THE SHOWS
Saturday
What's going on over there at Lifetime? First the VERY sexy and eye opening Whitney Houston movie and then, this weekend, a VERY sexy and crazy Rob Lowe movie called Beautiful and Twisted. I HAVE to watch anything Rob's in. Sure I see him everyday in those hilarious Direct TV ads, but when I saw him on Ellen talking about this Lifetime movie I set the DVR immediately. I've been loyal to Rob since The Outsiders in 1983. Beautiful and Twisted is the crazy but true story of Ben Novak, the heir to the Fountainbleau hotel fortune who was brutally murdered along with his Mom by his ex-stripper wife. Ben was obsessed with Batman memorabilia, into kinky stuff and cocaine, but still seemed like basically a good guy. The movie was super steamy and at first I thought it was a 50 Shades type deal but then Candice Bergen, Rob's mom was brutally beaten and then Rob was. Pretty juicy movie though. If you'd have bet me a month ago that I'd be watching Lifetime movies I would have lost big time, but something's going on over there and I'm enjoying it. I'm not a schmata wearing grandma with a bucket of Breyers Ice Cream either.

I can't remember who suggested I check out An Honorable Woman. Quite a few of you actually. I'd been fighting it for a while, because I'm not a huge Maggie Gyllenhal fan, but after she won the Golden Globe and the SÅG award, I figured I'd check it out. The show is an 8 part miniseries that originally aired in the UK and is now available on Netflix. I watched episode 1 over the weekend and I'm IN!  I almost wasn't though. The first 20 minutes were slow and confusing, but Maggie's British accent was yummy so I stuck with it. The guy from Outlander, Frank, was in it and the woman who used to be Jackie's best friend on Nurse Jackie is in it and the guy from The Crying Game is in it. It starts out a bit tough to follow and of course everyone has secrets we don't know yet but the first episode ended in a crazy cliffhanger and now I'm hooked.  Maggie plays a British Israeli businesswoman named Nessa Stein. Nessa is very involved in Middle East peace. In the first episode, her new business partner dies in what we think was a suicide then her best friend's son is kidnapped and she took off her pumps and ran really far in bare feet . She caught up to them but someone grabbed the kid and took off on a motorcycle. So now I have to see what happens.

Downton Abbey
I totally get it, but don't you want Lady Edith to just scream MARIGOLD IS MINEEEEEE. She's MINE and I'm taking her back. If Granny knows and Aunt Rosemund knows, do we really think the rest of the family will freak out? Robert married a JAP from America, Lady Cybil married a socialist mechanic and Granny's been with an old scary Russian. Come on let's give Lady Edith a break, let her have her kid and turn that frown upside down. Loved Charles Blake's plan. Have Mabel go back to Tony so he can hang with Lady Mary and eat all that pork. That was way too much food for those 3, especially Lady Mary, she never actually eats real food. Barrow's killing himself with his anti-homosexual drugs and Mr. Carson was pissed off that Mrs. Patmore bought a cottage instead of investing in the building company he told her to. Would Mr Carson passing on that WB Moss tip not be considered insider trading? Rose met a cute Jewish banker in the rain. All Mosley wanted was a job, now that he's gotten one, he hates it. Can't blame him though, polishing silver sucks. How can Cora be so stupid? Bricker is creepy, isn't he? I knew Robert was going to walk in on them. Glad he beat the crap out of him. I can't believe Lady Edith fell for the "we're just playing a game and knocked over a lamp" excuse her Mom gave her. If Mom and Dad are into those kinds of games, I'm sure they wouldn't mind your illegitimate
kid. Now, Robert's not speaking to Cora and everyone at the party noticed. This could get worse before it gets better.  The cops are still sniffing around and looking in to Mr. Green's death. Anna's going to have a nervous breakdown if they don't back off soon. Tom said goodbye to Miss Bunting. I'm glad to see her go. She annoyed the crap out of me.

Episodes
Two different morning afters, huh? Carol woke up in Helen Bash's bed and just like that, she's a lesbian. Matt woke up with Diane, his ex and just like that, he wants to get remarried. This episode was so great because there weren't actually any sexual words said and yet we knew exactly what Carol, Bev, Matt and Sean were all talking about. I still die laughing every time Carol and Bev go hiking and Carol walks with those hiking hands. While Carol may stay a lesbian for as long as Helen's her boss, Matt and Diane were already back to staying divorced by the end of the episode. Matt surprised Diane with her favorite crabs, not those kind…the kind from Baltimore, but when he walked into her shower to surprise her, it was he who got the big surprise. She was in there with her ex, Oliver doing what Helen Bash did to Carol. Oh well, guess he will still be paying alimony and child support which means now, he REALLY does have to sell his vineyard. Poooooor Matt LeBlanc. LOL

Superbowl
Not the outcome that I wanted. Not at all. I'm still not even sure I understood what went on for the last 90 seconds of the game, not sure why the call was made to pass when you have Marshawn Lynch but I had a fun time with my friends, and was blown away by Katy Perry's Half Time show. That cool floor, the dancing sharks, the fireworks the giant tiger, all those outfits and Katy sailing through the air. Pretty impressive and at our party, it was the only part that got all the girls around the TV.  Also, some great commercials. The Nissan Father & Son, the Budweiser Puppy, the Dance Like a Girl, the Dove Dads, the Brady Bunch Snickers, there were a lot of good ones. What was your favorite moment? Favorite Commercial? Weigh in on my informal WWTM pole.

Name some of the guest appearances for bonus points http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/segments/110761  Now that you've watched that one, check out this awesome lip sync battle: http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/segments/110781. OMG Will Farrell too funny, but Jimmy and his special guest star were hilarious.  The director was getting crazy moving the camera all over the place. The whole point of a lip sync battle is to SEE THE LIPS SYNCING! Either way…a great battle!
