Nashville
Not too many happy people in Nashville these days. Scarlett's not into fame, fortune, pretty clothes and pampering. Peggy's NOT preggers and Maddie's so upset that Peggy's wearing grandma's ring that she ran away to the Delta station, took her shoes off and called Juliette Barns to come get her. Who knew Juliette would be the good guy here? Deacon's always miserable and I really don't like him with that lawyer at all. Tandy's thinking Daddy had something to do with Rayna and her Mom's death. Rayna's dealing with having Shania Twain Syndrome (STS) and everyone else's issues. Will & Gunnar are battling over Will's song. With Rayna out of the tour, Laila's in, poor girl. Just wait til Juliette gets done with her.  So it's a bit stressful for everyone these days in Nashville. How beautiful were Rayna's daughters singing together? That's gotta make Rayna feel good, but it was a painful reminder that she needs some throat lozenges and therapy. I loved Rayna's blue tie dye gown...perfect for the symphony. Just thought I'd mention it.

Back in the Game
Not much to write...The Cannon gave Danny some good/bad advice. The girls like the bad boy. Credit to Griffin Gluck, the kid in the show who plays Danny. He did make a good bad boy and got the girl and then lost the girl. Great advice  which worked... and then didn't . Terry went out and got wasted. Still a cute show.

Modern Family
The Pritchett's, the Dunphy's and the Pritchett/Tuckers' were all getting ready for dinner together. That was the entire show. A bit Seinfeldian, and it worked for me. Small moments...wine in the Mom mug, Phil's way-too-tight suit, coke shaken not stirred, Midnight Train To Georgia karaoke-Part 1, Luke paintballing his Mom and Midnight Train to Georgia-Part 2...the train Jay would never make unless he told Gloria it was leaving at 11. Loved this episode.

Survivor
The crazy tribal council from last week was all the talk at the beginning of this weeks episode of Survivor.  Definitely made Caleb a force in the game and a man that can't be trusted. Right away we had John, Candice and Brad competing to stay in the game over on Redemption Island. Shockingly, it was Candice who lost the duel and was sent packing. John offered up the clue to Monica, Brad's wife, but she, again, threw it in the fire. A big F U to John...again. Back at camp we got some great shots of every one's disgusting feet, bug bites, puss filled wounds and poor Katie's disappearing toenails. Putting on a wet shoe must be just awful for her.  Rupert's wife was on the outs in her camp. People just find her annoying, so when Tadhana won their first immunity/steak challenge on the Kamikaze slide I used to go down at Action Park (now I'm REALLY dating myself) it would have been super simple to just vote her out. Jeff sure made her feel like crap at tribal about NOT being Rupert. She had to want to punch him for that. But it was Aras who came up with this weeks great idea.  Send Laura M. to Redemption Island to knock off Brad which would make Monica a huge asset. Pretty good thinking and that's exactly what happened. I bet Rupert's wife is doin a jig right now. She just got another 3 days.

NEWS & INFORMATION

-For anyone who's a South Park fan, ya gotta love that this weeks episode didn't air because the guys just didn't make their deadline. Pure and simple. With the all the fun reruns, I'm not sure why it was so necessary to make this information public. Fans would have probably been okay with that. There really are no secrets anymore huh?

-Olivia Pope aka Kerry Washington, will be hosting SNL in a couple of weeks on November 2nd. It's going to be her first time on the show, but you can SO see the Scandal skit. Hope they do it justice. Also on that night, Eminem will be performing. Could be interesting to get those two in a skit together. Eminem could be Huck. That would be funny, they do make a lot of the same faces.

-I loved Breaking Bad just as much as anyone, but live streaming a funeral for Walter White? Really? I know I watch a lot of stuff, but a funeral for a fake character? Nahhhh

-There's a TON on TV tonight, but for anyone who loves Downton Abbey or The White Queen or cute girls and hot guys, I strongly recommend Reign on the CW. It was my favorite pilot this year. Check it out and let me know what you think. Betting you love it.

