-Wow…what a great Wildcard Weekend…well, actually…what a great Wildcard Sunday (I didn’t watch anything on Saturday). First…great day for Giants fans and pseudo Giants fans like me. The better game was the Pittsburgh/Denver game though. To be honest, I have no idea what the whole Tim Tebow controversy is all about…I don’t really pay attention to SPORTSCENTER even though it is on 24/7 in my house, but I know there is something about that guy that people seem to have an issue with. Anyway…who cares…he obviously is way better than my quarterback, he’s in the playoffs, and what an amazing win last night. Exciting stuff.
-ONCE UPON A TIME was back last night and Emma Swan ran for Sheriff since Graham was killed prior to the Christmas break… we learned about Rumpelstilskin…I realized when I was watching the show that I was confusing Rumpelstilskin and Rupunzel (the chick with the long hair that you could climb). Even when they were filling us in on the Rumpelstilskin back story, I wasn’t sure if I ever knew that one. I need to find a fairytale book and do some research…anyone remember the fairytale about him? What was the scoop?
-I didn’t watch the premiere of THE FIRM because as you know, I don’t watch anything legal or crime oriented (with the exception of HOMELAND but that was due to peer pressure), and for all you newer readers, I also don’t watch anything medical (nope, gave up GREY’S ANATOMY years ago) or anything dating oriented (so NO I don’t watch THE BACHELOR), nothing too scary and no animation. Hope that clears things up a bit.
-Showtime was back with SHAMELESS, and CALIFORNICATION last night, plus a new series called HOUSE OF LIES starring Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell. I liked HOUSE OF LIES, especially because it’s only a ½ hour and I love Don Cheadle. He plays a management consultant in this one who is one of the best bullsh*tters you have ever seen, and I am pretty sure that most of my readers have seen some good ones…I know I have. I wouldn’t say this is one of the best shows ever, but until my Sunday’s get booked up…I will definitely keep watching it. I haven’t seen all of SHAMELESS yet and I had never watched CALIFORNICATION mainly because I really don’t like David Duchovny.
-Some FOX NEWS: (not the republicany kind…sorry if I excited/or freaked some people out) ALLEN GREGORY is officially cancelled. I never watched it (you know, I don’t watch animation) but I feel bad for Jonah Hill as it was his show…but hey he did lose like 45 pounds so I guess that is what the universe would call…balance. There will NOT be a GLEE spinoff as we all originally thought. Ryan Murphy and FOX head Kevin Reilly, said that they have an idea that would keep some cast members on staff even after graduation day…I need to think about this one…
-I need to mention this…tonight on MTV is a new show called CAGED. I saw the pilot, and while it is really not my thing at all and I probably won’t give this show a SEASON PASS, there is something very interesting and compelling about it. Basically it is a reality show that takes place in a small town in Louisiana and focuses on a group of friends that have graduated from high school and are really struggling to make something of their lives…the primary area of focus being MMA fighting. Maybe because this is a world SO foreign to me, or maybe because I found myself rooting for people I wouldn’t normally root for, or I don’t even really know why, but I did get hooked on the pilot when I saw it. I would say, DVR it and when you have time to check out, let me know if you feel the same way.
-Okay, c’mon…admit it…you were not sure if Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughters name was Ivy Blue or Blue Ivy for a few hours Sunday morning and honestly…why in the world should we all care? BUT WE DID…or at least I know I did, but I was never confused, because I follow Gwyneth Paltrow (girl crush alert) on Twitter and I know that she and Jay-Z are BFF so when I got the word at 7AM from Gwyneth that the baby’s name was Blue Ivy…I believed I had it right and US Weekly was wrong.
-Maybe some people are realizing that their brains are going to mush…while the premiere of JERSEY SHORE did deliver 7.6 million viewers, the premiere was down 14% versus last year…now if we could get everyone to feel the same way about those Kardashians, all would be right with the world.
-Nielsen Facts for this lovely Monday morning:
