All I watched last night was 3 episodes of WLNY's Brady Bunch Marathon, some US Open and an episode of Friends before the Below Deck Reunion.  I'll watch Under the Dome tonight.  Wish I remembered the Brady Bunch Marathon was on earlier, I would have watched um all.  At least I caught 3 of the best eps ever...The Silver Platters, The "Oh My Nose" and Davy Jones.  Doesn't get better than that! 

Below Deck Reunion
In a nutshell, everyone hated Adrienne on the boat and still does. Sam was a stuck up, entitled snot on the boat and still is, CJ was an arrogant ass on the boat and still is.  The only person who changed at all was Kat who was extremely remorseful about her drunken behavior. During the reunion, she came clean about the lies, and the drinking and admitted it was all unacceptable.  All I cared about was seeing Dave and Eddie again.  They were cute on the boat and still are. Dave has a much hotter haircut now, but I did miss them in their uniforms a bit.  After seeing everyone's disdain for each other on the reunion, I'm pretty sure there will be a different cast next season, no way most of these guys would ever be together again, especially Captain Lee. He seemed pissed off on the boat and that didn't change at all during the reunion. 

Modern Dads 
Hoping some of you guys checked out this new reality show on A&E. It's about 4 real stay home dads, living in Austin and hanging out together.  Stone is the "hot" divorced dad, Nate is the new dad, Rick is the veteran dad and Sean is the stepdad.  Stone looks like Jon Hamm and in between his daughter's story time and planning a princess party for Rick's 1 year old twins he got 2 girls numbers and free cake delivery for the party. Rick has 4 kids and is pretty much a mess, but he's hilarious. His idea of baby proofing is duct tape and a football helmet. Nate is new parent paranoid, and Sean is the man/child type.  We met 3 of the 4 working Mom's who all seem pretty cool, but the role reversal is interesting to watch. Loved seeing Nate running after his toddler, Cormac, while his wife was beckoning for a cup of coffee.  I liked this show and gave it a Season Pass.  It's nice to see the tables turned and the male thought process when it comes to parenting (or anything else for that matter). 

News & Information:

-I'm not a big "I told ya so" kinda person, but with the NFL kickoff just days away, you knew that CBS and Time Warner Cable would reach an agreement juuuust in the nick of time and yesterday at about 5:30pm all of you guys who've been missing Under the Dome, Big Brother, and all those HIMYM reruns, were back in business.  Congrats guys, you made it. Fill me in, what did you do (if anything) during the blackout, to view your faves? I've been broadcasting BB via my Iphone to my BFF Alyssa for a few weeks now. Gotta admit, I'm going to miss her commentary during this weeks veto competition.

-Well ladies, (and perhaps some guys out there too) Jax Teller is the guy.  EL James finally announced her Christian Gray and her Anastasia Steele for the 50 Shades movie next Summer.  Sure I had my heart set on Ian Somerhalder since he would be PERFECT as our fave masochist, but I gotta say...Charlie Hunnam is a great choice.  For anyone that DOESN'T watch Sons of Anarchy, get started now...the new season starts next week. Guarantee you'll feel better about it once you see his naked butt.   Anastasia is going to be played by Kate from the cancelled way too soon FOX comedy, Ben & Kate. I can see her in it. I think she'll be good.  Fun fact, she's Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith's daughter. 

-I did a lot on vacation, read 2 books, competed in my families annual Mini Golf Tournament (nail biting 1 hole tie breaker loss to my husband), hung out with friends, ate...a lot, drank...not as much as I ate, and yes, I did stay pretty up to date with a lot of my shows while on LBI.  During all of this, I made a decision. I'm officially not going to watch any show (other than Big Brother) that requires more than a one hour commitment each week. No Idol, no X Factor and no Voice among others. I hope I stick to it, I do love me some Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, and it's going to be tough to not tune in and check out the new "slimmer" Xtina, but these shows are real time suckers and I just don't have it to give.  I know a lot of you are making this decision right now for yourselves too.  Not sure if this helps, but here's a host/judge cheat sheet for the music competition shows coming up let me know if you'll be watching any of um this season:

-Season 4 of Downton Abbey doesn't start for a while for all of us here in the USA, but in Britain it starts soon, here's the trailer.  Looks awesome and I can't wait! Of course watching the trailer reminded me of Mary and Matthew and last seasons heart breaking finale, but I got over it quickly and now I'm psyched for season 4.

