-Wow, a crazy day in Football yesterday for our family…between the JETS win and the GIANTS nailbiting loss it was quite a loud, rollercoaster day of emotion for the Carruba family. We were so exhausted from watching our teams win and lose that we barely got through ONCE UPON A TIME. Alan Dale, who played Charles Widmore from LOST was featured in this episode, as Prince Charming’s Dad. ( I guess he the guy they call when they need a really mean Dad. Pretty sure he was a pretty mean Dad in the O.C. also. What we did learn, was the very interesting story of Prince Charming this week…basically…Prince Charming isn’t REALLY a prince. I don’t want to give it away for those of you who haven’t watched yet, but it was a really cool storyline.
I found it funny that CBS put out a press release to basically say that they are changing the title of the new Rob Schneider show from iRob! To just Rob. In the press release, they explain that for marketing reasons the change was necessary. Oh, and if that wasn’t big enough news for you…they may, or may, not continue to use the exclamation point. This is what executives sit and discuss all day? The use of an exclamation point? Wow…I have some work for them to do if they have this much time on their hands…
- Comcast announced several new commercial agreements it has signed with Verizon Wireless, which will see, among other things, Verizon purchase additional spectrum that is owned by SpectrumCo (a joint venture between Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks). Four years after signing, Comcast will re-sell Verizon Wireless' service through a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) agreement, which will enable the cable operator to purchase Verizon service at wholesale rates and then market its own, branded wireless offering bundled together with its existing telecommunications packages. As part of the agreement, Comcast will be able to sell Verizon products across its multiple packages and Verizon will offer Comcast products and services inside their stores. Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks have also entered into similar MVNO and co-marketing agreements with Verizon. In the announcement, Comcast also noted that both companies will work together on an innovation technology joint venture to develop new offerings that integrate wired and wireless services. All very interesting and actually not that complicated for me to understand…everyone wants to be able to sell the quadplay (as opposed to the triple play) and now they will be able to. (There is way more to it, but that’s really what you need to know)
-Lots of numbers to report these days with the end of Sweeps:
Top 3 Morning Shows:
· TODAY SHOW-NBC 5.6 million viewers
· GOOD MORNING AMERICA-ABC 4.9 million viewers
· EARLY SHOW-CBS 2.6 million viewers
Top 3 Late Night Shows
· NIGHTLINE-ABC 4.1 million viewers and a 1.2 rating against RA18-49
Here’s where it gets tricky…
· TONIGHT SHOW-NBC has the next highest number of viewers with 3.6 million BUT it does a 1.0 rating against RA18-49
· LETTERMAN-CBS has less total viewers than the TONIGHT SHOW with 3.4 million AND does BETTER with RA18-49 with a 1.1
I am sure both networks will put quite the spin on how they report that information.

-It’s confirmed that Madonna will be performing at the Superbowl this year. I happen to LOVE Madonna, so I am happy about this choice. I am sure if they have already warned her about any wardrobe malfunction issues she may have…back in the day, her costumes were pretty revealing, but now that the Material Girl is a 52 year old mother of 4 maybe she has retired those cone bras and gone for something a little simpler.
-Monday’s Trivia Question: Madonna appeared on the very first MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS ever in 1984…what song did she perform?
