THE SHOWS

The Goldbergs Season Finale
Had to watch it last night since I was out on Tuesday night. Of course I enjoyed it, but I had a feeling that it wasn't supposed to be the finale. Something didn't feel finaleish to me. Anyway, there was Fantasy Island on TV, Tattoo in all his glory. (give me his famous phrase for bonus points) Then there was the Garfield phone my sister had in Barry's room. I love those little 80's throwbacks. We found out a lot about Murray. He was in the Army, he was in a plane crash, he waited tables with Lou Reed AND he set his high schools record for consecutive free throws. All of which his family and I would have never guessed. While he and Bev were out accepting an award, Barry was attempting to throw a rager. Unfortunately nobody showed so Erica hooked him up big time and called her friend who called two friends and so on and so on. Who needed Twitter? The party got out of control and turned in to a Bev Sweater fiesta, Lainee made out with Barry in front of his crush, Lexie Bloom and even Murray let him have his moment with a final song. Name the 80's anthem that ended the season. Thanks Adam Goldberg…great rookie year.

Glee Season Finale (THANK GOD)
Thank God Mercedes and Sam broke up. Thank God Blaine and Shirley came to an understanding, thank god this season is OVER. I was DONE. Good song selection this week. John Legend's "All of Me," Duran Duran's "Girls on Film," and Bastille's "Pompeii got me through it. Annoyed that it's Rachel going to Hollywood and not Blaine or Kurt. Would have been cool if it was Ryan Seacrest giving her the news but Glee's not cool anymore. Annoyed that Sam went back to Lima and annoyed that Brittany's back. So glad this show doesn't come back for a year. I'll need that much time to decide whether to watch or not.

Survivor
Say what you will about Survivor but 27 seasons and it's still awesome. Last night was CRAYZEEEEE. I wanted to scream when Tony won the pizza reward challenge but then I wanted to vomit when I had to watch him and Trish eat it all. I can't stand Kass and I can't stand Tony and honestly, I couldn't stand Trish. I couldn't have been happier when Spencer won immunity. Kass and Trish got into it and Woo woke up. Didn't you think that Trish's crazy neck veins would burst during their brawl? Ewww those things are nasty. So here's what I didn't get. Why didn't Tony give the regular Idol to Trish and keep the other Idol for himself? On her way out, Kass gave Trish the finger. Can't wait til the reunion! Hope Kass kicks the sh*t out of Trish. Jeff Probst, Mark Burnett thumbs UP!!!

Suburgatory Series Finale
For some reason I thought last week was the season finale but this week was and with the news that the show isn't being picked up next season, it became the series finale as well. Glad that Tessa and Ryan ended up ripping each others clothes off in the middle of the street but I really wanted Dallas and George together at the end, especially after that song he sang. They didn't.

Modern Family Season Finale Part 1 (Which means it's really NOT the Season Finale right?)
Did anyone laugh at all last night? I don't think I laughed once. Well, I sort of chuckled at the use of the word "jinkies" but other than that nada. I couldn't get past the idea that anyone in L.A. or anywhere else, would ever move their wedding up 4 hours. In L.A. with traffic on the 405 or the 101 you'd never make it on time. Plus what about all the hair and make-up appointments. I mean that would NEVER happen. Lily in the dry cleaners, Luke and Claire in the boat, Jay and Merle in the steam room and Andy and Hailey in the car ehhhhh. It was sorta funny when Phil pretended to be blind but nothing close to laughter came out of mouth. Part 2 next week not looking so good. Let's hope I'm wrong, let's hope the writers have a long Summer break and come back refreshed and back on the funny track.

Nashville Season Finale
Now that's a finale. That's how you do it! How cool is Rayna James? She screwed over the evil Jeff Fordham, saved Juliette, was proposed to in front of everyone and given a 7 carat diamond and THEN had Deacon say it and do it even better with a simple platinum band (I'm going with platinum).  Finally, Will came clean to Lila, but little does he know that there is a camera in the bathroom even though the deal was no camera's in the bedroom or the bathroom. Nice cameo by Jess Cagle…anyone know who he is? 10 bonus points if you do. Glad Avery and Juliette are sort of working things out and maybe, just maybe Scarlett will stay in Nashville. Come on that duet was too good for her to walk away from.