-I did a lot of live commenting on the Watching Way Too Much Facebook page during the MTV VMA's last week, so for those of you that haven't "liked" my page, you missed out on all of the fun.  I don't really want to get into the Miley issue since it's really old news at this point, but net/net, the VMA's ratings were back to 2011 levels, the social buzz was through the roof, and the show, aside from Miley was pretty decent. (I personally would have liked more than 120 seconds of an NSync reunion.) Proof that bad taste and bad publicity yield good results and sales. Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and a bunch of the other artists that performed on the show, all saw immediate sales spikes.   

-As my son and I were going into our favorite breakfast spot during our vacation, a very scruffy Jon Stewart and his daughter (just a guess) were exiting. Jon's back from directing his first feature film and guessing that he too is in his post LBI depression as he heads back to The Daily Show tonight.  Welcome back Jon! It'll get better...I promise. 

-Nobody I know watches Longmire, but for anyone out there that does...good news, A&E gave it a 3rd season. They did cancel The Glades though...again, don't know anyone that would care about that one, but I report it all...that's what I do. 

-Anyone want to get in on The Good Wife and start binge viewing it?  Good news...all 4 seasons are now available on Hulu.  I secretly watched the first 3 seasons a while ago. The show goes against my "no lawyer show" rules. So don't tell anyone.  Hard to fit much more in as the Fall season begins especially since I started watching Dexter while I spin downstairs in my basement, but if I get through all 8 seasons of Dexter, I may go back to Good Wife. It was pretty good, but I got bored with Julianna Marguiles.  I don't get her appeal at all.  She's like a robot. No emotion at all.

Below Deck
The charter for the week was cancelled due to the guests insufficient funds, so the crew ended up with three days off.  Captain Lee, the most intense man in America, and a guy that apparently NEVER wants to have any fun ever,  wanted to use the time to run fire drills. The first drill didn't go so well and the Captain came down pretty hard on Aleks and the crew. The second drill went much better, but Captain Lee didn't see it that way and still reamed everyone which pissed them all off. So they went out to dinner and got out of control. Eddie, the cutest boy on the boat, was mortified by how embarrassing the crew was so he left them to their own insanity. Kat seems to really have a major problem. Not sure if it's the drinking or the pills or what but she's always a mess. She still wanted to switch rooms with Ben because she hates Adrienne, but when he finally agreed, Kat was pissed off because Adrienne closed the deal and not her. Pretty sure that Kat and Ben hooked up, but neither one of them's talking. At the end of the episode, Kat disobeyed Captain Lee and left the boat even though he cancelled shore leave for the night. Captain Lee is really tough for a guy who gets to sail a 20 million dollar yacht all over the Caribbean. I wonder if he has a family? A wife or some kids maybe?  Okay I need to ask...I know a lot of my readers are friends from my old agency life.  Anyone know a guy named Alan Clack? If you do, don't you think that CJ is his doppelganger?  I checked and they aren't related, but damn they look exactly alike? Anyone out there know who I'm talking about? Anyone? Anyone? Beuler? 

Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls
OMG enough with Louis's Bow. She's In the middle of nowhere, surviving the elements, eating disgusting bugs and worms and this chick is wearing a huge purple bow on an odd part of her head. It's just so bizarre. Also bizarre, the P&G reward box that had shampoo, conditioner and a computer for Jim and Austin to check in at home with. Funny, I didn't know P&G sold computers. That was weird.  Not exactly an organic integration at all, but I'm sure that Jim and Austin could care less who gave them the computer.  Carl and Royce were sent packing and quite frankly that was a shock, but at least they got a bunch of BG wear to take home with them. Hats, shirts, jackets, pants, backpacks and socks. What more could anyone want? Maybe a sandwich? 

Newsroom
Baba Booey! Mother*fers...I understood that part of Sunday night's Newsroom. I also understood that Will's Dad passed away and he waited too long to call him and he's going to freak out about it at some point. I understood that Maggie totally screwed up the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin 911 call because she's still messed up from Africa.  I understood that Sloan posed for some sexy pics, her ex-boyfriend posted them, Don talked her off the ledge, she went to his office kicked him in the b*lls, and punched him in the face right in front of his co-workers. Awesome! I sort of got the Charlie thing with the guy who confirmed Genoa...sort of. I think the Twitter thing and the kid who wanted to come out on News Night were sort of throw aways but since nothing Aaron Sorkin ever writes is a throw away, I'm guessing there was more to it. Again, I feel like I need to watch Newsroom one more time to really let it all marinate and to be able to appreciate how good it all is, but I can't this week, so I'm just going with it. Also, note to the hairstylist on the show, can you please do something with MacKenzie's hair? She always looks like it could use a brushing or some product or something. If she's wearing $1200 shoes, I'd think she'd be rocking a better hairstyle. 

Real Housewives of NJ
A drama free episode of Real Housewives of NJ? Yes! Believe it! I saw it with my own two eyes. It was nice to see everyone together, eating, zumba-ing, laughing, fake kissing, etc. It was also really nice to see Ashlee, Jaqueline's daughter who's been out in LA for a couple seasons. She seems to have gotten her sh*t together and looked beautiful. She was sporting a great big bun and dark red lipstick and actually worrying about her Mommy for a change. I think we should all be a little bit worried about Jaqueline. This week, she flew to LA to get a bunch of cosmetic surgery done. Tummy Tuck, neck lift and I'm betting some other stuff too.  I personally didn't think she needed anything, but I support anyone who wants to feel good about themselves and Jaqueline's in need of a bit of a pick me up with all she's going through. Didn't need to see the skin the doctor cut off her though, that was completely unnecessary. It even had the fat attached to it...ewwwww! I loved Joe Gorga and Gia spending time together, hated Joe Giudice talking Autism with Chris, and am awaiting Caroline's nervous breakdown at any minute. Did you see how upset she got at Greg's goodbye dinner? Is it all menopause oriented? Is that what I have to look forward to? To be honest, I forgot all about Greg and I really like him, but I didn't miss him when he wasn't on camera, so I guess I won't miss him while he's in San Francisco either. How funny was it that Teresa didn't know what a sociopath was and then the ultra awkward moment when she looked it up and read the definition.  Between her stupidity and her husband's inappropriateness, I actually do see how they are together. They're the perfect couple when you think about it.  Okay, lastly...Greg mentioned a "Cancer Hang". Have any of you ever heard of that before? I hadn't, and I admit, I did laugh. I know...not cool at all. 

Eat, Drink, Love
I SO wish you guys could hear me imitate the sound of some of the girls voices in Eat, Drink, Love.  Three of them have THE MOST ANNOYING sounding voices ever. They are also 30 year old adults that use the word "like" more than my 13 year old niece. I love restaurants and food and really thought I'd LOVE this show, but the annoying factor is tough to get over. Of course there's gossip, backstabbing, drama and all the stuff I normally love in a reality show, but I don't know if I can get past the annoying shrill of these women's voices. Let's face it, with the current Sunday slate as amazing as it already is, and the Fall TV season just around the corner, I'm really not looking for another show to add to my repertoire unless it's top notch and unfortunately this one isn't.  Sorry Bravo, they can't all be awesome.  

News & Information:

-Breaking Bad set all kinds of records Sunday night. I knew it would. 5.9 million people watched the premiere. This was the most viewers of any BB episode to date. It was also an increase of 102% versus last Summer's premiere.  There were 3.6 million A18-49 and 760,000 tweets with 11,799 tweets per minute at some points.  Pretty crazy stuff. Lots of people jumped on the BB bandwagon over the past year. Isn't binge viewing a beautiful thing?  Now for all of you looking for something new to binge view, Orange is the New Black is my reco.  

-As one of Uber's newest fans, I was excited to see them partnering up with Bravo and the guys from Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles.  Starting yesterday through tomorrow, to celebrate the shows 6th season premiere, Uber is tweeting out a notification for free rides.  Users must tweet with @Uber, @Bravotv and #MDLLA for the chance to claim a code.  Winners will get a unique promo code to claim their free ride. All fans that participate are automatically entered to win 100 free Uber rides and a trip for 2 to Los Angeles.  Since driving is one of the worst things about LA, I'd say that's a great prize.

