-I got home pretty early last night, didn't go to the gym, and watched Sunday's episode of THE NEWSROOM instead. While sweating my butt off would have been a good idea, watching one of the finest hours of drama I've seen in a long time was a lot more enjoyable.  Aaron Sorkin at his finest...really.  This episode took place the night President Obama announced that Osama Bin Laden had been killed. The episode was powerful, but there was also a bit of humor as Will McEvoy was at a party prior to being called in to work and had gotten pretty high on marijuana cookies that he'd eaten without knowing what was in them.  While the newsroom prepared to go live with the announcement we got to see what goes on behind the scenes with huge breaking stories like this one.  I usually have to watch THE NEWSROOM more than once because I either didn't understand it all,  or I missed something...but this time I may watch it a few times because it was just THAT good!

-Last night was the live broadcast of my son's Color War Sing.  He has been away at sleep away camp almost 7 weeks and comes home this Saturday.  I won't get into the entire thing, but I watched the Sing on my laptop, while texting my camp friend on my iPhone with the Olympics on my TV in the background...talk about multitasking and multiple screens...I didn't miss much of the Olympics...beach volleyball and a few hurdles, but Color War was over just in time for me to see Gabby Douglas and the Russian chick fall off the balance beam. (For anyone that cares, BLUE-my son's team- won Color War.) The Ali Raisman thing is nuts...and of course Bela "you can do it" Karolyi is right in the thick of it all. Jordyn Weiber was just really having a tough time at these Olympic games...the floor exercise...disastrous. BUT...Ali Raisman's floor exercise to Hava Nagila...amazing!!! (Loving the women's costumes BTW).  Congrat's to Ali for her bronze and of course the gold too!!!

How come Carmelita Jeter and Derek Jeter have the exact same last name but pronounce it completely different?

When the women are running, it looks fake to me.  Like a special effect or something.  Alyson Felix didn't even break a sweat in her heat.  She wasn't even out of breath.  Loved that she talked about watching SCANDAL while she was waiting to run...I bet NBC cringed at that moment.

-More amazing Olympic numbers:
  • More than 200 MILLION viewers have tuned in to the first 11 days of the Olympics
  • 7 out to 10 Americans have watched the London 2012 Olympics (what are the other 3 watching?)
  • Average Viewership for the first 11 nights-33.1 Million
  • Average HH Rating for the first 11 nights-18.5 which is the highest for any Non-US Summer Olympics in 36 years
  • Highest rated time zone: Mountain (21.8), Pacific (20.1), Central (20.0) and Eastern (19.0)
  • For the first 11 nights in metered markets the Top 5 markets are:  Salt Lake City (26.6), Milwaukee (24.4), Kansas City (24.2), Denver (23.8) and Columbus OH (23.3)
  • Just a comment...NY, LA, Chicago and a few other top markets were NOT in the top 20.

-As a loyal Howard Stern fan, I had to stay up late for  WATCH WHAT HAPPENS LIVE since Howard's wife, Beth was on with L A Reid. Andy is SO good...SO good.  When asked if Beth was going to have a baby...she answered "not in the near future".  That was a very interesting answer. If Howard was asked the same question he would say NEVER! Other big revelation, LA Reid dropped or didn't sign Lady Gaga and he said that the hardest person he's ever worked with was Janet Jackson.  There were a whole bunch of puppies on the show with Beth, since she is the spokesperson for the North Shore Animal League and of course...one of them went poo during the broadcast and chaos ensued.  Ya gotta love live TV!

-Viewing videos on a tablet is a more popular activity for older tablet owners than it is for younger ones:
  • 14.3% of tablet owners ages 50-64 reported watching videos as their most common tablet activity in March 2012, compared to just 6.4% of 30-49 year-olds and 5.4% of 18-29 year-olds.
  • The most popular tablet activity overall within the oldest age group was email (28.6%)
  • The most popular tablet activity for those under the age of 50 was playing games (28.6% for the 18-29 group; 26.7% for the 30-49 group).
  •  40.2% of 18-29 year-old respondents said they clicked on ads within mobile apps (for both smartphones and tablets), compared to 37.2% of 30-49 year-olds and 31.7% of 50-64 year-olds.
Wednesday's Boss Themed Trivia Question: George Steinbrenner was this guy's boss on a hit primetime comedy. Name the character and the show.
