THE SHOWS
The Island
My son left this morning on a 3 week baseball stadium teen tour. Last night he played in his final baseball game, chowed down on a pizza and had a grandmother to say goodbye to plus some final packing, so the only show we got to watch before lights out was, the finale episode of The Island. 9 guys survived and we were supposed to feel good that their lives were forever changed by their experience. Sure they starved and had to kill stuff to eat, including a gator in last nights finale, but the show overall missed the mark a bit. We never really got to know anyone, we never really got to care about anyone, like anyone or even hate anyone. They didn't have to compete for anything, they didn't have to do anything but survive. Sure it wasn't easy, but it also wasn't as compelling as I'd hoped. Sure there were some mini dramas like Jim the loner cop and Dakota the bird farmer, but net/net these guys didn't make us care about them which is the missing piece to the puzzle here. The audience needs to care.
THE OTHER STUFF
-We knew about Kalinda & Finn's departure from The Good Wife but now another regular, Alicia's daughter, Grace is taking some time off. Remember Jeffrey Dean Morgan from Grey's? He actually liked Katherine Heigl when I watched, but I think ultimately he died. Anyway, he's joining the cast and I could see him with Alicia if that's the direction the King's are thinking of going. Alicia needs someone. Finn wasn't it, Cary's not it, so maybe this dude will be THAT guy.
-I'm totally on a roll lately, another one of my current faves, UnREAL was renewed for a 2nd 16 episode season over on Lifetime. I don't write too much about UnREAL because I don't watch it in real time, but this show is DAMN good. If you haven't checked it out yet, and you've binged everything on my list, I'd suggest this one to check out. If you're a Bachelor/Bachelorette fan then UnREAL is must see TV for you.

Tuesday's Bonus CAN'T BUY ME LOVE trivia question. I was truly saddened to hear that Amanda Petersen of Can't Buy Me Love fame passed away of unknown causes yesterday. Can one die of sinusitis? Anyway, To pay tribute to her and the movie I watched a million times as a teenager. Name Amanda Petersen's character in the movie. Who was her fake boyfriend. What color was the outfit? How did Ronald earn all that money? What was he going to buy with it?
