because he loves his son), but he just couldn't take it. His cover was blown and I'm sure you can imagine, it didn't look good for Barry and Lainne BUT, Lainee loved the idea of forbidden love and showed up at Barry's anyway which got the Dad's together for the sake of their kids. Not too many 80's references this week. Some Rocky, and a Buns of Steel video, that was really about it. Great bit at the end when Bev went to school in her robe and curlers. It wasn't to embarrass Erica but to bring Adam his lunch but of course that is how it  turned out. Can you imagine your Mom in your school in her robe and curlers screaming "this is my daughter, I baked her in my tummy?" Classic Bev! GREAT tune this week. Can you name the song AND the band for some bonus points?

Modern Family
I'm going to say it. It's time. I'm ready. Modern Family jumped the shark. I can't take it anymore. I knew for sure last night because the kids were barely in the episode (maybe a little bit of Manny but that's it) and I barely laughed. I thought the kids were the problem, but when you have Cam and Mitch at a friends trying to steal back a gift, and Claire and Phil doing that Valentines Day Julianna/Clive Bixby thing, and Gloria's sister going for Jay and not laughing at all, then you know. It's time ABC, pull the plug and let this show go out with dignity. I know you won't, I know you'll bleed it dry until we all HATE it and the numbers sink to oblivion but the show has jumped the shark. It probably did last season, I'd have to think back to the exact moment but I'm officially declaring it over for me. Especially when there's so much other great stuff to watch on Wednesday nights.  I'll catch the good episodes on USA when I need to.

Black-Ish
Black-ish on the other hand is still trending up. A good sign since we're only half way through Season 1. Last night was Valentines Day, or as Dre says "Valentimes Day" (I actually know someone who says Valentimes also...so annoying!) Some great flashbacks to Dre and Bow's first Valentines Day together when Dre had some crazy braids and Bow had super straight hair. Freaked me out a little. Apparently, Dre ALWAYS screws up the holidays and this year was no exception. You know it's going to be bad when you take one look at your wife and you ask her if she's going to change out of that jumpsuit for dinner. Rainbow was NOT planning to get out of her Isabelle Morant Romper, she was planning to go to dinner on Valentines Day in the most un-sexy mechanic's uniform you've ever seen. It went downhill from there. Back at home Lionel Richie Jr, Jack and Zoey were teaching Diane to be nice. She managed to pull it off but realized she wasn't being true to herself. Quick cute lesson over. See how to do that Modern Family? When Dre and Bow got home they came together to deal with the kids fighting over the last slice of pizza and made up in time for some make-up ValentiNe's Day sex. The storyline made sense, there were cute jokes, and the kids, at this point, are still enjoyable and actually can act. Take note. There was  a song in this episode but instead of naming it, give me the name of Dre's screenplay? You know the one about Hip Hop gangsters? Name it for some bonus points.

Empire
Has anyone noticed the amount of animal print in this show? I counted last night. 8 animal print appearances and it's not all Cookie either. There are girls, guys, carpet and furniture all with animal print.  Lucious told the family about his engagement to Anika. Guess who wasn't happy? Cookie! She showed up with a 50 Shades of Gray thing underneath her fur coat and let everyone see EVERYTHING and her displeasure with this news. I had to pause my DVR because I thought I was seeing something you aren't allowed to show in Primetime (non cable Primetime that is) Cookie rules. Of course "Drip Dry" had a cameo and once again the song is stuck in my head. UGH. Jamal and Hakeem both have songs killing it right now. Jamal's is about how much he hates his Daddy and Hakeem's is about how much he hates his Mommy. Some family business huh? Don't forget about Dre. Between him and Vernon, Lucious is free and clear of all charges and some guy they paid off took the fall for Bunky's murder, but now they both know the truth. Mark my words, this isn't the end of that story. Lucious's ALS symptoms are getting worse so he found some Michael Jackson type of doctor who has some unapproved Russian drugs for Lucious to spend all his dough on. The second I heard "Russian drugs" I had a bad feeling. I guess when you're desperate you'll try anything. Courtney Love guest starred as, surprise, a drug addicted former star that Cookie had to clean up. Nooooo probbblem. Cookie made her take off her furs, her bling, her extensions (hair and eye) and sing her pain out and guess what? She sounded just like Courtney Love singing a Sheryl Crow song. There's a lot of bling in this show. Hakeem's mega diamond studs, Anika's mega diamond engagement ring and a new item for the jewelry box, I don't know what to call it...Porsha was wearing a hair necklace around that crazy hair pod. Hairbling? Hairlace? Not sure. Any help here? Thanks to Cookie, Michael's worried about his relationship with Jamal but now everyone should worry. Raven Symone showed up with a kid and supposedly that kid is Jamal's. Lucious will love this when he finds out.

