THE SHOWS

Academy of Country Music Awards (Only the first Hour)
Blake and Luke were pretty controversial with their opening monologue. Same sex marriage, legalization of marijuana, Brittany Spears lack of live music in her Vegas show, Justin Bieber and more. Pretty surprising and pretty freaking funny if you ask me. The Band Perry, Florida Georgia Line performed and then, Brad Paisley played to a pool filled with way too many people, drinking way too much out of red solo cups which means that the pool had way too much pee in it by the end of Brad's new song. Blake Shelton sang his new song "My Eyes" with Gwen Sebastian who looked like Miranda before she lost the weight. Miranda and her cleavage were singing every word right along with her hubby. Brett Everidge looks just like Gerard Butler to me. Martina McBride introduced George Strait sang a new song also. Nobody knew the words, and the audience was pretty quiet while he performed. George  wore a guitar but didn't play it at all. Why wear it then? Lee Brice was up next with a pretty cool version of "I Drive Your Truck." Guy Fieri was in the house plugging his new Vegas restaurant sporting a camouflage suit. Eric Church was up next with "My Hometown." Still no awards given out 46 minutes in. Justin Moore was next with "Lettin the Night Roll." Still no awards…this is an award show right? After the commercial break, Shakira and Blake performed together. In the hour I watched the ACM's…not one award given out to anyone.

Game of Thrones
Jamie Lannister got a new haircut and new sword. He still only has one hand, but they built him a new one out of gold. That must be tough to fight with. A heavy gold hand and a heavy Valerian Steel sword.  How's he going to keep the King's safe now. His Dad wants him back   at Casterly Rock but he wants to stay close to his sister who's pissed at him for leaving her and losing his hand. The King's still a d*ck but we didn't expect him to change in a year did we? My have, Lord Tyrion is still Master of Coin and now it seems, he's also the welcome wagon. I also don't think he's been getting any. Shea's pissed off at him and Sansa's a wreck after hearing about the fate of her family. Prince Oberron showed up for the Royal wedding. He seems into some kinky stuff and he's pissed off at the Lannisters as well.  Man those dragons got big and they don't seem like they're totally controllable. Daenerys's army is massive now and she also has Liam from Nashville trying to impress her and get on her good side. Jon Snow's back at the wall recovering from his injuries and getting in trouble for his Wilding antics. Brienne's still around, Marjorie and her grandmother are involved in wedding plans and Aya's still with hound but she finally found her own horse. I think I actually understood most of Game of Thrones this time. I don't even think I have to watch it twice. Glad it's back, I've missed it.

Silicon Valley
Did you guys like Silicon Valley? I think I did. Lots of people from other things. Martin Star, the guy who grew the beard in Knocked Up, the guy from Big Love and a few others that I recognized from somewhere. Was that really Kid Rock at the beginning? They billed this show as a comedy, not sure I laughed much, but I think it's got potential. I did enjoy the very narrow car. What did you think?

The Americans
This show is getting confusing...the spy stuff is anyway. Actually I'm sort of confused by almost everything right now. Maybe it's all the wigs, I don't know. All of the Americans seem to be in trouble, all of the Russians seem to be in danger. A new Russian female spy killed her American boyfriend by putting something in the drugs he was doing and then when he died she kissed his vomitty mouth which totally grossed me out.  Elizabeth and Phillip had a really nice night together. She was even naked. It was a nice moment AND you got to see Felicity's back and butt.  The nice night was followed by a night so nice night and ruined everything when Elizabeth wanted to find out what Martha, Phillips's other wife, meant when she told Elizabeth that her brother was an "animal" in bed. Who tells someone that their brother is an animal in bed? I don't think she liked what happened next. I know I didn't. Clark was rough and borderline abusive. I didn't like seeing him like that and I definitely didn't like seeing her so upset and confused.

Hart of Dixie
As we know with this show, every week in Bluebell, there is some sort of party, event, parade etc. This week was no exception, some sort of party welcoming a bunch of French people to town, a man of the year thing that Brick was vying for but somehow lost to Joel who wasn't even there to accept the honor. Of course there has to be some sort of  wacky hijinks. This week it was George, Wade and Lemon trying to get Fancies back. They got it back, screwed it up and then lost it again. I really didn't care about any of those stories at all. The only part I cared about was the Joel/Zoey long distance relationship thing. Of course they couldn't make it work and shockingly, Joel and Zoey are done. The whole town came to Zoey's aid to help her through the break-up which was nice to see. The writers set it up where Joel COULD come back at either the wrong time or the right time, but hopefully he never comes back and Zoey ends up with George or Wade or Seth Cohen could show up in Bluebell and take Zoey to the O.C. At this point, I think I'd be happy with any of these options.

