-Not sure if you can tell from the photo I took last night, but there was a serious shoe situation on LIVE WITH KELLY yesterday.  Kelly returned from her vacation in Telluride (sounded so cool, now I want to go to Telluride) and was joined by the extremely annoying Carrie Ann Inaba as co-host.  Luckily they had Kelly's real life BFF, Andy Cohen to talk about his book.  Andy was wearing a really old, worn out pair of shoes with no socks,  Kelly was wearing her regular 12 inch heels and Carrie Ann was wearing these crazy turquoise mega heels.  Do they match with what she's wearing?  I know I am SO not a fashionista, but turquoise shoes?  Best part of the show was when the girls made Andy play my favorite game from his show...PLEAD THE FIFTH...Andy did plead the fifth when asked who he liked more, Kelly or Mark...I love Andy...I need to have dinner with him...I honestly believe he is my gay brother from another mother.

-Only other thing I watched last night was AMERICA'S GOT TALENT...finally we have gotten to the Vegas portion of our program.  Now we are seeing the Howard Stern we really know and love.  The job at hand now is to cut down from 148 to 48 finalists, which is super tough and 3 contestants didn't even have to perform, they got sent right through, so now we are down to 45 spots!  The two best moments of the show...first...the guy that gets kick in the balls with everything under the sun...I don't know why...but I could just watch a whole show of this.  I am literally screaming at my TV.  I would pay money to see it too...sick right?  The other moment...when the Marilyn Manson kid above screwed up his opera audition and of course the show left us hanging with the outcome until tonight.

-Sunday's series premiere of THE NEWSROOM on HBO delivered 2.7 million viewers across two airings, with 2.1 million for the 10p premiere episode.  HBO has already renewed the show for another season.  Lets hope there is some momentum and the show does in fact have the potential we all keep talking about.  All of the responses I received yesterday were positive ones, so that is good sign.  (Note to HBO...I am going with the Sean Parker thing here...drop the THE and just call it NEWSROOM...it's better...remember, FACEBOOK was originally THE FACEBOOK until they dropped the THE...and looked what happened there!)

-The live airing of the DAYTIME EMMY's delivered 912,000 total viewers. This was the first time the awards shows had aired on a cable network and last year the event was watched by 5.5 million viewers on CBS.   Despite the much lower number of viewers, the show gave HLN its most-watched regularly scheduled non-news broadcast in the network's history.  Nielsen also reports, 2.0 million viewers watched the five airings of the Daytime Emmys on HLN.  So do we consider this all a win or not?  I still say no...bottom line is that the audience was down in totality by nearly 60%...not good

-May 2012 serves as the first month Nielsen is publicly reporting its measurement of video streams on YouTube Partner/original channels. According to the data, the top five YouTube Partner channels are as follows:

  • VEVO: 41.4 million unique US Viewers and a total of 694.907 million streams.
  • WMG: 22.9 million unique US viewers and a total of 172.985 million streams.
  • Machinima: 17.6 million unique US viewers; 429.962 million streams.
  • Fullscreen: 12.5 million unique US viewers; 79.761 million streams.
  • Maker: 9.7 million unique US viewers; 93.59 million streams.

All together, this amounts to nearly 1.5 billion total streams of premium content across those channels (Nielsen does not include user-generated content that may be available on any of these channels in its reports). More than half of each top channel's unique viewers were under the age of 35 in May 2012.  Okay, so I am not under the age of 35 (shocking right?) but I have only heard of VEVO...the other 4...no idea.  Tom McKenna if you are reading this...help a girl out here.

Former E.R. star Maura Tierney is joining THE GOOD WIFE.  Tierney will play a self-made millionaire and power player in Chicago Democratic politics.  Also joining the series is British actor Marc Warren (Band of Brothers) portraying Kalinda's (Archie Panjabi) ex-husband.  Tierney and Warren will both make their debuts on the series during the fourth season opener in September. Pretty sure I told you that I have secretly been watching THE GOOD WIFE and I am almost all caught up...did I miss that Kalinda was married???

-Right now, even before the Sunday night premiere, SHOWTIME is offering viewers the chance to watch WEEDS and EPISODES over on Facebook, Showtime.com and YouTube...now that is awesome considering all I have been doing is complaining that nothing is on TV...I gotta remember to check both out...maybe tonight!

- ARMY WIVES over on Lifetime was back with all new episodes and  averaged 3.3 million Viewers, a 10% increase versus its current season average. The show also averaged 1.2 million Adults 18-49 viewers, which is flat to date.  I've never watched this one...anyone out there have an opinion?

-Tuesday's Trivia Question:  I forgot that it was Gay Pride Day here in NY on Sunday.  So in honor of Gay Pride Day...what was the first PRIMETIME BROADCAST DRAMA to include two men kissing?