-At some point, I had planned on binge viewing The Borgia's, but now that I know that the finale that never happened will be an e-book instead of an actual filmed finale, I'm out. For all you Borgia fans, if you even care at this point, the finale/e-book will be available this week. I'd love to know how many people actually download it. Let me know if you're one of them.

-I admit it, I blew off most of my blogging responsibilities last night to watch AROD take the field in Chicago. I honestly don't know if there are words to describe this odd phenomenon. I hate AROD...hate. I've never liked him, not since day 1. I've never said anything nice about him and I've hated this entire PED scandal all around. So why, why, did I not only feel the need to watch him last night, but I sort of felt bad for him and actually hoped he got on base. What is wrong with me? I've got issues. 

Newsroom

Prior to AROD taking the field, I did watch Sunday nights episode of Newsroom which was awesome. Totally understood it, LOVED that right at the beginning when Jim, Meryl Streep's daughter and the other guy were attempting to check into the hotel and there was only one room left and I thought to myself SO PREDICTABLE, Aaron Sorkin had Meryl Streep's daughter echo my sentiment. Aaron rules. Maggie's story from Uganda( and the background on why she cut her hair) was heartbreaking wasn't it? How awesome is Will? He roasted that Occupy Wall Street chick for the sport of it and what a great little twist that he went to see her after they didn't need her anymore. Keep it simple Sorkin and I'm good...most of us are good actually. Thanks. Great TV.

Below Deck

Unless you really love boats, I'm starting to question why anyone would want to work on a charter yacht.  So far this season, the crew of the Honor have complained about every single tip they've received. None of these charters are more than a few days and a good tip has been 900 bucks per person last night when the boat couldn't leave port due to weather, the crew bent over backwards to make their guests stay as special as possible, they even pulled off a wedding in under 24 hours. Poppa, the groom, a total one upper, when asked when he got engaged replied "On my visit to my 100th country". Okay well, that didn't answer the question and was quite the pompous response, but if you're so awesome, how in the world do you leave a 350 dollar tip to the crew? I hope Poppa watched, was mortified and mailed them a check. What a d*ck.   Dave's missing his fiance Trevor big time and started to question the boating life, Kat apparently dated a drug dealer and did provide the Captain with her prescription for anxiety meds as requested in the last episode.  I never thought of myself as cynical before, but since when are anxiety pills available in a long rectangular box and not in a standard little plastic bottle? I guess if Captain Lee approves, so should Captain Carruba.  Adrienne was even more of b*tch than normal, but Kat's got issues too and really didn't cut Adrienne a bit of slack, neither did anyone else, no wonder she finally had a meltdown. I'm amazed it hasn't happened sooner. 

Under the Dome
I watched Under the Dome early this morning. It's just getting crazy stressful in that thing and now. The Darby's are stealing fuel and anything else they can get their hands on. Junior is a nut job with a gun who found out they tried to rape Angie. Of course he killed one of them and Linda got the other. Joe and Nori found a baby dome in the middle of the woods. Joe's a mad genius with some crazy science skills huh? He was able to figure out that the dome must have a nucleus and find it all in 5 minutes under a pile of leaves in the woods. Inside the baby dome was a purple egg that looked like it was alive. When Nori touched it, she saw her Mom and knew something was wrong, so she ran home just in time to say goodbye to her.  She died after delivering Harriet's baby with the help of  Barbie and Julia. Speaking of Barbie, I think he might be the new Jack Bauer. He can do anything. Has Jack ever delivered a baby? Don't think so!  If all that wasn't enough, huge power shift in Chester's Mill.  Big Jim was the king, but now it's that maniac Ollie, the guy with the water who hired one big security goon to take Big Jim's propane. Now he's got it all. Big Jim's not going to go down easy, but things don't bode well for him by the looks of things in next weeks episode. This show is starting to give me the creeps. I would normally never watch this type of thing. Now I'm in way too deep.  I'm screwed.

-I'm not sure why Sunday nights have become the most competitive night of television over the past few seasons, but they have and it is stressing me out in general.  I was having a pretty easy run this Summer so far but...this coming Weekend is looking brutal. So I'd like to know what you guys are going to be watching to help me make my decision easier. Here are my choices if there is something missing, let me know:

Keep in mind that Saturday night you have Larry David's HBO movie, Clear History and the premiere of The White Queen on Starz. If all that wasn't enough, my kid is coming home from camp Saturday which means I sort of have to pay attention to him again.  