Vikings
As I predicted, the toughest woman on television, Lagertha, went back to her husband, got beaten for leaving him in the first place, and then when he was going to force her to take her top off for all the men of the village, she took a knife and stabbed him in the head and killed him. Next prediction, she will take over the village and lead her people back to Ragnar Lothbrook. He could use the help. A lot of other stuff happened, but who cares, Lagertha's the best. There should be a Vikings drinking game. Every time someone says RAGNAR LOTHBROOK…DRINK!

THE OTHER STUFF

Other than Mickey Rooney passing away last night at the age of 93 and Always Sunny in Philadelphia getting renewed for 2 more seasons, no other major new worth reporting. Slow weekend I guess.

Monday's Tough Trivia Question: Ratings are down this season, but Duck Dynasty is still a big show. I don't watch it, but maybe some of you guys do. What is the Duck Dynasty families last name? Points for as many of their first names also.

THE SHOWS

The Good Wife
Good TV makes you feel like this…good TV makes you feel ridiculous for grieving for someone that doesn't really exist but Will Gardner existed for all of us didn't he? I haven't really felt the tightening of my heart and the kind of anxiety I felt watching last nights episode of The Good Wife in a long time. The tears didn't really stop. Not hysteria, just slow tears consistently dripping down the cheeks for pretty much the entire hour. I always thought that when The Good Wife ended, Alicia and Will would leave together, not one without the other and definitely not this way. Seeing Kalinda, Diane,  Alicia and everyone who knew Will deal with his death was upsetting, intense and sort of interesting at the same time. Knowing that many of them aren't ever going to get over his loss just broke my heart and yet…life and business and politics and the law kept going on. Diane fired Will's biggest client, Kalinda dangled death in front of Will's killer but preferred to have him live with his pain instead. Cary was forced to conduct a deposition even though he was just processing the news, and Alicia was just searching for answers. Like her, we all wanted Will's final words to mean something, anything and of course…we'll never know what they meant.  Of course through my tears,  I was still able to notice a few things. Things like the weird moment David    flinched when Diane touched his shoulder. The dual meaning of when Diane told Alicia that she loved Will and Will loved her. Things like the dead body not looking at all like Will. Where did I know Finn from? See…life and the show goes on.

Lindsay
I couldn't deal with Resurrection or Oprah's Paycheck to Paycheck Town Hall after The Good Wife. I needed some brainless bullish*t before bed, so I went with Lindsay Lohan instead. The show started out the normal way. Lots of people. Lindsay's surrounded with people. Of course she's got Oprah and if Oprah tells you to stop the nonsense, you stop it. Matt, assistant #1, was finally getting his morning and evening meetings with Lindsay, so he didn't quit like he said he would. Matt fired Hollie, assistant  #2, for drinking in front of Lindsay and for being unable to build clothing racks from Bed Bath and Beyond. He also moved Lindsay's Porsche into a garage since she kept on getting parking tickets. He must be exhausted from all the hard work. AJ, Lindsay's health and life coach was up at the apartment getting Lindsay on track, with some breakfast, some list making,  and some pole dancing. Lindsay's sober coach was packing it up since his 30 day gig was over. They filmed Lindsay's appearance on Jimmy Fallon and she seemed to have it together. Jimmy was dressed like the little girl character he plays and off camera it was awkward seeing him running around like that. Lindsay's veneer broke off her tooth and there was all sorts of discussion on whether or not to give an addict anesthesia (they gave it to her). Then just when I thought I was in good shape for bed, Lindsay got busy with her community service and we met a little boy named Donovan. Lindsay worked and played with this cutie and when it was time for her to leave, he got teary, she got teary and I got teary. I think it was when he thanked her for hugging him that I lost it. Oy Vey, now I'm crying during Lindsay Lohan. I blame you Will Gardner!

Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Back
I know that most reality shows aren't really real. Scripted reality right?  I don't know what to make of the season opener of Joan & Melissa. I do know one thing though. I used to be able to watch it with my 12 year old and now…not a chance. In the season opener, Joan did the Kris Jenner show (before it got cancelled) and was so impressed by the set, the 375 crew members (who are now out of work) and the fact that it all started with Kim Kardashian's sex tape. So much so,  that she wanted a piece of the action. I can't believe Joan would want Melissa to be in a sex tape, but she did suggest it and when she turned her Mom down Joan decided SHE was going to make one. COME ON.  I know Joan's outrageous, but an 80 year old celebrity sex tape. Is there a market for that? Joan thought so. She researched it, she watched some porn, interviewed naked porn stars, and even held a casting call for her co-star. SUPER AWKWARD! I wasn't laughing, and I wasn't having fun at all. I'm know prude and I love Joan, but I don't need to see an 80 year old woman in bed with Kim's ex.  So that's what was going on with Joan. While all that was happening, Melissa's been in a long distance relationship with that super hot British guy, Duncan. Problem is, she's pushing for more from him and he's never leaving London, so there really isn't much of a future there. Melissa kind of broke up with him. For some reason Duncan called Lynn who showed up with her huge saggy boobs hanging out. She got  drunk and kissed him. When Melissa came to her senses and showed up at Duncan's hotel room, Lynn was in his bed. That had to be planned right? I doubt anything happened but Melissa's been through enough. Lynn's an idiot. I hope things get better this season. I'm going to be bummed if I end up deleting this Season Pass.

Vikings
Okay…the coolest woman on TV has gotta be Lagertha. Any woman that can kick as much viking ass sporting some serious braids is all right by me. That girl can FIGHT. I hope her plan was to leave her son, Bjorn, with his Dad and go back and kill that horrible husband of hers. If she does, it'll free her up to head back to Ragnar where she belongs. These vikings have some crazy good battle skills don't they? An ax in the head from a 100 feet away…pretty impressive. Lots of crazy killing this week. I wonder what they use to get blood stains out of their clothes. There's so much of it all over their faces and clothes. It's very distracting.  I'm not sure I totally get what's going on with the priest guy. I really need him back with Ragnar.

THE OTHER STUFF

-GMA news…Josh Elliot, the news anchor is leaving to go to NBC Sports.  Current ABC news correspondent,  Amy Robach has reportedly been tapped to replace Elliot. First Sam, now Josh and also Cynthia McFadden's leaving Nightline. What's going on over there in the news department?

-Chelsea Handler doesn't want to renew her contract on E! when it expires at the end of the year. She hasn't been happy at the network and hasn't kept that a secret at all. Personally,  I couldn't care less where she ends up as I'm really not a fan of hers at all, but I do think it could be interesting business wise. She could do a daily show via Netflix or something other new distribution channel. I'll be paying attention for that reason and that reason only. The options are really endless these days.

-Apparently some fairy tales don't end in happily ever after. ABC cancelled Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. I need to go back and check, but I believe I called this one from the get go. We had all never seen anything like Once Upon a Time that's what made it so cool and different. We all didn't need second option, not when there's so much other good stuff on these days. Do you think the days of the CSI, Law and Order and NCIS franchise type thing are over?

-Syfy gave Helix some good news on Friday and renewed it for another season for all you fans of that one.

-Apparently NPH and Jason Segel have done "The Confrontation" from Les Mis before, but during their appearance with the rest of the cast on Inside the Actors Studio, they performed it again. Check it out…it is Legen…WAIT FOR IT…DARY!

THE SHOWS
Girls
Lena Dunham warned us all on SNL that this weeks episode of Girls would be something to see. I'll admit, the warning made me nervous. I knew I'd hate it more than I normal and I was right. First we had a very drunk Hannah, then a vomiting Hannah, then a wet, naked-in-front-of-a-co-worker Hannah. You'd think that'd be enough right? Nope! Hannah actually missed the twisted stuff Adam used to make her do in bed before he fell in love with her and tried to recreate it all by donning a blond wig and a crazy black outfit and pretended to be a married bar slut for him. He wanted very little to do with her insanity. Of course he did have sex with her, he is Adam after all, but he had it out with her as soon as he was done. Marnie took a job with Su Chin and then sang with Adam's co-star and just when you thought that you've seen every possible bizarre hairdo on Shoshannah, she came up with a new one. I don't know how she finds the time to do that hair, study, find AND find Jessa's boyfriend's daughter.  How many episodes til the finale?

Resurrection
Okay, so remember that French show I told you guys about on The Sundance Channel called The Returned? This show, Resurrection, isn't an identical twin of it, but it seems like it could be a fraternal one. Lots of similarities but a VERY different look, feel, and tone. The premise is the same so far. People in this one town that were dead just reappear alive at the age at which they died. Their loved ones have moved on and aren't sure what to make of the situation...yet. Of course there's a "secret" in the town which is just like The Returned. The French version got super creepy and scary. I hope this one doesn't take that turn.  I'm in...for now.

Vikings
My theory about Rollo, Lagertha and Teen Bjorn was totally wrong. I thought for sure that they'd all hook up and come back to the village but it was 4 years later and the Princess is still around. She's pumped out 2 sons and is knocked up with another. Rollo's a homeless drunkard and Lagertha and Teen Bjorn are nowhere to be found. Ragnar's been building boats and training his guys and was finally ready to set sail for Northern England to get back to what he loves...raiding. Problem on the high seas though...a huge storm sent them to Wessex instead. Thanks to Google I figured out that Wessex is in the South of England and according to Ragnar's priest pal, who's became a brave warrior himself (and who is no longer celibate from what I can tell) is ruled by a King just like Ragnar. We met him for a second in this episode chillin in a massive bathtub. I can tell you this...looks wise, he's no Ragnar Lothbrook!

THE OTHER STUFF

-FOX has already renewed New Girl, The Mindy Project, Brooklyn Nine-Nine & The Following.  Yeah the Bacon's are going to be okay now. They're in a rebuild mode ever since they got screwed by Madoff.

- For anyone who hasn't jumped on the Orphan Black bandwagon. You still have time to watch the first season before the second one starts on 4/19. The entire season is available now on Amazon Prime!  It's good...trust me!

-Of course I had to watch Lena Dunham on SNL. I mean I HAD TO! There were two hilarious skits. The Scandal one and the Romeo & Juliet one. The Scandal one had me dying...if you didn't see it. Don't go Googling it...here they both are for your convenience: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/scandal/2755296

THE SHOWS

ACADEMY AWARDS RED CARPET COVERAGE
  • Red Carpet Crew recap: Ryan's white on white tux was fine, Giuliana's dress was hideous, Ross just bugs me altogether and I REALLY want Kelly to get rid of the lavender/grey hair already
  • Viola Davis lost a ton of weight, but now she sort of looks like a man with cockeyed boobs
  • Kristin Chenowith's dress was very pretty but from above you could see EVERYTHING
  • Liza Minnelli's face just keeps getting tighter and tighter. Only Liza could get away with a blue streak matching her blue pantsuit
  • Olivia Wilde was the most beautiful pregnant person ever. Her Valentino dress was perfect. Jason Sudekis's button covers were cool but I didn't like the bow tie not matching his suit. Loved that he was studying the names for his presentation while walking the Red Carpet. Maybe John Travolta should have done the same thing?
  • The neckline on Portia DiRossi's dress had to bug the crap out of her all night. I bet she SO regretted her choice about an hour in.
  • The pointy finger nail trend is a problem for me, but hey MOM...good news for you...it's back, you're trendy again!
  • Amy Adams looked beautiful and classy in her blue Gucci dress
  • Hopefully Barkhad Abdi now has dental
  • Idina Menzel's green dress and crazy bling was pretty awesome
  • Kristen Bell and Dax Shepherd looked really good together
  • The 12 Years a Slave guy's sister sent a video to Ryan Seacrest from the CNN news desk...over achievers make me sick
  • Kellan Lutz's tux didnt fit right and I hate the shiny material it was made of
  • I know I'm going to go against the grain here, but, Lupita Nyongo's dress wasn't right for her. She looked to harsh with that headband and then if you have NO boobs get a dress to deal with that situation right. I sort of felt that if we didn't know that Lupita was a girl, you could possibly think she was a guy in "transition". Okay I'm ready to accept the crucifixion.
  • John Legend and Chrissy Teigen always look good. Loved that Monique Lilier gave Chrissy some pockets in that dress. Still not sure how she gets any air in that tiny nose
  • If you cut the bottom of Anna Kendrick's dress off it would have been perfect for an Olympic figure skater to wear
  • Pharrell left his hat, the bottom of his pants and his socks backstage apparently
  • Laura Dern's dress was SOOOO tight up top that she had back fat and over abundance of upper chest skin. Is there a name for that?
  • Julie Delpy's dress was HORRIBLE
  • Michael B. Jordan is a fave. Good to see an FNL'er on the Red Carpet
  • Naomi Watts's dress was beautiful, but she should have bagged the necklace, she didn't need it. Awesome art deco bag too
  • June Squibb's dress was very appropriate. So were the enormous emerald earrings
  • I hope that Jimmy Fallon and Joseph Gordon Levitt get along. I'm adding him to my sleepover list.
  • Jared Letooooooo was tooooo cute with June Squibb
  • Calista Flockhart aged quite a bit. Now she doesn't look too young for Han Solo anymore
  • Apparently Ryan Seacrest hung out with Jared Leto's Mom at a basketball game the other night. So Ryan could end up becoming Jared's step dad. Look at me starting rumors.
  • Benedict Cumberbatch is a very strange looking guy
  • Kevin Spacey in a blue tux...perfect. My son drew my attention to his exceptionally large ears
  • Jessica Biel's dress reminded me of Easter
  • Bette Midler looked very nice and is a lot younger than I thought (68)
  • Kerry Washington is SO having a girl and has definitely gained more weight than her OBY/GYN has advised
  • Sarah Paulson's dress matched her skin...no likey
  • Cate Blanchett's dress matched hers and Sarah Paulson's skin but I did like it. I just didn't like those earrings
  • If You See Something Say Something: Mysterious creepy African American woman looking like she was sneaking into the Oscars or something...did you see her?

VIKINGS
Vikings was back on Thursday night and started out with a big time brother against brother bloody brawl. Not sure why Rollo chose not to wear a shirt or armor during the battle. Bit of a show-off I suppose. "Look at my overdeveloped pecs."  "Look at how much blood I spilled."  None of that mattered, he lost the battle and was locked up. The gods were on his side though. Some regular dude who stood on a sacred stone said that the gods wanted Rollo set free. So he packed it up and left the village since everyone hates him now. After that you'd think Ragnar could breathe easy, but he didn't get a chance. That princess he cheated on Lagertha with last season showed up preggers. Ragnar thought an open relationship where they all lived together was a greatttt idea, but Lagertha would have none of it soooooo she packed it up and left too. Bjorn, Ragnar's son (wish he was younger so I could call him Baby Bjorn) was going to stay with Ragnar but changed his mind and left with his Mom. My guess is that they'll both go hook up with Rollo and come back to the village in the not so distant future.

HITRECORD
I don't have the Pivot network on my cable system, but the folks at Pivot were nice enough to send me the entire first season of Joseph Gordon Levitt's amazing show HitRecord. I'm guessing none of you guys have ever seen it even though I begged anyone who has Pivot to watch it a few weeks ago. This show is so cool, interesting and innovative.  The first show was about the Number 1 but there was a show about trash, space, the other side, money patterns and more. I loved the one about space. You have to see it to understand what it's all about. I still think it's a game changer and just want people to check it out. If Joseph Gordon Levitt is miraculously reading this blog. Bravo bud.

EPISODES
OMG, best episode so far. The scene with Matt LeBlanc and his Dad was classic. I have no idea how many times the "F" bomb was dropped, but it could have given Wolf of Wall Street a run for its money. Carol confronted Bev about the secret meeting with FOX but since Bev knew nothing about it they checked in with Sean who came clean.  Castor had his meds JUST right but decided to thrown them all out the window and crashed...mentally, not physically but I guess he had some spares at home because he was better the next day for the meeting with his boss. Of course Carol saved the day and served up Bev and Sean's show. Now she's got to figure out how to keep them from heading home.

THE OTHER STUFF

If you've been watching my FBFF's show, then you know that the Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emmanuel, challenged him to take the Polar Plunge into Lake Michigan yesterday to benefit the Special Olympics. My guy, dressed in a suit and tie showed up and hit the 10 degree water. He tweeted that he "Officially Plunged". Looking forward to hearing more tonight. Love that guy!

The Independent Spirit Awards were given out Saturday Night on IFC. 12 Years a Slave won all the big movie awards. Acting wise, seemed like a deja vu from all the other award shows. Cate, Matthew, Jared and Lupita.

On a separate note, The Razzie Awards, the awards for the worst in film, were also given out on Saturday night. Worst Movie went to Movie 43. The Smith family cornered the market in worst acting trophies with Jaden taking home worst actor and Will taking home worst supporting actor and the two of them took home the worst screen combo award as well. I'm sure they're crying all the way to the bank.
