Under the Dome
SPOILER ALERT! The Under the Dome finale last night left me really angry...the dome is still up!  Were we supposed to be happy with just the mini domes demise?  Was that supposed to satisfy me? The egg exploded with pink stars that went up and then did in fact fall down so Junior, Angie, Nori and Joe's prediction did come true, but we still have NO idea what any of it all means. Are aliens involved? I think so. Barbie/Jack Bauer was left standing there at the end with a noose around his neck. I thought that Barbie/Jack was the monarch, but it was Julia who took to her new title pretty quickly.  Gotta admit, it was nice to see Big Jim/Hank alive and well even though he's a pretty bad dude in this show. Apparently he knew about the pink stars because his crazy wife used to talk about them and paint them and think about them all the time before they drove her mental. Can you imagine what life inside the Renny house must have been like? The three of them are all so insane. I'm not a big Stephen King fan, and this show is exactly why. Crazy unexplainable stuff that would probably send me over the edge if I read it all.  What must life be like at Stephen's house? He's got some wild ideas going on in that head of his. Well...it was a fun Summer Under the Dome and now I have to wait a long time to find out what happens to all those peeps in Chester's Mill.

Newsroom
The season finale of Newsroom was REALLY good.  SPOILER ALERT: I was again concerned that we'd all be bored with the final episode because we knew who won the 2012 election. We also knew that there was no way Will, Mac and Charlie would resign or get fired because HBO already renewed Newsroom for a 3rd season. So how in the world would Aaron keep us interested? Have faith in Aaron I told myself and of course I was right. First, he got us to care about a tiny election in Michigan, then he finally revealed what happened to Maggie's hair which I've been consumed with all season. He shocked us with the big reveal that Don was Sloan's anonymous book buyer and then got me BIG time with Will's awesome marriage proposal to Mac.  So it really didn't matter at all that Obama won the election, we didn't need to care about that.  There was a lot of other little things that were still fun.  Neil's obsession with Mac's Wikipedia page, Jane Fonda ( I just cannot get over how gorgeous she looks-Ted's gotta be kicking himself), Lisa and Maggie's reconciliation, the back and forth between Will and Taylor at the news desk, and the fact that Jim and Meryl Streep's daughter talked to each other way too much on Skype and never used headphones which makes NO sense at all.  Looking forward to Season 3 Aaron.

News & Information:

-Final numbers aren't in yet but Sunday nights episode of Breaking Bad delivered a record breaking 6.4 million viewers and a 3.2 RA 18-49 which was the number one show on all of television if you don't count football.

-Add CBS to the list of networks making their new Fall shows available early on their digital platforms.  Beginning yesterday, CBS was offering viewers a Pre-Premiere of their new show We Are Men on CBS.com and the CBS App, 2 weeks prior to its official broadcast debut on 9/30.  I was thinking...I'm sure the networks are doing this with hopes that early sampling of all of these new shows will generate good buzz and more viewers, but, it could backfire. Viewers could sample the show, and kill it before it even airs on 9/30.  Maybe the nets need to get their back up plans ready just in case.

-Teresa Giudice must be FREAKING out right now. Of all the NJ Housewives to get a spinoff, who'd have thought that it would be Caroline Manzo and her family.  Bravo gave word that menopausal Mom, Caroline and the whole family will be moving forward with a pilot called Manzo'ed with Children.  I'm hoping that we get to see more of Caroline's family and not just miserable Lauren and her brothers, because I'm already bored with all of them.

-Does anyone out there have the new Pivot network? I don't think I do. I keep l looking for it on Optimum but we don't have it yet. I read yesterday that the Millenial targeted network has a new advertiser in Monster.com and they have a great idea for the job-search site. Since finding a job is a BIG worry for the networks 18-34 year old demo, Monster.com and Pivot are joining together to find an associate producer for Pivot's Take Part Live show. Pretty cool right?

-Quick update on last weeks daytime and late night program debuts. Bethenny did okay. She averaged a .8 for the week against Households which is down 20% from her lead in and down 20% vs. the time period from September of 2012. Against W25-54 numbers were flat across the board. Arsenio on the other hand did really well in his late night debut last week with a .7 against RA18-49 which was a tie with Jay Leno for the week. Very interesting.  I don't want to say "I knew it" but...I did! I figured Arsenio would start out strong. Let's see how he progresses as things level out. Late Night's getting VERY competitive, wait til Feb when my FBFF joins the crew at 11:30pm.

-I noticed something very odd about myself last night. I tried to watch the new Netflix show, Derek starring Ricky Gervais. I lasted less than 5 minutes. This happened with the Hulu shows Moone Boy and Run also. What do these all have in common? They are all British shows, but that can't be it because I love Downton Abbey and that's a British show. I think in general it's the accent/humor combo. Downton is a drama, but the others are all comedies. I struggle with the accent/humor combo big time and I know it must say something about my character, but I'm struggling with the story and then their's nobody yummy to look at, so, I'm out.  So...I tried, I really did but Derek's a no for me.

-SNL announced 6 new cast members yesterday, the only one I've seen before is the AT&T guy who sits around the table and interviews the kids. The rest are more unknown than that guy, so it's going to be an interesting season. I'm already missing Stefon, hopefully Bill Hader will host the show or something and bring the guy back.

-Ever sit around and wonder what Andrea Zuckerman aka Gabrielle Carteris is doing these days? I don't, but I just read she's looking to score the EVP gig for SAG/AFTRA.  Nice to know she's out there doing something and not just writing for a school newspaper somewhere.

-I don't watch Dancing with the Stars but for those of you that did, let me know what you thought about their new real-time Facebook activation. The show is the first to broadcast real-time Facebook convos and social data snap shots during the entire broadcast. Just curious if you felt it was engaging and enjoyable or a complete distraction. Fill me in.

Tuesday's Trivia Question: 25 years ago,  in 1988, this show won the Emmy for Best Drama. It was on Tuesday nights on ABC and starred a bunch of unknown actors trying to figure stuff out.

Below Deck
The charter for the week was cancelled due to the guests insufficient funds, so the crew ended up with three days off.  Captain Lee, the most intense man in America, and a guy that apparently NEVER wants to have any fun ever,  wanted to use the time to run fire drills. The first drill didn't go so well and the Captain came down pretty hard on Aleks and the crew. The second drill went much better, but Captain Lee didn't see it that way and still reamed everyone which pissed them all off. So they went out to dinner and got out of control. Eddie, the cutest boy on the boat, was mortified by how embarrassing the crew was so he left them to their own insanity. Kat seems to really have a major problem. Not sure if it's the drinking or the pills or what but she's always a mess. She still wanted to switch rooms with Ben because she hates Adrienne, but when he finally agreed, Kat was pissed off because Adrienne closed the deal and not her. Pretty sure that Kat and Ben hooked up, but neither one of them's talking. At the end of the episode, Kat disobeyed Captain Lee and left the boat even though he cancelled shore leave for the night. Captain Lee is really tough for a guy who gets to sail a 20 million dollar yacht all over the Caribbean. I wonder if he has a family? A wife or some kids maybe?  Okay I need to ask...I know a lot of my readers are friends from my old agency life.  Anyone know a guy named Alan Clack? If you do, don't you think that CJ is his doppelganger?  I checked and they aren't related, but damn they look exactly alike? Anyone out there know who I'm talking about? Anyone? Anyone? Beuler?

Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls
OMG enough with Louis's Bow. She's In the middle of nowhere, surviving the elements, eating disgusting bugs and worms and this chick is wearing a huge purple bow on an odd part of her head. It's just so bizarre. Also bizarre, the P&G reward box that had shampoo, conditioner and a computer for Jim and Austin to check in at home with. Funny, I didn't know P&G sold computers. That was weird.  Not exactly an organic integration at all, but I'm sure that Jim and Austin could care less who gave them the computer.  Carl and Royce were sent packing and quite frankly that was a shock, but at least they got a bunch of BG wear to take home with them. Hats, shirts, jackets, pants, backpacks and socks. What more could anyone want? Maybe a sandwich?

Newsroom
Baba Booey! Mother*fers...I understood that part of Sunday night's Newsroom. I also understood that Will's Dad passed away and he waited too long to call him and he's going to freak out about it at some point. I understood that Maggie totally screwed up the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin 911 call because she's still messed up from Africa.  I understood that Sloan posed for some sexy pics, her ex-boyfriend posted them, Don talked her off the ledge, she went to his office kicked him in the b*lls, and punched him in the face right in front of his co-workers. Awesome! I sort of got the Charlie thing with the guy who confirmed Genoa...sort of. I think the Twitter thing and the kid who wanted to come out on News Night were sort of throw aways but since nothing Aaron Sorkin ever writes is a throw away, I'm guessing there was more to it. Again, I feel like I need to watch Newsroom one more time to really let it all marinate and to be able to appreciate how good it all is, but I can't this week, so I'm just going with it. Also, note to the hairstylist on the show, can you please do something with MacKenzie's hair? She always looks like it could use a brushing or some product or something. If she's wearing $1200 shoes, I'd think she'd be rocking a better hairstyle.

Real Housewives of NJ
A drama free episode of Real Housewives of NJ? Yes! Believe it! I saw it with my own two eyes. It was nice to see everyone together, eating, zumba-ing, laughing, fake kissing, etc. It was also really nice to see Ashlee, Jaqueline's daughter who's been out in LA for a couple seasons. She seems to have gotten her sh*t together and looked beautiful. She was sporting a great big bun and dark red lipstick and actually worrying about her Mommy for a change. I think we should all be a little bit worried about Jaqueline. This week, she flew to LA to get a bunch of cosmetic surgery done. Tummy Tuck, neck lift and I'm betting some other stuff too.  I personally didn't think she needed anything, but I support anyone who wants to feel good about themselves and Jaqueline's in need of a bit of a pick me up with all she's going through. Didn't need to see the skin the doctor cut off her though, that was completely unnecessary. It even had the fat attached to it...ewwwww! I loved Joe Gorga and Gia spending time together, hated Joe Giudice talking Autism with Chris, and am awaiting Caroline's nervous breakdown at any minute. Did you see how upset she got at Greg's goodbye dinner? Is it all menopause oriented? Is that what I have to look forward to? To be honest, I forgot all about Greg and I really like him, but I didn't miss him when he wasn't on camera, so I guess I won't miss him while he's in San Francisco either. How funny was it that Teresa didn't know what a sociopath was and then the ultra awkward moment when she looked it up and read the definition.  Between her stupidity and her husband's inappropriateness, I actually do see how they are together. They're the perfect couple when you think about it.  Okay, lastly...Greg mentioned a "Cancer Hang". Have any of you ever heard of that before? I hadn't, and I admit, I did laugh. I know...not cool at all.

Eat, Drink, Love
I SO wish you guys could hear me imitate the sound of some of the girls voices in Eat, Drink, Love.  Three of them have THE MOST ANNOYING sounding voices ever. They are also 30 year old adults that use the word "like" more than my 13 year old niece. I love restaurants and food and really thought I'd LOVE this show, but the annoying factor is tough to get over. Of course there's gossip, backstabbing, drama and all the stuff I normally love in a reality show, but I don't know if I can get past the annoying shrill of these women's voices. Let's face it, with the current Sunday slate as amazing as it already is, and the Fall TV season just around the corner, I'm really not looking for another show to add to my repertoire unless it's top notch and unfortunately this one isn't.  Sorry Bravo, they can't all be awesome.

