Late Night Ratings for the Week of 10/22/12-10/26/12
On Friday night, we watched the Hurricane Sandy telethon which raised 23 million bucks. Not bad for an hour if you think about it. I thought everyone, including Xtina did an amazing job. What I guess was a bit surprising to me, and maybe they are working on this, is that none of the songs performed are available to purchase. I would have thought that this was a given with proceeds going to Sandy relief. Maybe they couldn't pull it off that quickly? I definitely would have purchased all the songs especially Billy Joel's updated version of "Miami 2017" and Jimmy Fallon (who had some major cojones taking the lead from Steven Tyler) and Aerosmith's version of "Under the Boardwalk". Another thing that had me googling was how amazing everyone looks for their age. (Well, maybe not Billy, but the rest of them do). Jon Bon Jovi is now 50, Kevin Bacon is 54 (He should have sung but he didn't) Sting is 61, Bruce and Billy are both 63, and Steven Tyler is 64. Jon Stewart (who is 49) and I both share a love of Long Beach Island NJ. He is always down there when I am every Summer, (I'm sure he's down there more than me, he owns, I rent) and he looked like he had really been through a lot. I'm not a huge Mary J. Blige fan (she is 41 btw) but she was really good too. I want to thank them all for getting together so fast and raising awareness and money.
Over the weekend, after waiting for gas, catching up on laundry and stocking back up on food, I also caught up on Hart of Dixie and The Vampire Diaries. HOD was cute and enjoyable, but TVD is just getting so juicy I can't take it. There are so many crazy twists but what I am enjoying the most is Elena's transition to a vampire. Apparently because she is THE doppelganger she can't drink animal blood, she can't drink from blood bank bags...she can only take if from "the vein". So Damon needs to take her under his wing and teach her how to feed which you know he is loving. Caroline and Stefan are useless so Damon's got to be the one. Trouble is, Elena still has feelings and can't handle what she's doing to people. It's awesome and oh...so complex. Loving all of it!
I think I mentioned recently that Oprah is bringing her "Oprah's Favorite Things" show back out of what I am guessing is desperation for ratings. I don't need to watch though, and neither do you because the entire list is available already on her website. Big mistake if you ask me. The idea was to get us to go to OWN and WATCH it. When I used to work at MediaVest, Susan Schreiber and I would huddle around her TV and write down everything and it was appointment TV for us and so many others. Releasing the info early, online, in my opinion defeats the purpose( with the exception of the sweepstakes, but I'm not a big sweepstakes person anyway). So for anyone who cares...here's the list and there are a few cool items on it for that special someone.

For those of you who didn't get to see any of Jimmy Kimmel's shows from Brooklyn due to Sandy, I've been reading that the ratings were strong, but they aren't in yet. Once I have them I'll share. With Election Day tomorrow, I thought I would share one of the clips from Jimmy's show last week. Again, I don't do politics, so no judging please...I just like funny stuff and this is FUNNY

Good news for all of you Long Island Medium fans, TLC has already given the green light for Season 4. At this rate, the line on the other side to make contact must be longer then the gas lines are these days!
Bad news for The Goodwin Games, a show I kind of liked when I saw the pilot, FOX cut the episode order from 13 to 7. I wonder if that's because the rest of the episodes sucked? I really like the cast and now Becki Newton is probably bummed she isn't THE ONE for Barney Stinson.
This is a big week for one of my favorite networks, Bravo. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Top Chef Seattle, Start Ups: Silicon Valley and LOLWork all premiere. I am hoping to catch them ALL, but that is a tough goal to achieve these days.

Early Morning News Ratings for the Week of 10/22/12-10/26/12
The first 5 minutes of Once Upon a Time where Captain Hook explains the "real" version of Jack and the Beanstalk was really confusing and I didn't have time to go back and play it 8 times to figure it all out...net net, Emma, and Hook climb the beanstalk (and engage in a psychotherapy session) in order to get the magic compass. Hurley from Lost, is the giant who tries to stop them. Of course only in Fairytale Land (and on TV) could Emma get to the top of the beanstalk in 5 minutes, knock Hurley out with magic powder, cut a deal with him to hold Hook hostage for a while, get the magic compass, and get back down the beanstalk just in the nick of time. I hate saying anything bad about one of the best shows on television, but the beanstalk effects were terrible and really looked ultra cheesy. While all of this was going on, we did find out more about Emma before she arrived in Storybrook. First of all, she stole her adorable yellow VW Bug and fell in love with a thief who was hiding in the car when she stole it. Turns out he's Henry's Daddy and I think they did love each other. I'm pretty sure, we didn't learn his name, so I'll refer to him as Henry's Dad or HD from here on in. HD and Emma pulled off a watch heist and HD had to leave to meet up with the fence guy. (Not the kind for your backyard). On his way, he "bumps" into August/Pinocchio who explains the truth to HD, he apparently believed the story and disappeared so that Emma could take the wrap for the crime, follow her destiny and save Storybrooke. The show ended with Henry having a bad dream that, like the beginning of the show, I didn't understand and did play back twice and still wasn't sure.
A big fake wedding on Revenge this week. I guess the super rich don't have to wait 4-6 weeks for their very special wedding invitations to arrive, since the Grayson's invites were done and out in less than a week. Emily looked awesome in red and on Aidan's arm. I loved Victoria's Vera Wang, it also went well with the gun Conrad gave her as a wedding gift. (What else do you give the woman who has everything?) While everyone was at the wedding, crazy Cara Clark went through Victoria's stuff and found a photo of her late husband, David Clark. Mason on the other hand found Gordon, dead in his trailer with a PERFECTLY placed Conrad Grayson cuff link right near the body...CMON. Charlotte blew off the wedding to hang with Decklin. Once Mason put all the pieces together, Conrad was arrested, a woman from "The Initiative" showed up, posted his bail and told him she'd be in touch. Jack proposed to Amanda and of course she said yes. I don't know what will be juicier, when Emily finds out about Jack's proposal, when Emily and Amanda (and Jack) hear from Mason next, or when we find out what "The Initiative wants with Conrad..

Everyone was watching Roya on Homeland. We learned a lot about her this week...originally from London, family is from Palestine, she is the youngest of six and was born in 1975. She has her Masters from Oxford and lived in Beirut. We don't know how she got involved with Abu Nazir and we don't know who her secret meeting was with, but we do know that he ended up killing all of Carrie's surveillance team, although are we sure that Quinn is dead? Again, I don't mean to nit pick, but these days it isn't that easy to just walk into a hospital and find the right patient on the right floor especially when you have NO idea what her name is...that was a bit far fetched and now of course Dana and her BF are in more trouble since the woman they hit died. Mike seems to have figured out pretty simply that Brody killed Tom Walker, but David Estes, Saul and the rest of the government doesn't want him to do anything about it, but that didn't stop him from telling Jessica, but Jessica wants to be the Vice President's wife so badly that she doesn't even want to go there with Mike. How ugly was Carrie's ugly cry at the end when she went to Brody. OMG that was really good. Do we think that Brody did know that by telling Roya he was putting the entire operation in jeopardy? Does Brody actually know whose side he's really on anymore? The lines are getting very very blurry if you ask me.

WWTM-Kristy
Kevin Bacon is 54. Jim Farber from The Daily News said that Sting "stolre" the show. I say Jim Farber needs his ears cleaned out.
