Big Brother
  • Last night was the 500th episode of Big Brother and I've seen EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!  Amazing and pathetic at the same time. That's 30,000 minutes I've wasted watching this show, but...I've loved every minute!  Thanks CBS!
  • I forgot last night was a double eviction night...bonus!
  • Did Amanda need to go into a remedial Big Brother game or something? Was she just playing everyone? Her lack of understanding as to why GinaMarie put her and McCrae up was absolutely ridiculous. I'm running out of adjectives to describe this situation already.
  • I thought  I was watching bizarro Big Brother when Elissa changed her mind completely and decided to keep Amanda in the game? WTF is wrong with that nutty chick? How in the world did she expect to win?
  • So proud of GinaMarie for sticking with the plan and The Exterminators and kicking Amanda's ass out of the house to break the tie in the first eviction.
  • Loved that Amanda got some boos when she left the house and entered the studio to meet Julie
  • Andy's b*lless face when Amanda screamed at him upon exiting was ridiculous. He finally got some, stuck to the plan and made a big move, it's the first thing he's done to really help his game, he should've owned it proudly, but instead it looked like he was terrified that Amanda was going to beat him up at the finale.
  • I can't believe that Elissa gave Amanda her wedding ring as collateral. These people are insane.
  • Hilarious that Amanda claimed she wasn't a bully in the house. Wait til she watches the shows and sees her bullying in action.  Maybe she needs to know what a bully looks like. Well, she'll see one pretty quickly. I love it when she said we don't really know what goes on in that house. WE DO! It's broadcast live on the internet 24/7! We know you're an insane b*tch!
  • McCrae's moving to Florida and in with his "Sugar Momma" Amanda...WOW...lets see what happens outside the BB house.
  • Okay, whew, finally I was proud of Andy for coming clean with Amanda on his eviction video to Amanda. I guess he can have some b*lls when he knows he's out of arms reach.
  • Of course McCrae won HOH and nominated GinaMarie and Elissa. He still thinks Andy is part of his alliance. So, Elissa's big move completely backfired on her, because Andy actually did do something smart. He framed Elissa during the votes!  Okay Andy...good move for once.
  • Did you notice that Julie seemed to lose her announcing skills during the maze veto challenge. It seemed to long and quiet didn't it?
  • I was happy that Judd won POV and left the nominations the same.  Made sense and GinaMarie told him what to do.
  • So funny when Spencer got to vote for an eviction for the first time in a really looooong time
  • How shiny was Elissa when she was hanging with Julie during her eviction interview? She's not going to be happy when she watches that back.
  • It's getting down to the wire people and at this point I'm hoping Judd wins. Not because he played a great game but because he's the least annoying of the bunch.
Hot in Cleveland
I forgot to remind everyone about the Mary Tyler Moore show reunion that occurred during the Hot in Cleveland 2 part finale the other night.  I don't regularly watch Hot in Cleveland, but I was a huge MTM fan back in the day, so I had to TiVo this one. The premise was that Betty White wanted to reunite her old bowling team, the Gorgeous Ladies of Bowling aka GLOB. Team members included, Georgia Engel, who speaks and looks EXACTLY the same as she did on MTM, Cloris Leachman who looked pretty damn good for 87, a pretty healthy looking Valerie Harper and a not so healthy looking Mary Tyler Moore. Wow she looked really weird didn't she? Not sure how many of you guys saw the episode, so check out this clip. There were lots of inside jokes that only Mary Tyler Moore fans might get which I loved and it was fun to see them all together again, but once I got a glimpse of the super strange looking Mary, I was in a hypnotic trance. Check out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/05/hot-in-cleveland-reunites-mary-tyler-moore-show-video_n_3870809.html