News & Information:

-Breaking Bad set all kinds of records Sunday night. I knew it would. 5.9 million people watched the premiere. This was the most viewers of any BB episode to date. It was also an increase of 102% versus last Summer's premiere.  There were 3.6 million A18-49 and 760,000 tweets with 11,799 tweets per minute at some points.  Pretty crazy stuff. Lots of people jumped on the BB bandwagon over the past year. Isn't binge viewing a beautiful thing?  Now for all of you looking for something new to binge view, Orange is the New Black is my reco.

-As one of Uber's newest fans, I was excited to see them partnering up with Bravo and the guys from Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles.  Starting yesterday through tomorrow, to celebrate the shows 6th season premiere, Uber is tweeting out a notification for free rides.  Users must tweet with @Uber, @Bravotv and #MDLLA for the chance to claim a code.  Winners will get a unique promo code to claim their free ride. All fans that participate are automatically entered to win 100 free Uber rides and a trip for 2 to Los Angeles.  Since driving is one of the worst things about LA, I'd say that's a great prize.

-At some point, I had planned on binge viewing The Borgia's, but now that I know that the finale that never happened will be an e-book instead of an actual filmed finale, I'm out. For all you Borgia fans, if you even care at this point, the finale/e-book will be available this week. I'd love to know how many people actually download it. Let me know if you're one of them.

Tuesday's Trivia Question: Each week on Mork & Mindy, Mork filed his observations with his boss back home. Name him.

-I admit it, I blew off most of my blogging responsibilities last night to watch AROD take the field in Chicago. I honestly don't know if there are words to describe this odd phenomenon. I hate AROD...hate. I've never liked him, not since day 1. I've never said anything nice about him and I've hated this entire PED scandal all around. So why, why, did I not only feel the need to watch him last night, but I sort of felt bad for him and actually hoped he got on base. What is wrong with me? I've got issues.

Newsroom
Prior to AROD taking the field, I did watch Sunday nights episode of Newsroom which was awesome. Totally understood it, LOVED that right at the beginning when Jim, Meryl Streep's daughter and the other guy were attempting to check into the hotel and there was only one room left and I thought to myself SO PREDICTABLE, Aaron Sorkin had Meryl Streep's daughter echo my sentiment. Aaron rules. Maggie's story from Uganda( and the background on why she cut her hair) was heartbreaking wasn't it? How awesome is Will? He roasted that Occupy Wall Street chick for the sport of it and what a great little twist that he went to see her after they didn't need her anymore. Keep it simple Sorkin and I'm good...most of us are good actually. Thanks. Great TV.

Below Deck
Unless you really love boats, I'm starting to question why anyone would want to work on a charter yacht.  So far this season, the crew of the Honor have complained about every single tip they've received. None of these charters are more than a few days and a good tip has been 900 bucks per person last night when the boat couldn't leave port due to weather, the crew bent over backwards to make their guests stay as special as possible, they even pulled off a wedding in under 24 hours. Poppa, the groom, a total one upper, when asked when he got engaged replied "On my visit to my 100th country". Okay well, that didn't answer the question and was quite the pompous response, but if you're so awesome, how in the world do you leave a 350 dollar tip to the crew? I hope Poppa watched, was mortified and mailed them a check. What a d*ck.   Dave's missing his fiance Trevor big time and started to question the boating life, Kat apparently dated a drug dealer and did provide the Captain with her prescription for anxiety meds as requested in the last episode.  I never thought of myself as cynical before, but since when are anxiety pills available in a long rectangular box and not in a standard little plastic bottle? I guess if Captain Lee approves, so should Captain Carruba.  Adrienne was even more of b*tch than normal, but Kat's got issues too and really didn't cut Adrienne a bit of slack, neither did anyone else, no wonder she finally had a meltdown. I'm amazed it hasn't happened sooner.

Under the Dome
I watched Under the Dome early this morning. It's just getting crazy stressful in that thing and now. The Darby's are stealing fuel and anything else they can get their hands on. Junior is a nut job with a gun who found out they tried to rape Angie. Of course he killed one of them and Linda got the other. Joe and Nori found a baby dome in the middle of the woods. Joe's a mad genius with some crazy science skills huh? He was able to figure out that the dome must have a nucleus and find it all in 5 minutes under a pile of leaves in the woods. Inside the baby dome was a purple egg that looked like it was alive. When Nori touched it, she saw her Mom and knew something was wrong, so she ran home just in time to say goodbye to her.  She died after delivering Harriet's baby with the help of  Barbie and Julia. Speaking of Barbie, I think he might be the new Jack Bauer. He can do anything. Has Jack ever delivered a baby? Don't think so!  If all that wasn't enough, huge power shift in Chester's Mill.  Big Jim was the king, but now it's that maniac Ollie, the guy with the water who hired one big security goon to take Big Jim's propane. Now he's got it all. Big Jim's not going to go down easy, but things don't bode well for him by the looks of things in next weeks episode. This show is starting to give me the creeps. I would normally never watch this type of thing. Now I'm in way too deep.  I'm screwed.

News & Information:

-I'm not sure why Sunday nights have become the most competitive night of television over the past few seasons, but they have and it is stressing me out in general.  I was having a pretty easy run this Summer so far but...this coming Weekend is looking brutal. So I'd like to know what you guys are going to be watching to help me make my decision easier. Here are my choices if there is something missing, let me know:

Big Brother
Real Housewives of NJ
Eat Drink Love
Newsroom
Teen Choice Awards
Breaking Bad
Low Winter Sun (I'm probably not going to watch this one)
Beyond Spelling Manor
Dexter (I don't watch but I know you guys do)
Ray Donovan (I don't watch but I know you guys do)

Keep in mind that Saturday night you have Larry David's HBO movie, Clear History and the premiere of The White Queen on Starz. If all that wasn't enough, my kid is coming home from camp Saturday which means I sort of have to pay attention to him again.

So...tell me what you're watching this weekend and let me plot out my strategy.

-If Ryan Seacrest wasn't busy enough, NBC has given him the Million Second Quiz hosting gig in September. So lets count. Daily radio show in Los Angeles, produces the Kardashians and a whole bunch of other shows for E! Hosts American Idol and now this show too? Well, there's one thing he isn't...a slacker. How in the world does he do it all? I guess now that he's single he had some time on his hands.

-A few months ago, YouTube started allowing everyone with 1000 subscribers to be able to stream their content live, but now, anyone with just 100 subscribers can live stream on YouTube. They are offering up some cool features too. You can link out to online stores or other sites. YouTube also has a studio in LA for content creators to use for production and will be opening another one here in NYC next October. Just the beginning of all this crazy content creation madness...just the beginning. I'm sure we are all going to be using YouTube to stream weddings, graduations, family reunions etc.  Assume there's a camera ALWAYS on you at this point. Scary right?

-Magic City on Starz, a show I've never ever watched, was cancelled after 2 seasons yesterday. Anyone care?

-Unlike Magic City, Awkward was given good news from MTV yesterday, they are a "go" for season 4. Congrats guys.

-With CBS being off the air in NY, LA and Dallas Time Warner Cable homes, I'm sure you're dying to know what the affect on the ratings have been since the plug was pulled.  Well.  Not much so far.  Saturday & Sunday's World Golf Bridgestone Invitational was up 150% in viewers and 300% in adults 25-54 vs. last year. Friday-Sunday's late local news numbers were up 9% in viewers and 13% in A25-54 compared to the same night last week. The primetime average in NY, LA and Dallas from Friday-Sunday was identical to the same night vs a week ago. Keep in mind that August is one of the lowest viewing months of the year for obvious reasons. Let's hope that things get resolved before NFL kickoff in a few weeks. though.  Whether ratings are affected or not, people are going to freak out without their football, but of course if you find yourself without NFL Football and you are a Verizon Wireless customer, you can download NFL Mobile and not miss much!  (Shameless plug...I know, I know)

-I did tried to watch Disney's Teen Beach Movie hoping it was 1/2 as good as High School Musical, but I thought it was terrible and turned it off after the first 10 minutes.  Apparently I was one of the only ones who did, 13.4 million viewers have checked out the movie since it premiered making it the 2nd biggest movie in cable TV history against  total viewers, kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. What was number 1 you ask? High School Musical of course!