Suits
I know I came late to the party on this one, and I really do love this show but with SO many people now knowing Mike's secret, how does this all end? It can't be good, but since USA hasn't announced renewal plans yet, who knows how long the secret is safe. Last night we got a flashback to when Harvey was still parting his hair to the side and Mike was still a bike messenger. Mike was into a different pre-law student named Claire back then. She looked a lot like Rachel but happened to be Troian Bellasario from Pretty Little Liars AND Patrick J. Adams' real life fiance. Back then, Mike pretended to be a Columbia Law student but Claire found out and just couldn't forgive him. We also found out that Mike's grandma hated Trevor and forbade Mike to move in with him. We all know how that turned out. 6 years ago the Harvey/Louis thing was already a thing. In present day, Harvey, Louis and Mike went on a healing road trip where we all learned that Mike doesn't know how to drive and Louis learned more of the truth and of course forgave him and then gave Mike his first driving lesson...in a brand new RENTED Bentley. So for now, everyone's friends again at Pearson, Specter, Litt. Yeah.

THE OTHER STUFF

- I was on a conference call when it happened, but apparently thanks to a "technical glitch" the first 10 episodes of House of Cards Season 3 were accidentally leaked on the site yesterday. There are photos and video of the opening scene of episode 1, plus all the chapter titles and notes all over the Internet right now, but I didn't want to ruin it for myself or you guys so I didn't read any of it. Except…ONLY KIDDING! I'll wait til 2/27 to watch and then wait another month to discuss. Spoiler alerts take on a whole new thing when it comes to Netflix shows.

-Is anyone awake at the switch? First the House of Cards "accident" Wednesday and then another one on, Tuesday night when CSI promoted next week's SERIES finale instead of SEASON finale. Fans went insane. I can confirm that CSI is not ending guys. Not only isn't it ending, there are more CSI's coming. CSI Cyber, CSI Tenafly, CSI Espanol! Which one's the real one? New game.

-I'm actually not excited about Howard Stern's return to America's Got Talent. Was hoping Howie, Heidi and Mel would find a new guy. I LOVE HOWARD STERN and just about everything he says or does, but  I don't love him on AGT and can't stand how much he talks about the show all season long.

-The Oscars are officially sold out! :30 second spots went for 2 millllllion bucks a 10% increase vs. last year. That's probably the NPH factor. Do you think NPH is worth 10% more than Ellen? I bet the opening number alone is. If NPH's Tony opening number is any indication, the opening Oscar number will be amazing and everyone WILL be there live when the show opens. the question is…will people stick around for the rest of it? I'd say yes…NPH is worth 10% more than Ellen.

-What a cool job, ranking all 141 SNL castmembers. I know I have an awesome job but, Rob Sheffield at Rolling Stone got this assignment, went home, hit the couch, ordered some pizza or sushi or thai food or all of it and watched a million episodes of SNL. Took some notes and came up with a completely subjective ranking of all the SNL cast members since 1974. I sort of agree with his top 10. I'm amazed at how many people I completely forgot all about like Charlie Rocket, Mathew Laurence, Patrick Weathers & Yvonne Hudson. Some are ranked way too low and some are higher than I expected. Check out the list here, let me know what you think. http://www.rollingstone.com/tv/lists/saturday-night-live-all-141-cast-members-ranked-20150211

-If you didn't actually see Jon Stewart's announcement Tuesday night, thought you may find it of interest. I'm going to miss him BUT we both get our breakfast at the same place on LBI during our Summer breaks so maybe NOW he'll have time to sit and chat over a pork roll egg & cheese on a roll.http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/8x3wxa/moment-of-zen---jon-s-announcement

-RIP Bob Simon. I guess that technically makes 3 bad news stories about news guys this week. Hope we're done for a while.
