-Day 2 of no power for the Carruba’s wasn’t terrible in general, but from a TV standpoint it wasn’t the greatest either. While I could watch TV with my digital antenna (AMAZING PICTURE by the way…can’t believe the difference to be perfectly honest!) I was limited to the channels all of us over 40’s remember before there even was cable…yes there was a time when we only had 7 channels to choose from...To add to the misery, Halloween in our town was postponed, so I had a stir crazy 10 year old to deal with all day in addition to all of the other issues going on…so I only got to watch HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, the last 10 minutes of 2 ½ MEN, and Brian Williams new show ROCK CENTER.
-Katie Holmes reprised her role as the Slutty Pumpkin, aka, “ Naomi” on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and of course it didn’t work out with her and Ted, and of course she isn’t “the Mom” and of course all I see when I look at her is Joey. I don’t see her as Tom’s wife or Suri’s Mom, just Joey. 2 things drove me crazy last night during the show. The first was how Ted kept saying NYomi instead of Naomi, and the second was the woman who played Lily’s grandmother. I couldn’t figure out where I knew her from and then it finally dawned on me…she is Monica and Ross’s mother from FRIENDS…would have been a great trivia question if it was still FRIENDS week!
-The last 10 minutes of 2 ½ MEN were kinda disturbing in that Evelyn and Walden (Ashton Kutscher) were in bed together. Look, I am all for cougars etc. but honestly that may have made me throw up a tiny bit in my mouth. The only redeeming thing was, that again, Ashton was shirtless.
-I don’t usually watch too many news shows, but hey when there are only 7 channels to choose from, you watch what you watch and since this was a new show, I thought it was my job…Here is my review…I love Brian Williams, I always have, the set is really nice, the piece about the Williston North Dakota job boom was really interesting, I didn’t pay attention at all to the Syria thing, who knew about birth tourism? Not me… and Jon Stewart rules…I seriously WANT to watch THE DAILY SHOW every day, but I just can’t…it would cripple my abilities to have what remains of a life.
-This Kim Kardashian divorce makes me SICK. I don’t even watch any of the Kardashian’s shows, and this girl and her family are famous because of what again? So they stage a 10 million dollar wedding that even I tuned into (because who isn’t a sucker for a good wedding) and now they are done and Kris Humphries claims he is devastated and knew nothing? All of that is ridiculous, we know this. Here is the thing…right now with the economy being what it is, to go and just waste that kind of money is offensive…but…would the ratings be as high if she took that same 10 million and gave it away like on SECRET MILLIONAIRE? I don’t know, but I wish she tried that strategy instead.
-AMERICAN HORROR STORY has been renewed for a second season. While I am SO happy for the cast, especially Connie Britton, I will continue to not watch because it was just too creepy for me.
-FOX and Direct TV reached an agreement so all of you Direct TV people can relax and breathe easier now that you can watch GLEE and NEW GIRL tonight. Whewww that was close
-Tuesday’s Trivia Question- Katie Holmes starred opposite James Van Der Beek on DAWSON’S CREEK…everyone knows her first name was Joey…what was Joey’s last name?
