THE SHOWS
Madam Secretary
After watching 9 episodes of House of Cards and 1 Madam Secretary, I really don't know why anyone would go into politics. It's pretty much non-stop, calculated, posturing, positioning, manipulating, dishonesty and insanity. It's amazing to me how anyone in Washington has time for their family or a haircut or a doctors appointment. Nobody ever sleeps and if they do, they're always awakened by an aide or a phone call. Elizabeth aka Bess has a ton going on. Sure she thought she was walking in to a normal Congressional Budget Hearing, but right in the middle of getting her micro loan program approved someone had photos of the guy who monitors those loans partying in Vegas with strippers. Of course they do! Not good. So Liz/Beth/Bess brought in yet another super smart former colleague of hers to help get the department back on track. This guy seemed okay except for his dog, and I'm a dog lover. While Mike B and the staff were working the micro loan thing, Elizabeth and senior leaders were working on a ground operation in Turkey that went bad which meant there was a mole on her team. Turns out that mole was another old CIA cronie, Juliette. There was some good news, Stevie's going back to college. Georgetown's looking good at this point. Liz did have one odd sleeve moment there, but other than that all good in sleeve world for the Secretary. I wonder if Timothy Daly's getting sick of always reading books in this show. Did you ever notice that in every scene, he's ALWAYS reading a book of some kind. I know he's a professor but still, he's ALWAYS reading, and never on a Kindle. Old school, real books only. When's the last time you had time to sit down and read a real book?
Downton Abbey Season Finale
I chose the season finale of Downton over everything else last night. I'll catch up on Secrets & Lies, Girls, Episodes and John Oliver when I get home later. I'm glad I chose Downton. It's such a good show. I wish there were more episodes. Did I miss George Clooney? I could have sworn I read we were going to see him this season. I thought he'd show up at the hunt. I did enjoy seeing Finn from The Good Wife hanging out with Lady Mary. I liked them together. Okay so here's where we netted out. Spoiler Alerts: Granny and the Prince are done and so are Mrs. Crawley and Lord Merton so now they can continue to hang out, have tea and tiny sandwiches and yenta it up with Sprat and Dinka. How hilarious was chicken soup gate? Sprat had it out for Dinka and really screwed her over when he threw out Daisy's soup. That was awesome. I'm a huge Sprat fan. F Dinka. I'm sure once Dr. Clarkson hears that Mrs. Crawley gave Lord Merton the boot he'll be back in the game. I didn't think anyone could be more miserable than Lady Edith, but then she became a secret Mom and started smiling so Lord Sinderby took the title and THEN he hosted a hunt and we met his butler, Stoles. That dude made Lord Sinderby seem giddy. Barrow and Mary hated Stoles and wanted to get him in hot water with his boss. Not sure how they knew that Lord Sinderby had a mistress and a kid, but they did and she showed up just in time for dinner. Lady Rose and the entire Grantham clan covered for Lord S. Now, they've got something on him and he'll have to chill for a while.  Robert finally told Edith he knew about Marigold. He never brought up how hideos the kid is cause he's a good guy. Did you catch when he said "lickety SPIT" instead of "lickety split?"  Anna got out of jail, Mr. Bates went in but then Mr. Mosley to the rescue! He and Baxter found someone to exonerate Mr. Bates and there he was just in time for Christmas so I'm hoping things are good for them. We did find out that Anna stabbed her Dad when she was little because he tried to molest her. Anna's really a Debbie Downer isn't she? Finally after all these years, Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes are going to tie the knot. Can you imagine Mr. Carson on his wedding night? I can't. Great season all around.
THE OTHER STUFF
-Unofficial poll…who watched any/all of House of Cards? I hoped for a snowy weekend, I got one snowy day and had a boatload of things to do Saturday, so I only got through episode 9. Still loving it. The Netflix rules are currently in affect. I won't say anything in the blog for a while. If you want to chat, just email me.

-A few renewals were announced over the weekend: MTV gave the greenlight for The Challenge and Are You the One (MTV) and ABC Family did the same for Baby Daddy.

-Kelly Osbourne left Fashion Police to "pursue other opportunities" what OTHER opportunities does Kelly Osbourne actually have to pursue? Is anyone beating down her door with ideas? Are there a lot of openings for a woman with no real experience and a lavender mohawk?

-Entertainment Weekly put together a list of 20 TV shows that "nailed it" with their VERY first scenes.  I've seen 15 of the 20 and I totally agree. My memory stinks, is there anything missing?  Here's the list:
30 Rock
The Americans
Arrested Development
Battlestar Galactica
Better Call Saul
Breaking Bad
Deadwood
Game of Thrones
Hannibal
House of Cards
Kingdom
Lost
Mad Men
The Returned (The French version)
Scandal
Sex and the City
Six Feet Under
The Walking Dead
The West Wing
The Wire
