-The answer to Wednesday’s Trivia Question:Brian Dunkelman was Ryan Seacrest’s co-host on the first season of AMERICAN IDOL
FIRST FIVES Larry Goldberg, Tara Dowling, Kristen Albanese, Kerri Tocci & Alex Nagler
-I really didn’t do a lot of first run TV viewing over the long weekend, there obviously wasn’t much to watch. Last Wednesday night in between Turkey/Stuffing prep, I did make sure to catch MODERN FAMILY where I was thankful for the “Punkin Chunkin”, SUBURGATORY, where I was thankful Jay Mohr was home for Thanksgiving, REVENGE, where I had to be thankful Daniel played volleyball with no shirt on, and of course X FACTOR, where I have to admit, I was thankful that Lakoda Rain finally got the boot.
-I did watch and sort of enjoy in a weird way, A VERY GAGA THANKSGIVING. I guess anything Lady Gaga does is oddly interesting and this show was no exception. From the start, the concept was strange…she went back to her elementary school (The Convent of the Sacred Heart in Upper Manhattan) and the gymnasium was made into a dinner theatre sort of set. Gaga performed all of her biggest songs to the “patrons” who you never really see up close. In between songs, Gaga changed outfits, made glitter hand turkey’s with the students, had a cooking segment with Oprah’s “ex” chef, Art Smith, and did an interview with Katie Couric. Hey…there really wasn’t much on, I was really tired from cooking my first Thanksgiving dinner for my family…it did the job.
-I did remind all of you that one of the best concerts ever was rebroadcast (a few times it turned out) over the weekend. The ROCK N ROLL 25th ANNIVERSARY concert was just as great as when I watched it the first time. I hope you guys had a chance to check it out. There were so many great performances, but my favorite was Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel singing New York State of Mind. Can’t believe that Bruce and Billy are both 62 years old.
-The stress of my JETS win over Buffalo yesterday left me so exhausted that I just couldn’t go food shopping and I totally forgot about Angelina Jolie on 60 MINUTES, so I need to check it out online when I have a second…ONCE UPON A TIME was an original episode where we got the back story of Jiminy Cricket/Dr Hopper and we are even given some clues about an upcoming tie from Jiminy to Pinocchio’s dad, Gepetto.
-Since there wasn’t much original on air programming this weekend, I decided to do some “research” and sample some of the currently most viewed Web Series while I had some down time, which are all fun, but none of them, in my opinion, are appointment viewing. The ones I checked out were: Aim High, Seven Minutes in Heaven with Mike O’Brien, Can’t Get Arrested, Husbands, Web Therapy and Pretty the Series. The only one that I would recommend would be Can’t Get Arrested, which stars former FULL HOUSE cast mates, Dave Coulier, Jodie Sweetin, and Candace Cameron along with other former big stars that are trying to get work. The premise is really pretty clever, the episodes are short (4-7 minutes each) and they even poke fun at themselves and their old characters.
-An interesting set of APPLE facts that I read over the weekend:
· Apple’s is currently valued at 370 billion dollars
· The United States retail meat industry is SMALLER than Apple (149 billion)
· Combined 2010 software revenues for the 10 largest companies are SMALLER than Apple (235 billion)
· Global mobile phone revenues are SMALLER than Apple (172 billion)
· Federal taxes paid by corporations in 2010 are SMALLER than Apple (198 billion)
· The cost of the space program is SMALLER than Apple (364 billion)
· The global sports market is SMALLER than Apple (210 billion)
· The US Pharmaceutical market is SMALLER than Apple (289 billion)
-I sorta knew this would be the reality…the move to bring ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE online has officially been cancelled. I don’t think there are many soap viewers in the WWTM world, but I am sure a lot of soap fans out there will be bummed.
-While the soap fans are bumming, the basketball fans (myself included) heard some good news over the weekend, so hopefully the final votes are all positive and the Knicks will play the Celtics on Christmas Day…fingers crossed
-My poll question from Wednesday had some very interesting results
As a reminder, since it’s been a long weekend, the question, based on what happened on the show PARENTHOOD
If a co-worker kissed you at work and it meant nothing would you tell your significant other?
19 people responded
2 People were not sure if they would tell their significant other about being kissed at work or not
7 People said they would tell: 5 men and 2 women
10 People said they would NOT tell: 9 women and 1 man
Pretty interesting when you think about it…Men would come clean and women wouldn’t…
-Of the Black Friday news I could find so far:
· Retail sales on Black Friday were up 6.6% to 11.4 billion dollars
· This is the largest year over year gain since the 8.3% between 2006 & 2007
· Online sales were up 23.3% overall
· On Thanksgiving Day, online sales were up 39.3% from 2010
· Black Friday online sales were up 24.3% from 2010
· Mobile device purchases were up 200% from 3.2% to 9.8% in 2011
· Mobile shopping was led by Apple with the Iphone and Ipad ranking one and two and Android came in third
Let’s see how Cyber Monday goes, I know I have a few deals in my inbox for today that I am going to take advantage of.
-Monday’s Trivia Question: On FULL HOUSE, what was the name of Uncle Jesse’s band?