THE OTHER STUFF

I didn't go to the CBS Upfront because I was still recovering from the ABC Upfront if you know what I mean. I did stream most of it though and here are my thoughts:

  • Overall…I felt a little bit like CBS had eaten a piece of humble pie. Not as many #1 proclamations as past Upfronts not from Nancy and not from Les. Sort of refreshing.
  • As a Good Wife fan, it was fun to see Alicia, Cary and Diane say Cluster F*ck I love when celebs curse.
  • Alan Cummings Cabaret open was interesting. Quite a body. What's with the nipple references this upfront? First Jimmy Kimmel then Alan Cumming then David Letterman. Lets see if Jed talks nipples tomorrow.
  • So if NBC talked Olympics, CBS talked THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. In case you didn't know, CBS got it and everyone else didn't
  • David Letterman got a standing O, told us about his 2 day phone fight with Les and left us with a joke about a moth and a podiatrist.
  • Then it was time for Nina. She went with orange. Not a speck of white. On my computer her glasses made her look a little Mr. Magoo-ee hoping it was a streaming side affect.
  • Halle Berry was wearing some crazy pants and was there to get us psyched for Extant which launches in July. I don't know…it looks interesting. I might watch it.
  • YEAH BIG BROTHER!
  • 3 NCIS's, 2 CSI's and 2 out of 5 New Kids on the Block! Yep CBS got Joey McIntyre in a comedy called The McCarthy's
  • Dylan McDermott got another gig…this ones way too scary for me. It's called Stalker
  • Madam Secretary looked good. I love anything White House-ish and Tea Leoni stars in this one as the new Secretary of State. Of course guess when it's on…SUNDAY nights! At least it's on at 8pm and not at 9pm.
  • Out of respect and admiration for Vince Gilligan,  I will check out Battle Creek.
  • Scorpion reminds me of Numbers a little bit. Glad to see Katherine McPhee got some bangs and another show
  • Last season of 2 1/2 Men
  • Surprised that after ALL THAT PUBLICITY…no How I Met Your Dad, but Nina Tassler said the pilot just wasn't good and that Carter and Craig didn't want to re-pilot. Lets see if it ends up elsewhere.
  • No big finale this year. Guess you can't get The Who if you're not number 1 at something.

-FX's Legit and Chozen (the other Chozen, not the one on Crackle that you guys NEED to watch) have both been cancelled.

-Conan's locked into TBS through 2018. I guess there's zero pressure on him to deliver a number.

-Harry Connick's already agreed to another season of Idol. I would too. Less hours=Less work and I'm betting the pays still pretty decent.

Thursday's Trivia Question: Dylan McDermott was at CBS's Upfront last year for a different show than he was at this years upfront for. Name last years show.

THE SHOWS

This week's been tough in general for me. Lots going on keeping me from my normal viewing behavior. Sure partying with Don Rickles was forgivable, but last night was a meeting at school and that threw the schedule off yet again. My apologies to you all that I'm so far behind. I can't even believe I haven't seen The Goldbergs yet. My husband had to work late and it's one of the only shows we watch together so tonight's the night for that! Look…they can't all be winners, and next week is Upfront Week, so it could be another week before I'm truly back on track but stick with me…I'll get there again soon. I promise

Survivor
Do you like anyone who's left on the tribe? I honestly think I don't. I'd really like to see Spencer win, but Tony's a GOOD, albeit annoying, player. Kass is smart but last night she definitely pissed me and everyone else off with her delusional hearing problem. Who knew Woo was so talented and funny? Who knew Woo even had a personality? The community service thing was cute and a bit of a break for us all, but then it was back to the game and back to the annoyingness of Tony and Kass. I thought maybe there was hope, but he didn't even have to use his special Idol which means he has one week left and that's it. Which also means he's in the final 4. The question is will Spencer be there with him?

Modern Family
Something's off with this show and I can't put my finger on it. I just don't laugh out loud much anymore when I watch it. The storylines were good last night. The answering machine prank, the pickle/blood sausage/Stella belly thing and even the comic book/Wyatt Earp belt buckle thing was cute...in theory. I sort of liked it that Jay admitted to being confused and uncomfortable with Mitch and Cam's wedding. I sort of liked the entire episode but sort of may not be enough.  What  was there before that isn't there now? Something's missing right?

Suburgatory
Is anyone else finding Tessa's narration of the show becoming more and more like Carrie's from Sex and the City? Last night for a second…I thought it was Sarah Jessica Parker narrating. Weird right? I have to admit, I'm pretty surprised that the Lisa/Malik wedding actually happened. I thought for sure someone would come to their senses, when Dhalia stopped the wedding it was only to find her glasses, not to end the ceremony. Lisa and Malik are now married high school seniors. Interesting development. Does anyone remember how gross Lisa used to be on Weeds? I don't know who she hired, what workout routine she followed, or the hair stylist she found but she's really cute now. I loved her fantasy Khaleesi wedding idea. Who's more annoying Miles from Suburgatory or Lily from Modern Family? Did you happen to notice Jeremy Sisto's arms? I guess I'm always so obsessed with the hair on his head and his forehead that I never noticed the deluxe arm hair he seemed to be sporting last night. I still think of him as Elton from Clueless and still think he's hot, but I'd have to have him meet Elizabeth the waxer if he were my guy. Not enough Dallas in general for me, but when she and her boobs came out of the bushes at the wedding, George and I were both happy to see her. Hoping that kiss was more than just a wedding hook up, I need them back together.

THE OTHER STUFF

-I don't think any of us had any doubts that NBC would continue to be the exclusive home of the Olympics for the rest of time did we? It may not be forever, but the officially have them locked up through 2032, congrats NBC.

-HBO renewed Vice for 2 more seasons. I should probably watch that show more often than I do. It's really good, but it goes against my genre rules in general.

-FOX officially cancelled Dads, Enlisted and the Chris Meloni show, Surviving Jack. I don't know why this was even announced, pretty sure we all knew on our own, but with Upfront Week looming all sorts of cancellation news is coming out early.

-You know I love anything to do with binge viewing and this WE tv idea's pretty interesting. Fans will vote for their fave Law & Orders and then every Tuesday night starting 5/20 a chunk of fan fave eps will run to make binging even more enjoyable. Good idea actually.

-I guess, there are a lot of people out there just like me...1.2 million people tuned in to see Tori and Dean go through hell together. They watched Hattie puke on Liam's Ipad, they watched Tori hear those words she didn't want to hear and they were all guilty and ashamed just like me. Maybe...maybe not. Either way, a much bigger number than I ever expected.

THE SHOWS
Survivor
I hate when the guy playing the best game isn't likable. Tony's smart, cunning, and he's got a good shot, a VERY good shot at winning this game and yet…I HATE HIM. I don't like his cocky attitude, his spy shack and his ability to find all idols with and without clues. Spencer's smart and likable and I hope to God he figures out a way to outplay Tony but now with the super idol in his possession, they are going to have to vote Tony out twice!

Modern Family
Was it me? There wasn't one funny moment last night? The families traveled all that way to Australia and lost their funny? Oprah and Gayle did a better job in Australia than the Modern Family gang.  Maybe Australia paid them a boatload of dough to film an episode there. I don't know, but there was really nothing at all about last nights episode worth mentioning.

Suburgatory
Maybe it WAS me. Again...nothing amazing to report here. Tessa, Dhalia and Dallas's and their "Miss Chatswin" beauty pageant thing and George, Fred, Noah and Victor on a camping mancation just didn't do it. I think it might have been me.

THE OTHER STUFF

Amazon and HBO, pretty good deal if you ask me. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Amazon will stream a bunch of HBO shows, mini-series and original movies as part of its Amazon Prime subscription service. This deal is the first one where HBO has licensed its content to anyone else. You can't get any of it on Netflix, Hulu, Crackle etc.  So starting on 5/21, you'll be able to see The Sopranos, The Wire, Band of Brothers, Angels in America, True Blood and more,  all on Amazon Prime. That's BIG!

SNL announce the hosts and musical guests for its final 3 shows of the season:
5/3-Andrew Garfield and Coldplay (I hope Emma Stone shows up. Do you think Chris Martin would be up for a "conscious uncoupling" skit or two? Could be funny!!!)
5/10-Charlize Theron and The Black Keys don't excite me much. I don't think of Charlize as funny. Do you?
5/17-should be great. Andy Samberg! I'm not sure I know who St. Vincent is but they are the musical guests.

Meg Ryan's back. Well sort of. She's going to be the narrator of How I Met Your Dad on CBS this Fall. Here's a quick and easy 5 points...who was the narrator of How I Met Your Mother?

Thursday's Trivia Question: TV MashUp Day 4-Uncle Jesse and Frank Underwood

THE SHOWS
Survivor
I can't stand when people get angry at being outplayed. That's how everyone treated Kass when they got back from tribal. Morgan couldn't have been any more conceited and mean when describing her. What a b*tch. I hope she's happy when she sees herself on the show with her huge boobs bouncing all over the place. Apparently Outback Steakhouse opened a franchise on Survivor island and was giving away a free feast to the winners of the reward challenge. I wonder if I go to an Outback Steakhouse if there will be a secret clue in my napkin like the one Spencer got. So glad Woo knows his game and followed Spencer using his "Ninja Stealth Mode" and stole Spencer's clue. AWESOME game play. Each one of the alliances went on a mad tear to find the new immunity idol. After all the insanity, Spencer still found the idol RIGHT when as he was talking to Kass. Spencer didn't need to use it this week because he also won the immunity challenge. How crazy was it that Spencer started out furious with Kass for flipping but then went to her with a deal to re-flip and help him and his alliance?  Best quote of the night goes to Tony when describing the super lazy Morgan: "You can't tell if she's a pillow or a person." Hilarious and pretty accurate and it got her voted OUT! Yeah!

Flipping Out
Gramercy, the house Jeff and Gage were supposed to live in forever, was put on the market for 3.2 million bucks. It's a gorgeous house and Gage doesn't want to move and FINALLY he opened his mouth and told Jeff the truth. Gage is b*ll-less. He bugs me so much and I'm not alone, Zoila annihilates him on a regular basis and I love every minute of it. Jeff's clients, Jeanne and Tommy Shaw are leaving L.A. for Nashville and this week Jeff, Andrew and Jeanne were house hunting in Nashville together. Tommy is from the band Styx. Remember them? "Lights," "Best of Times," "Rockin the Paradise," ahhhh the 80's. We rarely see Tommy, but I'm guessing he's out there on tour as much as possible because Jeanne is out of her mind. If she talks to Tommy the way she talks to Jeff, I'm betting Tommy never comes home. Zoila's still wearing her B*tch bling, Andrew is still super inappropriate, and Jenny's still out on maternity leave. We need Jenny back asap. It's a human resources nightmare at Jeff Lewis Design.

The Americans
So I guess before Al Gore came up with the name "Internet" the Russians had already named it the "Arpanet." I think Internet's more catchy don't you? Must be…it stuck. 3 wigs this week and a lot of studying for the big lie detector test for Nina. She did well, and passed but  ended up naked in bed with Oleg the Russian dude not Beeman the FBI guy. I'm really not sure at all what the truth is at this point. Henry's sneaking into the neighbors house to play video games and Paige is sneaking out to go to a church youth group and Elizabeth and Phillip are sneaking out to kill people and steal secrets. Great family/bad wigs.

THE OTHER STUFF

-I'm actually pretty excited that Drake's hosting the ESPY's. He did a surprisingly awesome job hosting SNL. I'm betting he does a great job in this arena as well. ESPY's are on July 16th. Something to look forward to.

-I don't know what my record is for most episodes of a show watched in a row. Maybe the first season of 24? I think I watched like 12 one day and 12 the next. Not sure. I'm definitely a binger and I'm in to marathons but the FXX Simpsons event coming this Summer is nuts. The Simpsons is launching on the network with the longest continuous marathon EVER. 12 days, 552 episodes in a row. The marathon starts August 21st and will continue through Labor Day. Not a great way to spend the last days of Summer. I'll be on vacation in LBI, so that's not something I'll be doing, but I'm betting some crazy lunatic watches um all.

-I'm sure most of you don't know the name Charlotte Koh, but she WAS the head of original series development at Hulu. I'm sure she's a really nice person, but it wasn't much of a surprise to me when I read that she was "leaving her post" 2 days after Craig Erwich joined Hulu as head of content. Hulu's original content isn't that great. Definitely not as good as Amazon or Netflix. With SO many other competitors throwing their hats in the original content arena, you gotta be good. Hulu isn't. Maybe they will be now. Good Luck guys.

-I did work yesterday, I did, (ask my boss) but I also watched Rob Lowe on GMA, listened to Rob Lowe on Howard Stern (twice) watched Rob Lowe on Ellen and listened to 3 chapters of his new book "Love Life" and remember, I also watched him on Oprah the other day.  I'm not sick of him at all. I'm just obsessed. This happens to me from time to time. For any of you that want to see him in all his glory, check out Ellen's tribute: http://www.ellentv.com/videos/0-sq1ix4k2/

Sure Rob's awesome but that doesn't mean that I'm chucking Jimmy aside. It's two different types of obsessions really. Last night, the guy I want to share chips and salsa with, did a pretty cool duet with Stevie Nicks. Check it out: http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/segments/4176

Thursday's Trivia Question: Lindsay, Sam, Daniel, Neil, Ken, Nick, Bill & Kim. Name the show. (Hint: It was only on for one season)
