I had Back to School night last night and didn't get home until 9, so I had to stay up a little past my bedtime to catch up on some key Wednesday night shows.

How crazy was the Power of Veto competition on Big Brother last night?  Loved it.  Not sure how I feel about Shane winning but I loved the entire thing. Hilarious that Ian couldn't keep track of time and was eliminated from the competition.  The visit with the Olympic team was...AWKWARD on all ends...AWKWARD. Danielle is SO stupid.  Shane is SO playing her...or at least I think he is.  I can't imagine that Shane would give Danielle the time of day outside the house.  How ironic was it when Jen City left the house and said keep it fun and keep it classy? Classy from the chick above with her tongue out?  I had forgotten that she had been on slop for a month.  So nice of Julie Chen to have a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich for her when she got evicted.  I bet that Julie Chen has never eaten or made a PB&J sandwich in her life.  We know she's never ordered or eaten Fajitas before...she couldn't even pronounce Fajitas.  Danielle of all people wins HOH...HOLY HOLY HOLY COW.

Finally after all the buzz, the X Factor with Demi and Britney, Simon and LA was back.  LA looked like there was some sort of battery on the side of his head didn't he?  I really don't mean to be mean here, but to me, Britney just looks trashy and cheap.  Her hair, her makeup and her clothes all looked like she got them at a garage sale or something.  I think, when you have Simon and LA as the bookends on the judging panel,  you could put anyone in the middle of the two of them and it's going to be okay.  Britney and Demi were fine.  Nothing bad, nothing great...fine.  I really liked Emblem 3 and Paige Thompson but crazy tears across the board for Jillian Jenson who was bullied in school and is now moving to the next round of the X Factor...kick some ass Jillian and show those bullies whose on top now!  Pretty emotional stuff.  Even Simon lost it.

I couldn't cheat on The Voice with the X Factor, so as soon as X was over I tuned in to night number 3 of The Voice.  Watching the two shows right in a row just further magnified their differences to me. Of course the button and the chairs are obvious but the judges chemistry on The Voice is the shows strength. In this episode, there were more sad contestant backstories and some great performances, my favorite was the last one of the night...Nicole Nelson. To be honest, I actually collect different versions of the song "Halleluyah" so if someone sings it and I get chills...I'm done.  With Nicole Nelson...I got chills.

I did watch the new episode of Go On with Matthew Perry.  I don't know.  I didn't laugh, I didn't hate it, I didn't feel anything.  It's just okay.  I probably won't watch another episode of it.
The recipients of this years Kennedy Center Honors were announced yesterday.  Pretty interesting bunch actually.  Led Zeppelin, David Letterman, Dustin Hoffman, Buddy Guy and Natalia Makarova (She's a ballerina-I had to look it up).  The show will air on 12/26 on CBS.
For all of you guys that watch and love (okay, like) Cougartown, it's back on January 8th on TBS and if you didn't know it here's a very cute video that will keep it in your mind forever. (I can't get the song out of my head).  Enjoy

Another new bit of information to report about apps:

  • Free apps will account for 89% of total downloads in 2012
  • Worldwide mobile app store downloads are projected to surpass 45.6 BILLION by the end of the year.
  • Apple's App store should hit the 21 billion download mark by end of the year which would be an increase of 74% vs. 2011.
  • Another prediction...In-app purchases will drive 41% of the global mobile app store revenue in 2016
  • The number of app downloads featuring in-app purchase will increase form 5% of total downloads in 2011 to 30% in 2016.

More interesting stuff...

  • Americans spend nearly 35 hours a week watching videos across screens, and almost five additional hours using the internet on a computer, according to the latest Nielsen Cross Platform Report.
  • A significant chunk of the day is still devoted to live-TV viewing (4 hours and 38 minutes in Q1 2012),
  • DVR playback has grown from 12 minutes per day in Q1 2008 to 24 minutes per day in Q1 2012.
  • Americans in TV households on average spend 14 minutes a day on gaming consoles.
Oh, and if you didn't hear the news...Apple announced the Iphone 5 yesterday.  Pre-orders begin tomorrow and if you are one of those Apple lunatics and stand on an actual line I guess midnight 9/21 is game day for you.  From what I've read here are some of the "big" differences.
  •  bigger
  • lighter
  • faster
  • 4G
  • More cool Facebook stuff
  • Better camera
  • new plug that DOESN'T fit with ALL of your old ones...that sorta sucks
Just a reminder 10 days until the EMMY Awards...get your ballots in asap!  Let's see who really knows their TV!