Jimmy & Kanye
-With all of the fun TV on last night there was nothing better than Kanye West on Jimmy Kimmel. For those of you reading this in a cave somewhere, Kanye and Jimmy have been in a Twitter war over a skit Jimmy did on his show making fun of an interview Kanye did with the BBC. Kanye showed up with his fringe boots and sparkly grill and at first it was a bit awkward but it was amazing trainwreck TV.  It was real and Kanye spouted his stuff to the camera, not to Jimmy's face. When it was Jimmy's turn to speak he spoke directly to Kanye and pretty much told him that in general, people think he's a jerk and he has always defended him. Kanye believes that he himself is a creative genius and he's not afraid to say it or anything else that's in his brain. The man is filterless and I couldn't take my eyes off him. I need to rewatch the entire interview. Jimmy called Kanye out for calling himself a genius but Kanye just kept going on and on and on. Ranting about the paparazzi, that Kim Kardashian doesn't have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame and that he is pretty much taking meetings with everyone in fashion because he IS fashion. I can't even do this thing justice.  Later in the show, Josh Groban performed a skit singing Kanye's tweets and Kanye was able to laugh at it, sort of. Kanye ended up having shmutz on his face at one point  probably the result of the grill and talking so much. OMG people you need to see this thing. Watch the show, the entire thing.  It's divided up into 6 parts on YouTube, so just go watch. KUDOS TO YOU JIMMY KIMMEL!  GREAT TV! Howard would be proud.

Survivor
I'm not going to waste my time typing about Candice and John at Redemption together, or Gervase and Tyson's secret coconut scam because tribal council was insane last night! I hope Colton's home watching Caleb kick some Survivor ass. That boy knows how to play the game and man he did blow things up last night. He found out that Brad was floating his name around for eviction even though Brad was telling him and the other guys that Ciera was the main target since she sucks at puzzles and had lost the last 2 challenges for the tribe. At tribal, Caleb not only called Brad out on it, he told everyone that he was going to write Brad's name on the paper. That resulted in a tie. During the second round of voting we all thought Hayden was turning on Brad but it had to be Vytas. So, not only did Brad get sent to Redemption, but he's now going to be there with Candice and John who hate his guts. OMG I can't even believe it...tooooo juicy. Damn I love this show!

Back in the Game
Hard to write a lot about this show. James Caan is the show. He's politically incorrect, nasty, and not even good to look at, but it doesn't matter, he's hilarious. I don't know why I think he's playing himself, maybe because he was a nasty guy when I met him, but either way on TV it works and it works well. This week, he was being especially mean to the kids and they all determined that it was because he was "pent up". So Terry went online to find him the Markie Post, the perfect woman for him. She seemed awesome, but he didn't go for her, he got some disgusting cigarette smoking, coughing chick just to piss Terry off. There was a whole thing with Dick the D*ck and chocolate sales but all that was irrelevant to anything James Caan does or says.

Modern Family
Did we know that Cam's sister's name is Pam? If I knew...I forgot this funny tidbit. Pam was in town visiting her bro and breaking the news that she was marrying Beau, Cam's first crush. Claire and Phil were not in the mood to go to another one of Luke's soccer tournaments. (I felt their pain. Some days the LAST thing I want to do is go sit out on those bleachers but...we do it.) So they agreed to stay home and get stuff done. Phil spent his time cleaning out the gutters and killing birds. Claire ended up getting her errands done so fast that she showed up at the field just in time to see Luke play the game of his life. (Some cool Mom had Sangria at soccer, why didn't I think of that?) Problem was, she couldn't tell Phil she was there. She didn't have to though...Cam told him after he freaked out when he forced everyone to tell him things about himself that they didn't think he could handle. (Hailey doesn't like Cam's shirts with the crazy cuffs.) He couldn't. Gloria needed glasses but was to vain to get them so Jay and Manny pretended that Jay accidentally ate rat poison to see if Gloria could read the box and figure out what to do. She couldn't and Jay fake died. Two great lines of the night: 1) Mitch asked Cam why the wedding swatches were both white and Lily responded with: "That's what my friend Keisha asked me about you and Daddy". 2) Jay and Gloria were talking at the end of the show and said: "I won't be able to hear her and she won't be able to see me...we'll be together forever".

