-HUGE news…HUGE…Nielsen announced that it would be abandoning its trademark People Meters as data gathering devices for its television ratings measurements and would begin using Facebook Likes and Twitter Trends instead.  No idea how soon this will happen but I am Sooooooooooooooooooooo happy about this.  I have always had issues with Nielsen and it’s measurement system…to me this is a huge win for networks, programs, broadcasters and brands.  In my opinion…the sooner the better.

-Sunday night, no matter how many DVR’s you own, was a tough night…hard choices need to be made and even I didn’t get to watch everything I wanted to…Lucky for me I don’t watch THE KILLING or MOB WIVES, but I also didn’t get to see CELEBRITY APPRENTICE (3 hours…Donald…you are KILLING me!) or the ACMA’s…my choices were…

-ONCE UPON A TIME…I am glad I stayed loyal here or I would have missed a couple big reveals.  SPOILER ALERT: The first thing we found out is why Regina/The Queen hates Mary Margaret/Snow White so much…apparently over in fairytale land, Regina had found her true love in Daniel, a stable boy.  Unfortunately Regina’s mean magical Mom (played by Barbara Hershey) wouldn’t allow them to be together, so they were going to run away, but Snow caught them. Regina asked Snow to keep her secret from her MMM. But unfortunately, MMM tricked Snow into telling her the truth and then took Daniel’s heart and forced Regina to marry Snow’s Dad…Toby from the West Wing aka The King…the look alone when Regina found out that little Snow had betrayed her explained everything…and now we know.  Big, big, big news though…Katherine is alive???  Good news for Snow…maybe?  I am sure Mr. Gold has something to do with it, which means…all is not what it seems.

-Next was the season premiere of GAME OF THRONES.  I probably should have re-watched last season, as I had a little trouble remembering all of the various plots and subplots.  There are so many families vying for power and war is breaking out all over the place.  Joffery/Geoffrey whatever the evil kid king’s name is has some crazy malice in his gene pool…I guess that’s what happens when your parents are brother and sister though.  The Starks still have Joff/Geoff’s Dad and the Lannister’s want to trade the Stark girls for Jaime…one problem…they can’t seem to find Aria the youngest daughter who is traveling the country as a boy.  Bailish and the Queen went at it pretty well…that relationship could get interesting and of course we have Kalheesi and her dragons to contend with even though they are all starving to death and losing their horses from the schlep across the country.  Best part of the show is any scene with Peter Dinklage in it…he is brilliant and hilarious.  I have a major crush on him…even though Jon Snow is the hotty and I do love him too…PD is my guy.

-HBO is so good to me that they kept GAME OF THRONES to an hour which allowed me to read a little bit more of the last 50 Shades book before ICE LOVES COCO.  This week my son and my husband watched with me…not sure if that wins me any bad parent award or not, it seemed okay…but we have established that I am really not the greatest judge on this topic…anyway, Coco got a part on SVU where she has to kiss someone and all in all Ice handled it much better than I expected…classic though…we find out 5 minutes before the end of the show that the person Coco has to kiss isn’t a hot young dude, but a hot young girl instead!  They all handled it well and didn’t seem to miss a beat.  Also in this episode, Ice & Coco find a girlfriend for Spartacus their bulldog…hilarious how they filmed the dogs running together in slow motion on the beach and Ice just goes along with it all…I love that guy!

-Saturday night was the KIDS CHOICE AWARDS on Nickelodeon.  I know for us it was appointment TV.  My son voted a few times, but in total, according to host Will Smith, there were 220 MILLION votes… For me it was all about checking out my favorite new boy band…ONE DIRECTION.  If you haven’t heard of them, you will.  They are performing on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE this coming Saturday!  Anyway…the KIDS CHOICE AWARDS is all about the slime.  Every year, Nick comes up with more insane ways to shower people with slime and I am amazed at what good sports people are about it.  Halle Berry, Chris Colfer, Taylor Lautner and some WWE wrestlers all got slimed but nobody got slimed like Justin Bieber…OMG they just got pummeled the kid with slime at the end of the show. He looked surprised, but I would have to think that one needs to prepare in advance if they are going to be slimed.

-Direct TV subscribers in 19 US markets have lost access to certain programming after Tribune Broadcasting said it failed to reach a settlement with the satellite television provider in their contract negotiations.  The affected markets include NY, Chicago, New Orleans and Philadelphia.  Customers could lose programs like AMERICAN IDOL, GOSSIP GIRL and Major League Baseball depending on who owns local affiliates that carry the shows. So between the crazy rain we had yesterday and this news…so glad I don’t have Direct TV!

-With the NCAA Basketball Championship looming, thought you guys would like some interesting MARCH MADNESS stats:
·         Once March Madness starts, productivity for many workers comes to a halt…here’s how
·         During the tournament, minutes spent on work: 390  Minutes spent on games: 90

·         56% plan to dedicate at least one hour during the first two days

-Just when we had sort of forgotten about the Charlie Sheen/Chuck Lorre battle, another major battle is playing out in TV land between Chevy Chase and COMMUNITY creator Dan Harmon.  Chevy Chase has a history of being difficult and it seems he walked off the set during the taping of the shows finale due to his belief that the show and his character are just not funny enough for his taste.  Didn’t Chevy walk away from SNL after the first season?  Does he have a boatload of dough that none of us don’t know about? Doesn’t he sort of need to work?  Can’t he just suck it up at this point?  I don’t know Chevy…maybe some therapy?  It did work for Charlie…maybe you could get his number?

-When I first heard that Brad and Angelina were having a biological baby, I thought there couldn’t be a more beautiful combination to create a human…but I am now rethinking this since Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green are having a baby.  While B.A.G. isn’t has hot as Brad Pitt, he is nothing to sneeze at and Megan Fox is right up there with Angie…battle of the babies…new series!

-Tonight on THE VOICE, the live shows begin and for the first time, in addition to texting, online and calling in your votes, you will now be able to vote via FACEBOOK…all options allow you to vote a maximum of 10 times, plus you can also get  involved socially on the site…I know that I will be participating tonight…but as much as I am excited for this…I am even more excited that all of the judges will have finally changed their clothes!

-Not surprising that the younger demos are where newspapers are suffering the most…but the older ones are now dropping off too…now that the have their Ipads, they are sorta not missing the big bulky paper and the ink on the fingers…

For the record, I have 2 people helping me with questions…James Gabriele from MediaVest and Bobby Aguilera from Tribune…so thanks to them…here are your questions:
