-Seth Myers was Kelly’s co-host on LIVE WITH KELLY yesterday and while he is really great, really funny and seems to have a chemistry with Kelly, he just doesn’t have something…I don’t know what it is but maybe it is actually that “X” factor…I like Seth…but I wouldn’t want him there every day. Next up was the Oprah interview with NJ Governor Chris Christie. Honestly…I love the guy…I don’t know much about politics (How could I…I don’t watch any news or news related programming and obviously I have no time to read…and when I do…it’s books like TWILIGHT and THE HUNGER GAMES) and I know he is controversial etc. but Oprah asked him a lot of tough, honest questions and he was great about answering them all…His wife seems pretty cool and there was this awkward thing where all 4 kids are sitting around the kitchen table reading…but I am sure that was to prove to Oprah that his kids are literate etc. Oprah of course got Christie to cry when speaking about his Mom, but she also got two great quotes from the Governor that have resonated with me…the first one is…”It’s hard to hate up close”. While the Governor offered that one up to Obama with regard to John Boehner…it’s true for us all and a great strategy. The other quote came from the Governors Mom on the topic of relationships…he was applying it to ruling/governing but you can absolutely apply it to everything…if you have respect, love can come…if you have love without respect, love will go. Pretty profound.
-Next up was the brainless part of my night…HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER…another classic episode…Lily and Marshall supposedly, officially move out to Long Island and the group needs to deal with how that affects them all. So they go to a strip club where Doppelganger Lily and fake Marshall are going to be their new Russian scary best friends and of course lots of insanity follows…but the best part was when Marshall is trying to find the fuse box in his new home and we see his attempt via a Blair Witch type scenario…really funny, and of course it ends up where Marshall wants to move back to the city…let’s see what happens. My question was…I thought in real life, Alyson Hannigan was pregnant while filming, but when she Stripper Lily, you couldn’t see any sort of belly…so how did they do that?
-I definitely win the worst Mom award for letting my 10 year old watch 2 ½ MEN with us every week…it is JUST so inappropriate, but he watches it in syndication and he watches it with us, and my husband and I look at each other knowing we are doing something wrong and yet we don’t order him out of the room…what’s wrong with us? Anyway…this was the episode where Ashton’s current girlfriend finally tells him that she is a bit embarrassed about the way he looks with his “Jennifer Anniston” hair and Jesus beard…so finally at the end of the episode…it is all gone and he is super gorgeous again. Ahhhhh
-I have SO much to say about REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS that I just don’t even know where to begin.
· What kind of therapist also accompanies patients to parties?
· Why is it that the street in front of the SUR is completely empty with the exception of the one humongous stretch limo that brings only our Housewives to the party? And…why can’t they drive themselves to the party? And…is it the same limo that just leaves and gets each family or are they all different limo’s? Lots of limo questions.
· How in the world does Lisa not recognize or remember Adrienne’s chef…Bernie, especially when she had to have invited him to the party?
· How funny was it when Brandi told serial killer Ken that he looked like a Gay Bull Mastif? HE DOES!
· Cedric showing up at the party and kissing everyone and not understanding why he couldn’t stay had to purely be for the camera’s I mean how super awkward was that moment?
· I think Pandora is probably a stuck up B word in real life
· Kim…oh my goodness…I could just write about her…
· How does Kyle not see that her sister is completely medicated and out of her mind almost ALL the time
· If you packed to stay in a hotel for only one night…why so many pairs of shoes?
· Why did the hotel room look like a bomb exploded?
· Ken is still SO CREEPY
· Now in addition to air kisses, there are even fake air kisses…is that a new Housewife trend?
· How did Lisa not know that Paul’s ex was invited to the party and why in the world would Adrienne care after 10 years?
· How did Lisa not know that Brandi and her waitress BOTH slept with Eddie Ciprian (before Leann Rimes apparently)?
· It must be tough to throw a party in Beverly Hills…I would never do a sit down dinner, the table assignments alone would send me running for the Xanax
· Can’t wait for the finale/wedding next week
-I didn’t get to the season premiere of BEING HUMAN on Syfy (but I will) or THE LYING GAME yet…so I am a bit behind already this week…damn you Oprah Winfrey…that hour with the Governor totally threw off my plan. Oh…one more thing…I had already seen the first episode of ALCATRAZ…let me know if you guys watched and what you thought.
-Amazon’s Kindle Fire is doing well…really well actually…Early projections show sales are up 240% since its debut last year. In 2011, to date, 5.5 million were purchased with estimates of 18.4 million for 2012 and 23.1 million in 2013 making it the #2 tablet with the Ipad being number 1. We have both in our house and my son LOVES his Kindle Fire which has allowed me more time with my Ipad since he isn’t hogging it…only bummer is (and note to developers out there) the game Temple Run is only on the Ipad and that is my son’s current addiction…so sometimes I have to hand it over if I want quiet and sanity.
-Not really anything to do with TV, but I thought this chart that illustrates U.S. Married couples by age, over time was really interesting. Especially when you look at the younger demo’s. I mean we know people are getting married later, but WOW…45% of adults 18-24 were married in 1960 where now only 9%.
-Another good one…This chart is also pretty interesting (to me anyway) and illustrates how the different generations are using Social Media when it comes to TV. Obviously the younger generation (Millennials) use Social for everything…but check out the Baby Boomer numbers…surprisingly higher than I thought they would be, but glad to see it.
-Tuesday’s Trivia Question: On my way in, Howard Stern was talking about the show I DREAM OF JEANNIE and I got stuck for a second trying to remember Major Anthony Nelson’s best friend who was also in the space program…I got it now, so…what was his name on the show?