-I forgot to remind you all that Shark Week started Sunday night.  Not many people needed my reminder though, Megalodon,  broke 26 years of Shark Week viewership records Sunday. 4.8 million people tuned in and the show delivered a 2.6 RA25-54. Not only was my husband watching Shark programming in his man cave last night, but he kept running upstairs telling me how cool it was etc. What is about Sharks that everyone loves so much? It's a bizarre thing isn't it?

The Vineyard
I did a bit of research last week to determine if this show was a reality show or if it was scripted. From what I understand, it's sort of a hybrid. Most of the cast are real Martha's Vineyard residents, doing what they do, but it still all feels sort of off to me and I'm just not sure why that is. That doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the show, I am. It doesn't mean I'm cancelling the season pass...I'm not. The Vineyard is fun, stupid and predictable.  Last night, Lou and John were going to kill each other over Katie, the girl everyone seems obsessed with who supposedly has this boyfriend of 4 years named Matt.  A guy who has yet to take her calls, show up for a surprise visit etc. John decided to play it cool but of course he blew it BIG TIME.  He did all the right things...gave her a ride home, took her to a beautiful place on the island and then like an idiot went in for a kiss.  It was the worst move from a hot guy I've ever seen. For a pre-med student, he really is pretty stupid. She got pissed, but then at Lou's party, they made up, agreed to be friends, and he of course, left the party with another girl. So typical.  Lou, the other guy, who I'm guessing will actually end up with Katie, has his own issues. It was his birthday and the girls threw him a huge party even though they barely know him. When he went to say thank you to Jackie for throwing the party, she pulled the exact same awkward kiss move that didn't work for John, but to add insult to injury, Katie saw the entire thing. Lots of other awkward moments including the Ben, Catherine, Gabby triangle, the bizarre soundtrack that randomly stops and starts throughout the entire show with too many different songs and the most awkward moment of the episode, Katie's bike ride to Jackie's Mom's house for 5 seconds of guy advice.

The Writers Room
Before I could watch The Writers Room on The Sundance Channel,  I had to find The Sundance Channel, which was no easy feat. It's not an HD channel on Cablevision. It's channel 192.  I never go into that territory at all. I'm a 700-900 girl.  Anyway, I had heard about this show from my friends at Entertainment Weekly a while ago. I had really been looking forward to it.  It was pretty good, but I haven't decided if I'm giving it a season pass or not.  Jim Rash is the host and in the premiere episode, he had Vince Gilligan, Bryan Cranston and the writers of Breaking Bad as his guests. The show is only 30 minutes. I'm not really sure I learned as much about the writing of Breaking Bad, some of the decisions etc. as I wanted to, but I did learn that the show was not originally intended to take place in Albuquerque, but since there was a 25% discount vs. Riverside California that's where they ended up. Now you can't imagine the show taking place anywhere BUT Albuquerque.  I didn't realize that Vince Gilligan, Thomas Schnauz and a few of the other writers, were all originally from The X-Files.  Other than that, there was too many "inside" jokes and references, too much talking at the same time, and not enough time to really learn about the process etc.  Next weeks episode features the Amy Poehler and the writers of Parks and Recreation.  I guess I'll watch and decide about the Season Pass then.

Newsroom
Finally an episode of Newsroom that I understood 100% of without having to watch twice and depend on Google. Yeah! Will McEvoy was back in full force. The opening Steven Hill sequence was brilliant writing. Thanks Aaron Sorki.  Jim finally lost his sh*t on the Romney bus and we found out why Maggie cut her hair and was acting so odd, that Nina Howard knows every word of Will's message to Mac, that Charlie Skinner has never seen Goodfellas, Scarface or The Godfather, Don's not as handy as he thinks, Sloan has even bigger b*alls than we thought,  Reese Lansing is an even bigger d*ck than we thought and that Mac wears $1200 shoes to the office. Loved the Corporal Klinger reference, the piano playing, and that Will is as mesmerized by a bad toupee as I am. Most of all I loved the two twists at the end of the episode. Don't worry I won't spoil that for you guys.   Great episode. I love it when the show makes me feel smarter. Doesn't happen that frequently, so I will enjoy the moment while I can.