So...tell me what you're watching this weekend and let me plot out my strategy. 

-If Ryan Seacrest wasn't busy enough, NBC has given him the Million Second Quiz hosting gig in September. So lets count. Daily radio show in Los Angeles, produces the Kardashians and a whole bunch of other shows for E! Hosts American Idol and now this show too? Well, there's one thing he isn't...a slacker. How in the world does he do it all? I guess now that he's single he had some time on his hands. 

-A few months ago, YouTube started allowing everyone with 1000 subscribers to be able to stream their content live, but now, anyone with just 100 subscribers can live stream on YouTube. They are offering up some cool features too. You can link out to online stores or other sites. YouTube also has a studio in LA for content creators to use for production and will be opening another one here in NYC next October. Just the beginning of all this crazy content creation madness...just the beginning. I'm sure we are all going to be using YouTube to stream weddings, graduations, family reunions etc.  Assume there's a camera ALWAYS on you at this point. Scary right? 

-Magic City on Starz, a show I've never ever watched, was cancelled after 2 seasons yesterday. Anyone care?

-Unlike Magic City, Awkward was given good news from MTV yesterday, they are a "go" for season 4. Congrats guys. 

-With CBS being off the air in NY, LA and Dallas Time Warner Cable homes, I'm sure you're dying to know what the affect on the ratings have been since the plug was pulled.  Well.  Not much so far.  Saturday & Sunday's World Golf Bridgestone Invitational was up 150% in viewers and 300% in adults 25-54 vs. last year. Friday-Sunday's late local news numbers were up 9% in viewers and 13% in A25-54 compared to the same night last week. The primetime average in NY, LA and Dallas from Friday-Sunday was identical to the same night vs a week ago. Keep in mind that August is one of the lowest viewing months of the year for obvious reasons. Let's hope that things get resolved before NFL kickoff in a few weeks. though.  Whether ratings are affected or not, people are going to freak out without their football, but of course if you find yourself without NFL Football and you are a Verizon Wireless customer, you can download NFL Mobile and not miss much!  (Shameless plug...I know, I know)

-I did tried to watch Disney's Teen Beach Movie hoping it was 1/2 as good as High School Musical, but I thought it was terrible and turned it off after the first 10 minutes.  Apparently I was one of the only ones who did, 13.4 million viewers have checked out the movie since it premiered making it the 2nd biggest movie in cable TV history against  total viewers, kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. What was number 1 you ask? High School Musical of course!  

-I forgot to remind you all that Shark Week started Sunday night.  Not many people needed my reminder though, Megalodon,  broke 26 years of Shark Week viewership records Sunday. 4.8 million people tuned in and the show delivered a 2.6 RA25-54. Not only was my husband watching Shark programming in his man cave last night, but he kept running upstairs telling me how cool it was etc. What is about Sharks that everyone loves so much? It's a bizarre thing isn't it?

Beyond Spelling Manor
Did you guys watch Selling Spelling Manor? I did write about it at the time. It was on HGTV and basically documented the selling of Aaron and Candy Spellings 53,000 foot home in California. It was really an incredible mini series.  Well, Candy Spelling is ratings gold if you ask me.  The new mini series follows her as she purchased and renovated her condo called The Manor In The Sky. The condo includes a salt water swimming pool, rose garden, floating stair case and of course a gift wrapping room...all 42 stories up with views all the way out to the Pacific Ocean. Ya gotta see her in action. Insane wealth.

Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls
I completely understand that there are people out there who love to climb and hike and camp and who really love the outdoors. Even so, I don't know why anyone would submit themselves to the insanity that is Bear Grylls' Get Out Alive challenge. It's just completely brutal. Last night, the cast had to climb a 300 foot waterfall, then climb a massive mountain.  No special celebratory dinner, they ate spaniard shrubs, maggots and duck eggs that had fully formed chicks inside. Everyone was exhausted and ready for bed. Robin and Wilson were in charge of setting up the shelter, but all they did was throw sleeping bags down on the ground.  Not good enough. Not good enough at all, but it was Donna and her Mom, Camden, really just couldn't handle anything.  Everything was difficult for them and it was either them or Robin and Wilson who would be sent home.  Bear chose Camden and Donna which made sense. Next week I'm guessing that Robin and Wilson will go home and then...then it will become ultra competitive because the rest of the teams are pretty sharp.