Modern Dads
I've heard from of a few of you who watched Modern Dads since I checked out the premiere last week. I'm still liking it and by the looks of the ratings, so is the general public.  Of course having Duck Dynasty as your lead in definitely helps the situation. In this weeks episode, The guys were trying to help Rick lose weight. Apparently he used to run marathons until the twins were born. He showed a photo of his former self and the guy has doubled in size. So Stone and Nate made a secret side bet that Stone could help Rick lose 3 lbs in 3 days by juicing! (Does that work? If so...I'm in for 9 days) When Rick went into his garage to find the juicer we saw that he not only has a weight issue, but he could have a hoarding problem too! His garage was filled with stuff . Gotta give Rick credit though, in that mess, he was able to find a juicer that he claims he got as a wedding gift. I'm guessing it was a new sponsor or A&E gift. Of course when you have a wife who brings home 3 pizzas for dinner while your juicing, the odds are against you big time and that was Rick's problem. Did I mention in my original post about this show that Sean's stepdaughters have the weirdest names ever? Joopsy and Arwen. I think they might be from Neptune or something. Where do these kind of  names come from if not Neptune? No explanation so far. Joopsy and Arwen's mom is apparently very loud in bed so the guys where trying to help Sean soundproof the bedroom. The house is super small, not sure soundproofing is going to help one bit. Last week when Nate needed baby proofing stuff they went to Callahans for everything. This week Callahans was the place to go for soundproofing crap.  I'm betting that Callahans has juicers too! I'm into this one. Season Pass is staying put.

NEWS & INFORMATION:

-Too much Ryan Seacrest apparently is a bad thing. Ryan was booed big time in Denver last night as he helped NBC kickoff the 2013 football season. Broncos fans wanted no part of Seacrest and let him and NBC know it. Maybe the hardest working man in show business needs to take a vacation...from one of his gigs anyway.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80WDrdZQ3wA

-Yesterday in Washington DC, a District Court judge sided with broadcasters and issued an injunction to temporarily shut down FilmOnX a service that broadcasts local TV programming over the Internet without paying broadcasters for the right to do so.  FilmOnX is similar to Aereo so this is a pretty big ruling that will probably result in a quick appeal and a push for the case to go to the Supreme Court if Congress doesn't step. The ruling is a big deal. If it sticks, Aereo's big plans to take over Internet broadcasting will be squashed big time. So this one's something I'm continuing to follow. Stay tuned!

-Most rumors turn out to be somewhat true don't they? We kept hearing that Alec Baldwin would be entering the talk show arena and now it's official. Alec will host a one hour talk show on Friday nights from 10-11pm on MSNBC starting in October. It's described as a "current events and culture" talk show. Having listened to Alec's podcast, "Here's the Thing" I'm betting it's just a spin off of that. Alec does have some pretty decent interviewing skills and his interests are all over the place, so I'm definitely going to check it out. I'll remind you guys as it gets closer. Congrats Alec.

-According to Forbes Magazine, the Top 5 Highest paid TV actresses are:
Sofia Vergara - making $30 Milllion Dollars a year (mainly from endorsement deals like Diet Pepsi and Covergirl)
Mariska Hargitay - $11MM
Kaley Cuoco - $11MM (that one caught me by surprise)
Tina Fey -$10MM
Bethenny Frankel - $10MM

-One Life to Live which had gotten a second life online via Prospect Park, has been shut down due to a lawsuit. It's currently on life support waiting and hoping for it's 3rd life to begin. I feel for all of you soap opera people. If you're still sticking with it after all this time, that is real fandom. I gave um all up in 1988!!

-Time Warner Cable's trying to make it up to everyone who stuck by them these past few weeks. As your reward, you can now watch AMC shows, including Breaking Bad on the go via the TWC app. In addition to that, for all of you guys that have been without Showtime during the blackout, they too are hooking you guys up with replays of Dexter and Ray Donovan episodes all weekend.  It's supposed to be a gorgeous weekend, so you may want to TiVO these eps and play outside while you still can. Save um for later.

-If you've been missing Will, Grace, Karen, Jack and Rosario, you're in luck if you have WEtv or Logo. Will & Grace will launch on these nets on 9/22 with a Sunday marathon.  Not sure how many people care at this point, I might actually tune in if I remember.  I never watched any of them on Lifetime, so it could be nice to see the gang again but there's SO many other shows to watch, so chances are slim.

-Shout out to Brett Blattman for sending me the link to these Parks & Rec gag reels. I haven't watched them all yet, but the first one is awesome. Check them out here, thanks Brett.

Please make sure to get your Emmy votes in for Best Drama. Over the weekend, the category changes, so be sure to check it out and vote.

Friday's Trivia Question: What is the name of the new Andy Samberg show on FOX?
5 point bonus for this weeks theme!

Have a great weekend!

I'm Baaaaacccckkkk!!!! TUESDAY 9/3

With the 2013 Primetime Emmy's just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to have readers do some voting and see just how good you all are at predicting the winners. Make sure you cast your vote for Best Primetime Drama. The poll is on the upper right hand side of the blog when you're on your computer.  For some reason, you can't see it when viewing on your mobile.  I'll update the categories weekly until we get to Emmy night.  Also I'll be sending out the Emmy ballot sheet next week for you to fill out! September's a fun TV month!

All I watched last night was 3 episodes of WLNY's Brady Bunch Marathon, some US Open and an episode of Friends before the Below Deck Reunion.  I'll watch Under the Dome tonight.  Wish I remembered the Brady Bunch Marathon was on earlier, I would have watched um all.  At least I caught 3 of the best eps ever...The Silver Platters, The "Oh My Nose" and Davy Jones.  Doesn't get better than that!

Below Deck Reunion
In a nutshell, everyone hated Adrienne on the boat and still does. Sam was a stuck up, entitled snot on the boat and still is, CJ was an arrogant ass on the boat and still is.  The only person who changed at all was Kat who was extremely remorseful about her drunken behavior. During the reunion, she came clean about the lies, and the drinking and admitted it was all unacceptable.  All I cared about was seeing Dave and Eddie again.  They were cute on the boat and still are. Dave has a much hotter haircut now, but I did miss them in their uniforms a bit.  After seeing everyone's disdain for each other on the reunion, I'm pretty sure there will be a different cast next season, no way most of these guys would ever be together again, especially Captain Lee. He seemed pissed off on the boat and that didn't change at all during the reunion.

Modern Dads
Hoping some of you guys checked out this new reality show on A&E. It's about 4 real stay home dads, living in Austin and hanging out together.  Stone is the "hot" divorced dad, Nate is the new dad, Rick is the veteran dad and Sean is the stepdad.  Stone looks like Jon Hamm and in between his daughter's story time and planning a princess party for Rick's 1 year old twins he got 2 girls numbers and free cake delivery for the party. Rick has 4 kids and is pretty much a mess, but he's hilarious. His idea of baby proofing is duct tape and a football helmet. Nate is new parent paranoid, and Sean is the man/child type.  We met 3 of the 4 working Mom's who all seem pretty cool, but the role reversal is interesting to watch. Loved seeing Nate running after his toddler, Cormac, while his wife was beckoning for a cup of coffee.  I liked this show and gave it a Season Pass.  It's nice to see the tables turned and the male thought process when it comes to parenting (or anything else for that matter).

News & Information:

-I'm not a big "I told ya so" kinda person, but with the NFL kickoff just days away, you knew that CBS and Time Warner Cable would reach an agreement juuuust in the nick of time and yesterday at about 5:30pm all of you guys who've been missing Under the Dome, Big Brother, and all those HIMYM reruns, were back in business.  Congrats guys, you made it. Fill me in, what did you do (if anything) during the blackout, to view your faves? I've been broadcasting BB via my Iphone to my BFF Alyssa for a few weeks now. Gotta admit, I'm going to miss her commentary during this weeks veto competition.