NEWS & INFORMATION:

-ABC was the first network to launch their Watch Now App allowing viewers to watch live programming on their mobile devices in select markets (NY being one of them). But now,  Showtime has thrown its hat in the ring and is the first premium cable net to launch their watch live App...Showtime Anytime. Now you can tune in on your device and watch Showtime programming live.  Like I keep saying...soon its all the time anytime on any device. Poor Nielsen...they better start hiring!

-I can’t believe that on August 21st, E!’s longest running show, The Soup (formerly Talk Soup) will be celebrating its 20th anniversary and Joel McHale will be celebrating his 10th year as host. I gotta admit, this all surprises me a bit. Who needs recaps of anything these days when you can get your own online? For 2 bonus points each, name all of the other hosts.

-Friday, August 2 at 5pm is the new Time Warner Cable/CBS deadline. Sort of good news I guess. It means everyone is still talking and that all of you Big Bro fans will get to find out who the MVP nominated this week, who will win the POV, who gets evicted and probably who the new HOH will be before the deadline.  That's a win for now in my book.

- TiVo (my fave DVR) has done some research and released some great info on one of my favorite topics, “alternative content outlets” Not sure if I coined that phrase or not, but I sort of like it. I’m open to something else though.  Non traditional? Whatever.   Almost 10,000 TiVo Subscribers were surveyed (me being one of them!) and here are some of the results:
  • Those watching Netflix aren't giving up on traditional networks. There has been "no significant difference" in how much time is spent watching the 28 most-watched networks between those who subscribe to Netflix and those who don't.
  • 57% of TiVo subscribers also subscribe to Netflix (I do)
  • 50% of them subscribe to Amazon Prime. (I do)
  • 18% are subscribers of Hulu (I do)
  • A digital-TV-loving 8% actually subscribe to all three. (That would be me!)
  • 18% of those surveyed had watched Netflix's House of Cards (I did!)
  • Households that reported viewing House of Cards, watched 85% more HBO than non-Netflix households (Uh…yeah!)
  •  Netflix households viewed Showtime's Homeland 26 percent more than those who didn't use Netflix. (Me again)
  •  I guess there’s room for everyone…we’ve heard it all before…content is king…if it’s good, people will watch it.
-Update on The Giudices…they were arraigned yesterday at a Newark Courthouse but are free on $500,000 bail. They had to forfeit their passports and are restricted to travel in New York and New Jersey. Joe, who I was surprised to learn was not a U.S. citizen, will be subjected to drug testing. They are now scheduled to be arraigned in federal court in New Jersey on August 14. I wonder if Teresa took my advice about Orange being the new black too seriously?

-I don't report on the upfront and how much the networks each took etc. The main reason I don't is because I have no way to prove the numbers they report and I honestly don't believe the numbers. I didn't want you to think I was a lazy slacker, but I don't like to post stuff that isn't true, that's rumored or that I can't really substantiate, so I hope you guys are cool with that. There are a million other blogs, websites etc. that you can find that info if you want it. (Let me know if you need help. I can point you in the right direction).

-ABC Family renewed Switched at Birth for a third season and given a thumbs up to new shows, The Fosters and Twisted.  Congrats guys. No word on The Vineyard yet huh? I guess I'd stick with it even if it gets cancelled.

-I love that Sharknado is STILL pulling some great numbers. I stumbled upon it the other day and watched part of it again. Saturday's airing was seen by 2.1 million viewers.  Sometimes being so bad is so good even the 2nd and 3rd times around.