Below Deck
Dear Bravo...I love Below Deck, but I need WAY more Eddie and Dave and WAY less Adrienne.  She's a jerk and not at all enjoyable to look at. Eddie and Dave and the rest of the crew/cast are much more enjoyable to look at and listen to. This weeks episode picked up where we left off last week. Simon and his disgusting friends were still on the boat and Kat was trashed. Adrienne forced Kat to go to Captain Lee and tell him that she was drinking but when she got there, she admitted that she takes medication for anxiety and that's what was making her act so strange.  I honestly wasn't sure I believed her or not, but I guess Captain Lee sees this kinda thing all the time. He told Kat to provide proof of her prescription.  She didn't wig out or anything so I guess she was telling the truth.  Sam claims to be a rocket scientist but again, she's on a yacht cleaning for a living and putting sentencess together like: "Simons a scumbag, Adrienne's a doosh and together they are a scummy doosh". Really? That's the best your rocket scientist classes taught you? After all was said and done, the crew members each received a $900 tip which was par for the course, but they all thought that it stunk because these people were Adrienne's friends.  Guess they thought that since they were friends, an average tip would be okay.  Nope guys...that's not how it works.  Not cool.  Also not cool was having your boss see you wasted and on the poll at a bar, but that's exactly what happened to Kat.  Talk about mortifying!  

News & Information:
-5pm came and went last night and CBS was still going strong on Time Warner systems in the area.  Talks were going well enough for yet another extension to 8pm then...it was 10pm and then...

-Burning Love, a show that originated online and got picked up by E! was just renewed  for 2 more seasons.  I don't watch the dating genre, so no Bachelor or Bachelorette or anything of that sort. This show is a spoof on that genre. Even though it's a spoof, I never had any interest, but I've always heard good things. Anyone watching?

-I'm guessing that since Under the Dome was just officially renewed, the inhabitants of Chester's Mill and the dome itself aren't getting out any time soon. I don't read Stephen King novels (when I do read) so I have no idea if the residents of Chester's Mill live or die in the book.  Apparently they live in the show, and Stephen King will be writing the script for next Summer's continuation of this nutty story. Not sure I'll be back next season, but I'm finishing what I started this Summer. 

-Whose Line is it Anyway was also renewed for a second season. It's working pretty well over on the CW. 

-Not sure if Dr. V. can solve all of the Giudice's current problems.  Yesterday they were all over the headlines as both Teresa and Joe Giudice were charged with 39 counts of fraud, tax evasion and more. I gotta see how they get out of this one. 

-We all thought that Andy Cohen landing Cher was the "get" of the Summer, maybe the year, but on 8/15 Oprah herself will be hanging out in the clubhouse. I'd love to see her drink from the shotski and play "Plead the Fifth" with Andy.  I'm guessing she's going to be talking all about the OWN network and how awesome Iyanla and Tyler Perry are, but I'll be watching no matter what. I can't wait. Great "get" Andy.

-This has NOTHING to do with TV, but I was looking at something that showed the times most people open their email and was surprised to learn the time that most emails are opened each day.  You'd probably think it would be in the morning right? Me too! Shocker...it isn't! 3-4pm is the number one hour for opening emails followed bye 10-11am and 11-12n.  Just thought you might find that interesting.

-Another interesting bunch of facts: It makes complete sense to me that 66% of kids 14-17 own smartphones and I definitely wasn't shocked that 56% of 10-13 year olds own them, but I was a bit surprised that 39% of 6-9 year olds do and 25% of 2-5 year olds do.  I'm assuming that the parents upgrade and give their devices to their kids, but still...25% of 2-5  year olds own Smartphones? REALLY?

-Last interesting tidbit...Time spent online for both social networking and video consumption on a desktop or laptop is down overall vs last year. Not by much, 4%. But Smartphone social networking and video consumption is up 148% vs. last year! Also up a ton...tablet usage for both social and video, by 157%.  Behavior changes fast doesn't it?
