THE SHOWS

The Goldbergs Season Finale
Had to watch it last night since I was out on Tuesday night. Of course I enjoyed it, but I had a feeling that it wasn't supposed to be the finale. Something didn't feel finaleish to me. Anyway, there was Fantasy Island on TV, Tattoo in all his glory. (give me his famous phrase for bonus points) Then there was the Garfield phone my sister had in Barry's room. I love those little 80's throwbacks. We found out a lot about Murray. He was in the Army, he was in a plane crash, he waited tables with Lou Reed AND he set his high schools record for consecutive free throws. All of which his family and I would have never guessed. While he and Bev were out accepting an award, Barry was attempting to throw a rager. Unfortunately nobody showed so Erica hooked him up big time and called her friend who called two friends and so on and so on. Who needed Twitter? The party got out of control and turned in to a Bev Sweater fiesta, Lainee made out with Barry in front of his crush, Lexie Bloom and even Murray let him have his moment with a final song. Name the 80's anthem that ended the season. Thanks Adam Goldberg…great rookie year.

Glee Season Finale (THANK GOD)
Thank God Mercedes and Sam broke up. Thank God Blaine and Shirley came to an understanding, thank god this season is OVER. I was DONE. Good song selection this week. John Legend's "All of Me," Duran Duran's "Girls on Film," and Bastille's "Pompeii got me through it. Annoyed that it's Rachel going to Hollywood and not Blaine or Kurt. Would have been cool if it was Ryan Seacrest giving her the news but Glee's not cool anymore. Annoyed that Sam went back to Lima and annoyed that Brittany's back. So glad this show doesn't come back for a year. I'll need that much time to decide whether to watch or not.

Survivor
Say what you will about Survivor but 27 seasons and it's still awesome. Last night was CRAYZEEEEE. I wanted to scream when Tony won the pizza reward challenge but then I wanted to vomit when I had to watch him and Trish eat it all. I can't stand Kass and I can't stand Tony and honestly, I couldn't stand Trish. I couldn't have been happier when Spencer won immunity. Kass and Trish got into it and Woo woke up. Didn't you think that Trish's crazy neck veins would burst during their brawl? Ewww those things are nasty. So here's what I didn't get. Why didn't Tony give the regular Idol to Trish and keep the other Idol for himself? On her way out, Kass gave Trish the finger. Can't wait til the reunion! Hope Kass kicks the sh*t out of Trish. Jeff Probst, Mark Burnett thumbs UP!!!

Suburgatory Series Finale
For some reason I thought last week was the season finale but this week was and with the news that the show isn't being picked up next season, it became the series finale as well. Glad that Tessa and Ryan ended up ripping each others clothes off in the middle of the street but I really wanted Dallas and George together at the end, especially after that song he sang. They didn't.

Modern Family Season Finale Part 1 (Which means it's really NOT the Season Finale right?)
Did anyone laugh at all last night? I don't think I laughed once. Well, I sort of chuckled at the use of the word "jinkies" but other than that nada. I couldn't get past the idea that anyone in L.A. or anywhere else, would ever move their wedding up 4 hours. In L.A. with traffic on the 405 or the 101 you'd never make it on time. Plus what about all the hair and make-up appointments. I mean that would NEVER happen. Lily in the dry cleaners, Luke and Claire in the boat, Jay and Merle in the steam room and Andy and Hailey in the car ehhhhh. It was sorta funny when Phil pretended to be blind but nothing close to laughter came out of mouth. Part 2 next week not looking so good. Let's hope I'm wrong, let's hope the writers have a long Summer break and come back refreshed and back on the funny track.

Nashville Season Finale
Now that's a finale. That's how you do it! How cool is Rayna James? She screwed over the evil Jeff Fordham, saved Juliette, was proposed to in front of everyone and given a 7 carat diamond and THEN had Deacon say it and do it even better with a simple platinum band (I'm going with platinum).  Finally, Will came clean to Lila, but little does he know that there is a camera in the bathroom even though the deal was no camera's in the bedroom or the bathroom. Nice cameo by Jess Cagle…anyone know who he is? 10 bonus points if you do. Glad Avery and Juliette are sort of working things out and maybe, just maybe Scarlett will stay in Nashville. Come on that duet was too good for her to walk away from.

THE OTHER STUFF

I didn't go to the CBS Upfront because I was still recovering from the ABC Upfront if you know what I mean. I did stream most of it though and here are my thoughts:

  • Overall…I felt a little bit like CBS had eaten a piece of humble pie. Not as many #1 proclamations as past Upfronts not from Nancy and not from Les. Sort of refreshing.
  • As a Good Wife fan, it was fun to see Alicia, Cary and Diane say Cluster F*ck I love when celebs curse.
  • Alan Cummings Cabaret open was interesting. Quite a body. What's with the nipple references this upfront? First Jimmy Kimmel then Alan Cumming then David Letterman. Lets see if Jed talks nipples tomorrow.
  • So if NBC talked Olympics, CBS talked THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. In case you didn't know, CBS got it and everyone else didn't
  • David Letterman got a standing O, told us about his 2 day phone fight with Les and left us with a joke about a moth and a podiatrist.
  • Then it was time for Nina. She went with orange. Not a speck of white. On my computer her glasses made her look a little Mr. Magoo-ee hoping it was a streaming side affect.
  • Halle Berry was wearing some crazy pants and was there to get us psyched for Extant which launches in July. I don't know…it looks interesting. I might watch it.
  • YEAH BIG BROTHER!
  • 3 NCIS's, 2 CSI's and 2 out of 5 New Kids on the Block! Yep CBS got Joey McIntyre in a comedy called The McCarthy's
  • Dylan McDermott got another gig…this ones way too scary for me. It's called Stalker
  • Madam Secretary looked good. I love anything White House-ish and Tea Leoni stars in this one as the new Secretary of State. Of course guess when it's on…SUNDAY nights! At least it's on at 8pm and not at 9pm.
  • Out of respect and admiration for Vince Gilligan,  I will check out Battle Creek.
  • Scorpion reminds me of Numbers a little bit. Glad to see Katherine McPhee got some bangs and another show
  • Last season of 2 1/2 Men
  • Surprised that after ALL THAT PUBLICITY…no How I Met Your Dad, but Nina Tassler said the pilot just wasn't good and that Carter and Craig didn't want to re-pilot. Lets see if it ends up elsewhere.
  • No big finale this year. Guess you can't get The Who if you're not number 1 at something.

-FX's Legit and Chozen (the other Chozen, not the one on Crackle that you guys NEED to watch) have both been cancelled.

-Conan's locked into TBS through 2018. I guess there's zero pressure on him to deliver a number.

-Harry Connick's already agreed to another season of Idol. I would too. Less hours=Less work and I'm betting the pays still pretty decent.

Thursday's Trivia Question: Dylan McDermott was at CBS's Upfront last year for a different show than he was at this years upfront for. Name last years show.
