Just another ratings note...I feel compelled to comment with all of the new shows and premiere's this week...Head to head at 8pm, The Voice beat DWTS on Tuesday night as The Voice delivered a 4.0 and DWTS delivered a 2.0. This time though they both had just over 11 million viewers. What is just amazing to me is that beating them both was NCIS which did a 4.1 and had 20.1 million viewers! WOW...who says broadcast television is dead? 57 million A18-49 were watching broadcast TV on Tuesday night!
Lots of crying and whining on Survivor last night...Jeff Kent was still struggling with his knee injury on Survivor but hasn't really shared his injury with his tribe mates. It didn't seem to hold him back during the immunity challenge, so it's really not clear at all how serious his injury really is. I don't remember another season with such bad weather. I think it's rained every day since they've all been on the island. Jonathan was obsessed with finding the hidden immunity idol and didn't stop looking for it until he found it. It's important for anyone to find the idol but when you are super annoying like Jonathan is, it's pretty much a necessity. I feel really bad for Lisa/Blair Warner, she wasn't fitting in, isn't in an alliance and only one tribe member has a clue who she is. It's SO weird to see her so vulnerable. On the other tribe, Roxy had her own meltdown and then started her god stuff and said some sort of prayer in another language. I guess god isn't paying attention to Roxy's prayers since Russell's team lost their 3rd challenge and SPOILER ALERT: Roxy was voted off. Classic moment during tribal...Jeff asked the tribe what they really need and Angie says "Cookies would be nice" REALLY? Cookies? Not a tarp or a blanket? Cookies? Angie's the next to go...mark my words.
Modern Family picked up right where it left off last May, with Gloria just finding out she's pregnant, Mitch and Cam reeling from losing the baby and Hailey suffering a hangover from the prom. Mitch and Cam decide that one kid is enough for them...unfortunately for them and all of us, their one kid is Lily, the most annoying TV kid ever. Phil and Chaz Palminteri kidnap Jay to take him fishing which was pretty funny actually, but the loudest laugh in our family came from the "Elephant in the Room" and the "100 Pound Gorilla" performing "lude" acts on the roof of Cam and Mitch's car. Steve Levitan did a cool fast forward at the end of the episode so now we don't have to guess what Gloria will look like pregnant...if he did it right, Gloria will give birth during sweeps or and/or the Season Finale.
I really like Guys with Kids. Of course I need to watch it to support my FBB, Jimmy Fallon, but if it sucked, I'd bag it. It doesn't suck...it's really cute. I like everyone in it. It was making me nuts trying to figure out who Chris's girlfriend was in last nights episode and then I realized that it was Eva Amurri, Susan Sarandon's daughter. So here's a question for all of you. In GWK, Gary and his wife, Vanessa from the Cosby show, both forgot their anniversary, but Gary remembered first and tried to play it off like he actually did remember/ A) Have you ever forgotten your anniversary? B) If you were in the same boat, would you try to play it off or would you come clean? The show's cute. It's not going to win any Emmy's...but it's enjoyable.
There were a lot of great performances on the X Factor last night and a lot of not so great performances, but I was completely focused on Sophie Tweed-Simmons audition. So many questions. I can't believe that Gene and Shannon waited on line outside with Sophie and all of the other lunatics. Also, as a fan of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, I knew Sophie could sing, but didn't think she would ever want to actually go on a show like the X Factor. She was obviously very nervous and actually called Britney Spears "ma'am" which was funny to me. For someone in a music family you would think she'd know her music. She performed "To Make You Feel My Love" and referred to it as an Adele song, but it was actually originally written and performed by Bob Dylan. I thought Sophie did pretty well. LA didn't love her performance but the other 3 judges gave her a yes so she is off to boot camp. Good Luck Sophie!
OMG, my FBB Jimmy Fallon's Tuesday Night show was awesome. First, Jimmy had on Jerry Seinfeld which was hilarious and then he had on all of the his Guys With Kids cast, because, hey, the guys got a show to promote, but here's why Jimmy and I need to be best friends...he did a History of TV Theme songs thing with the guys and it was amazing...check it out...super bonus if you can name all of the shows they sang:
I totally forgot to watch last week's Comedian's in Cars Getting Coffee (Jerry on Jimmy's show reminded me) and it was by far the best one to date. Jerry had coffee with Carl Reiner and found out that Carl and Mel Brooks have dinner together every night and have for years, so Carl invites Jerry to dinner. It's fantastic, but I'm warning you, if watching old jewish men tell stories with their mouths filled with food is a problem for you...don't watch. I unfortunately have had tons of experience with this and wasn't bothered at all. Enjoy!
I know that I am not a news junkie, but I didn't realize so much video news content was being consumed online...
Google Play the Android storefront, topped 25 billion total downloads recently and to celebrate the company is offering discounts on featured apps and a bunch of different forms of content over the next few days.
