The beginning of How I Met Your Mother with everyone hiding in Barney's apartment had the makings of a classic episode, it did, but something was missing, and I know what it was.  It was funny Barney.  Everyone has a specific role in this show and when you mess with the delicate balance, it just turns the entire show on its ear.  That's what happened in this episode. Also, Marshall's Mom and Lily's Dad...ewwwww.  Barney and Patrice...ewwwww.  Robin's desperation...ewwwww.  I did count all of the stuff that the gang borrowed from Ted and didn't return. That was fun...I guess... Let me know if I forgot something: Red cowboy boots, garbage can, label maker, mini cooler, xmas ornaments, hoody, Weekend at Bernies DVD, drill & pocket knife.

Holy makeover Batman! Did you check out Nicholas David on The Voice last night? WOW! I barely recognized him.  Adam and Blake looked amazing in their suits and ties.  Droopy wasn't so droopy at all and CeeLo apparently didn't get the dress up memo.  He was in white street clothes.
The show opened with Michael Buble and his really good version of "Baby Please Come Home".  Don't you love saying Michael Buble's name?
I found it weird that a guy would sing "Wing Beneath My WIngs" but Trevin Hunte did a good job with the song. It's not one of my favorites but he did sing the hell out of it.
Nicholas David sang the best song of the night, "You Are So Beautiful." I really couldn't believe how good he looked and his amazing rendition of the song moved me to tears and the audience to their feet.
Blake and all of his team sang "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" and miraculously it started to snow on the stage. Sorta cheesy actually.
Cassadee Pope sang "Stupid Boy" I don't think it gets her to the finals...I think she goes home.
Terry McDermott sang "Let it Be".  Great song choice for him.

Howie Mandel was all over the place Monday promoting his new show Take it All.  I had to check it out...it's my job.  Perfect show to launch right now, since so many of us are playing the White Elephant/Secret Santa Swap game at our holiday parties.  (I got a very nice box of Godiva chocolate at mine).  The prizes are insane on this show, the game is pretty simple and the contestants are all nutty.  The winner of the first episode walked away with 420K in cash and prizes and the prizes were NUTS!  Smart Car, Beer Cave, Swimming Pool, Rock-N-Roll Fantasy Camp and more.  Gotta admit, we got into it.  Of course there was nothing else on, but I could have watched a Sons of Anarchy episode and I didn't. I got suckered in big time.

Okay, if Mauricio wants to surprise his wife with a brand new Maserati on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, I think it's sweet, but when he surprises his 16 year old daughter, Alexia, who JUST got her license with a Mercedes C250 I think it's just stupid...or, it's Beverly Hills. What's up with the name Jax? Now it's popping up everywhere. Sons of Anarchy, my boss's son and a bartender at Sur!  Are there other Jax's that I am unaware of? Ken had his hip replacement surgery and Lisa was so worried about him she actually held his hand and touched his privates.  As she said, its the time when you think you are going to lose someone that makes you really appreciate them.  Bummer for them that the only we he gets any lovin is to go under the knife.  No idea what the "bomb" was that Brandi dropped about Adrienne and Paul and why Kim HAD to tell them about it at Mauricio's event, but I'm guessing we are going to find out soon and that this round of drama has just begun.  I was kind of disappointed with Camille's new boyfriend.  Granted she had been with Kelsey Grammar so the bar wasn't that high, but the new guy...not that interesting or that cute, but apparently he makes some amazing lamb chops.

News & Information:

*My son was obsessed with ESPN's "You Don't Know Bo" documentary that aired after the Heisman Trophy ceremony on Sunday night.  I didn't think much of it until I read that the program did a 2.3 rating and is now ESPN's highest rated documentary ever. According to Dylan Carruba, it was "the best 30 for 30 episode he had ever seen".

*The American Film Institute announced its top Programs of the Year.  They are:

Girls -Do not get that this show is on every ones best of lists...I hated it
Homeland -Hey, I'm devoting an entire week to this one, that's how good it is...an entire week
Louie-I need to start watching this on
Mad Men-I get it
Modern Family-If you notice, it's the only show on broadcast TV
The Walking Dead -Well if 11 million people are watching it...I guess it has to be good!
Parenthood deserves to be on this list too instead of Girls

*The American Film Institutes top Movies of the Year:

Beasts of the Southern Wild-Believe it or not...I've seen this one and it's odd but good
The Dark Knight Rises-No desire
