HEY ARNOLD-Teen Nick
-Last night, I was pretty impressed with my family as, watching the Giants lose and
knock us out of our suicide pool and then the Jets lose and just make us feel cranky, we
decided to watch 60 MINUTES (which we never do) but Jeff Immelt, the head of GE
was on and then some story about Egypt (I admit it, I was on my IPAD for that one)
and then the sports agent Drew Rosenhaus, who was the base for Jerry Mcguire. When
that was over we all had different ideas of what we wanted to watch, so I headed to
my room with the intention to watch the REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NJ finale, but realized
I was a bit early for it and got suckered into Kim Kardashian's wedding...well I am
watching and watching waiting for this wedding and I keep saying there isn't enough
time left...when is this freaking wedding going to start?...guess what...it's TONIGHT! I
totally forgot this was a 2 day event...OY kill me...now I have to watch the rest
tonight. At one point my son comes in the room and starts watching this mess and
asks me what Kim Kardashian is famous for (no really he did!) so I tell him the truth...I
am just not sure. So we decide to Wikipedia her...and the first thing it says (swear to
you know who) is that she is famous for her sex tape with Ray J...which I don't tell my
son...I tell him she is a model and reality show star, hate lying to the kid, but I already
had to tell him what a Manage-a-trois was thanks to Katy Perry...so I am done for a
while.
-I did finally see my REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NJ finale, which seemed like things were
going to wrap up nicely...until the end when Theresa's new cookbook came out and she
slammed all of her castmates and said "it was a joke...because you know everyone
thinks I am like Lucille Ball"...WTF??? No we don't Theresa, we are all disgusted by
you, your husband and your undisciplined kids who sit on food in the supermarket...the
reunion looks insane...can't wait til next week on that one.
-My Yom Kippur fast was actually really tough this year, but it did allow me to catch up
on all the shows I didn't get to watch during the week...VAMPIRE DIARIES is such a
good show regardless of the super cute shirtless vampires and werewolves, the story is
really good, not FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS good, but good enough for me to say...check it
out if you haven't yet...It was boot camp week on X FACTOR, which I thought was
really good. I did cry numerous times and thank god Stacy Francis made it through or
the show would have surely had a suicide on its hands. (hers not mine). So we are now
down to the final 32 and we know which judge is working with which group. Paula
already looks like she is going to have a nervous breakdown, as she was given the
groups to deal with...I hate to say it, but I do enjoy PAN AM. The only thing I find
disturbing is actually Christina Ricci...she has such an enormous forehead and those big
BEETLEJUICE eyes, that it's hard for me to pay attention to what she is saying when
she is on the screen. She kind of creeps me out a little...This week's PARKS &
RECREATION was hilarious. The thing with PARKS & REC is, you really have to pay
attention appreciate how well written and funny it really is. (Like SPORTS NIGHT was)
Ron Swanson (played by Nick Offerman) is such a great character and again, Rob
Lowe's make-out hair apparently is intentional and still distracting and hilarious at the
same time. I hadn't seen any episodes of THE OFFICE this season. I Tivo it on the one
non HD TV in my house and always forget to check that Tivo...so while I was repenting
and cleansing my soul...I remembered to go check that Tivo which still had a season
pass for GOSSIP GIRL (which I gave up 2 seasons ago), and BROTHERS AND SISTERS
(which was cancelled). So...I hate to say it but the show seems exactly the same
without Steve Carell. I watched 3 episodes in under an hour and thought it didn't
matter that Michael Scott had left the building, the show is exactly the same.
- CEO Bob Iger will be keeping his Disney gig through June 2016. Iger's title will be
further upgraded in March when he also becomes Chairman following the retirement of
the present Chairman John E. Pepper. Disney has already started planning for Iger's
replacement, establishing the timeframe as March 31, 2015 when a new CEO will be
announced.
-Barry Sanders...not Jon Bon Jovi, will be taking Hank Williams Jr.s' (not really sure
how to type that correctly) place tonight on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL...he won't be
singing (thank goodness) but he will be in a video to kick the show off. That news
didn't really excite me the way it would have if JBJ was doing the opening, but figured
it was a story that required follow up.
-The American League Division Series (ALDS) delivered record-setting ratings and
viewership for Game 5 between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees with 9.7
million total viewers, making it the most watched LDS game in cable television history
and the most watched LDS game on television since 2005 (Game 5 Yankees/Angels).
Also, based on metered market ratings.
The game delivered strong audiences locally as well in their DMA’s:
• New York DMA averaged a 18.3 Household rating • Detroit DMA averaged a 27.6
Household rating
-FOX and the cast of the SIMPSONS have come to an agreement...the cast took a pay
cut and the show was renewed for 2 more years. If you haven't seen Harry Shearer's
open letter to the public discussing the situation, let me fill you in...FOX said they
weren't making enough money on the show (yeah right) and wanted the cast and crew
to take a pay cut, the cast was willing to take the pay cut but had been asking for a
piece of the show's profits for years. Again they were told no, but agreed to a deal.
Case closed for now.
-The not such bad news...HOW TO BE A GENTLEMEN was told to cease production after
9 episodes and moved to Saturday so basically...it's cancelled...the pretty good news...
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT will take its place on Thursdays. I have always enjoyed
RULES, and I am happy for their upgrade to a better night, but it puts even MORE
pressure on my Thursday night viewing now.
-Just a quick reminder of the INVITE a FRIEND contest...I am much closer to 200 after
week one...but still a ways to go...so come on...invite just one!
-Monday's Trivia Question: I liked the idea of theme weeks...so this week's theme
is...SEINFELD!
What was the name of the book that Jerry never returned to the library?
