-Last night this wacko guy kissed a cobra and spit out to cock roaches on AMERICA'S GOT TALENT but that was really the least of it. The competition in each category was tough. I would have liked to see more of the judges arguing over who to put through and who to keep, but the suspense in how they tell the contestants is just brutal. The emotion in their eyes, that freaking Coldplay song in the background, Nick is crying, I'm crying, oy vey... On Monday's show we had Andrew De Leon the Marilyn Manson looking opera singer who didn't make it through, but in last night's episode, we had Turf a street performer who we were all rooting for...finally good news for this guy...he's going to NYC! (Well the show is actually filmed in NJ so it's a bit misleading). I am ready for the live shows to begin. I love AGT!
-Patrick Duffy and Larry Hagman were on with my BFF Jimmy Fallon Tuesday night and told a very interesting story I had never heard before. Basically during the original season of DALLAS, the show was doing so well, the network asked for 2 extra episodes. The writers didn't have a clue what to do, so they just thought, well...we will shoot J.R. and figure out who did it and why during the hiatus. They had not originally planned to have him shot at all. Larry Hagman said that all Summer long people asked him who shot him and he spoke the truth..."Nobody has a clue who shot me". Great story.
- Syfy delivered its most watched second quarter in 4 years in total viewers and adults 18-34. They also delivered their highest rated 2Q in Adults 18-49 since 2009. Compared to 2Q ’11, Syfy rose 7% among Adults and 4% in total viewers, while continuing its year-long growth among younger viewers, soaring 18% in Adults 18-34 and 18% Syfy also saw its best June since 2008 among total viewers and Adults 18-34, while averaging the most Adults 18-49 since 2009. Yeah Syfy!
-After all the arguing and drama taking place behind the scenes on the set of COMMUNITY, Chevy Chase apparently will in fact be back for season 4. Shocking, but I guess since the showrunner is gone, Chevy can stay. This is most likely the last season of COMMUNITY anyway. Let's see how well it does on Friday nights.
. According to Nielsen, in the last 12 months, smartphone penetration has gone up 34%, tablet adoption is up 400%, adoption of game consoles has risen 1%, and connected TV is up 25% in the last six months. Nielsen plans to address this landscape change by expanding its Cross-Platform Ratings service deeper into tablets and mobile and double their panel size to 20,000. Doesn't it still blow your mind that the number is so low? We live and die by these numbers and they are such small numbers.
You guys know I love the Viggle App. For all of you Android users who have been patiently waiting...good news! Viggle is now available for Verizon Wireless customers with Android devices The app allows you to check into TV shows you're watching, play trivia games and puzzles, and interact with special branded media, all in order to earn points, which can be redeemed for prizes like movie tickets, gift cards, wireless accessories, and more. Viggle, which has already been available on iOS devices, has also launched a 1 million-point giveaway to coincide with its launch on the Verizon Wireless network. I have already won 2 $10 Itunes cards and 3 movie tickets just doing what I do...watching way too much!
-No official word on Ann Curry's new role over at THE TODAY SHOW or her replacement. Gotta give Ann credit for showing up every day and maintaining an amazing professional attitude throughout this entire situation. It's been a gorgeous week here in NYC, if it were me...I'd have headed to the beach for a few days and "negotiated" while sitting on my deck and having a cocktail...but that's just me.
-More new blood over on THE GOOD WIFE. First we heard about Kristen Chenoweth and now Nathan Lane is coming over to Lockhart/Gardner. Hakuna Mata Nathan!
-Mobile is still pretty small comparatively speaking, but grown substantially in a short amount of time.