-Well ladies, (and perhaps some guys out there too) Jax Teller is the guy.  EL James finally announced her Christian Gray and her Anastasia Steele for the 50 Shades movie next Summer.  Sure I had my heart set on Ian Somerhalder since he would be PERFECT as our fave masochist, but I gotta say...Charlie Hunnam is a great choice.  For anyone that DOESN'T watch Sons of Anarchy, get started now...the new season starts next week. Guarantee you'll feel better about it once you see his naked butt.   Anastasia is going to be played by Kate from the cancelled way too soon FOX comedy, Ben & Kate. I can see her in it. I think she'll be good.  Fun fact, she's Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith's daughter.

-I did a lot on vacation, read 2 books, competed in my families annual Mini Golf Tournament (nail biting 1 hole tie breaker loss to my husband), hung out with friends, ate...a lot, drank...not as much as I ate, and yes, I did stay pretty up to date with a lot of my shows while on LBI.  During all of this, I made a decision. I'm officially not going to watch any show (other than Big Brother) that requires more than a one hour commitment each week. No Idol, no X Factor and no Voice among others. I hope I stick to it, I do love me some Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, and it's going to be tough to not tune in and check out the new "slimmer" Xtina, but these shows are real time suckers and I just don't have it to give.  I know a lot of you are making this decision right now for yourselves too.  Not sure if this helps, but here's a host/judge cheat sheet for the music competition shows coming up let me know if you'll be watching any of um this season:

American Idol  Host: Ryan Seacrest, Judges-JLo, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.
X Factor Host  Mario Lopez, Judges-Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland & Paulina Rubio (Who?)
The Voice (Fall Cycle) CeeLo, Xtina, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton

-A friend sent me this awesome speech that Kevin Spacey made regarding content consumption and the TV business and how it's all changing.  I love it. Kevin rules in every way and obviously gets it.  Check it out. It's short and to the point and RIGHT on the money...let me know what you think. http://www.businessinsider.com/everyone-in-the-tech-and-tv-industries-is-passing-around-this-speech-by-kevin-spacey-2013-8

-Season 4 of Downton Abbey doesn't start for a while for all of us here in the USA, but in Britain it starts soon, here's the trailer.  Looks awesome and I can't wait! Of course watching the trailer reminded me of Mary and Matthew and last seasons heart breaking finale, but I got over it quickly and now I'm psyched for season 4.
http://www.buzzfeed.com/jacelacob/downton-abbey-season-4-trailer

-I did a lot of live commenting on the Watching Way Too Much Facebook page during the MTV VMA's last week, so for those of you that haven't "liked" my page, you missed out on all of the fun.  I don't really want to get into the Miley issue since it's really old news at this point, but net/net, the VMA's ratings were back to 2011 levels, the social buzz was through the roof, and the show, aside from Miley was pretty decent. (I personally would have liked more than 120 seconds of an NSync reunion.) Proof that bad taste and bad publicity yield good results and sales. Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and a bunch of the other artists that performed on the show, all saw immediate sales spikes.

-As my son and I were going into our favorite breakfast spot during our vacation, a very scruffy Jon Stewart and his daughter (just a guess) were exiting. Jon's back from directing his first feature film and guessing that he too is in his post LBI depression as he heads back to The Daily Show tonight.  Welcome back Jon! It'll get better...I promise.

-Nobody I know watches Longmire, but for anyone out there that does...good news, A&E gave it a 3rd season. They did cancel The Glades though...again, don't know anyone that would care about that one, but I report it all...that's what I do.

-Anyone want to get in on The Good Wife and start binge viewing it?  Good news...all 4 seasons are now available on Hulu.  I secretly watched the first 3 seasons a while ago. The show goes against my "no lawyer show" rules. So don't tell anyone.  Hard to fit much more in as the Fall season begins especially since I started watching Dexter while I spin downstairs in my basement, but if I get through all 8 seasons of Dexter, I may go back to Good Wife. It was pretty good, but I got bored with Julianna Marguiles.  I don't get her appeal at all.  She's like a robot. No emotion at all.

Tuesday's Trivia Question:  Dylan McDermott, Toni Collette & Tate Donovan - name their new show on CBS.