Nashville
Rayna and Teddy signed their divorce papers which is cool because I hate Teddy. He was a total jerk to Deacon when all Deacon was doing was telling him he was a good Dad and he IS Maddie's Dad. Deacon's doin the AA thing and in so much pain physically and mentally. We finally found out that Deacon's dad was an abusive drunk too.  I love Deacon, I felt SO bad for him last night, but I also was noticing that his forehead wasn't so crinkly, do you think he got a little Botox? I wouldn't care if he did, just an observation. Juliette blew off the Shareholders showcase to get a million bucks for playing a wealthy couples party. The husband said all he wanted to do was play a song with Juliette, but he ended up doing WAY more than that. Rayna told Scarlett and Liam that she's "lost her voice" and can't sing anymore. (Just like Shania Twain!) So at the Shareholder showcase she had Scarlett sing instead which pissed off Oliver Hudson big time. The label got a stylist for Scarlett which I was hoping would be a good thing, but they made her look like she personally put the HO in Hoedown. UGH I hated what she looked like. Bummed that Kim Paisley's entire storyline has to do with Teddy. I love her and hate him so I didn't care at all when he told her he wants to be with her and the baby. Last but not least was poor old Gunnar and his personal pity party. Feeling bad for himself that Will and Scarlett are up on stage and he's not. Waaaa Gunnar.

NEWS & INFORMATION

-The O'Connell Jinx is alive and well...We Are Men is now the second official cancellation of the Fall Primetime Season and another one cancelled after only 2 episodes. I have no idea how much it costs to green light a primetime show, but really...just ask us!  Do what Amazon did...let us vote! I screened many of the Primetime shows for 40 people in August and I knew just from that what would do well and what wouldn't.  Let viewers help you guys.  I guarantee you will save a TON of dough!!!  I enjoy Jerry O'Connell but if your an actor or actress out there and you get cast in a Jerry O'Connell project make sure you get paid in advance!!!

-Some cool Scandal premiere episode info:

  • Total Viewer Multiplatform delivery was 10.5 million viewers. This included Live + Same day viewing. Timeshifted viewers in days 1-3 added 2.8 million viewers. The Tuesday encored delivered another 3 million viewers and the episode was viewed 1.4 million times on the ABC FEP and Hulu in its first 5 days.
  • Scandal's total multiplatform viewing grew 91% over last years season premiere.
  • Without the inclusion of the encore, Scandal grew 51% on TV and online viewing tripled! Up 186%
  • Socially, Scandal delivered 713,000 tweets  which was the highest social delivery to date and the highest for any broadcast series telecast this season.  The premiere was up 22% from May's season finale and 714% from last fall's premiere. The premiere was  the #1 broadcast social show for the week.
-Bummer for Jon Stewart, but maybe a good thing for all of us, Rory Albanese, The Daily Show's writer and showrunner is leaving the show after 10 years. He's sold a project to CBS and will be throwing his hat (or keyboard) into the broadcast comedy arena. Good Luck Rory, we can always use a GOOD comedy.  How about one about a really funny guy on a fake news show who decides to go into the real news business or something?  That's not a bad idea.

-I may not be loving The Originals, but a lot of people did watch it. Tuesday nights premiere of the show in it's regular time period delivered huge increases vs. year ago for the CW. 1.9 milllion viewers tuned in which is a 14% increase. The big difference though is against the demos. The Originals was up 60% against A18-34, 57% in W18-34 and 80% in A18-49 and 71% in W18-49. Good news all around.  Fingers crossed that it stays that way.

I knew this Twitter thing was going to continue to make news and evolve. Comcast and Twitter announced a pretty cool social TV partnership. Comcasts engineers have created a cool new feature called "See It" that will give its Xfinity TV customers the ability to instantly access TV shows, movies and sports directly from a Tweet.  If you have Comcast as your cable provider, starting in November, you'll be able to do this. I hope Cablevision is watching...they've given me nothing in years except a bigger bill.

-A&E's getting a makeover and a new "Be Original" tagline. I have no idea what their old tagline is but if it makes them happy...I'm all for it.

Survivor
What a crazy good, crazy juicy episode of Survivor. Didn't expect it to get so intense this early on in the game. First off,  I'm totally baffled by the weather on Survivor this season. Colton was wearing layers at the same time that Aras was wearing nothing but a pair of shorts. All the women of Tadhana's headlights were on in one scene but the guys were still wearing next to nothing. Is it hot or cold? During the Redemption duel, Jeff said it was 114 degrees. Huh?  Jeff and I were both disgusted with Colton's behavior. Within the first 6 minutes of the show, Colton broke down in tears and quit the game because his team wouldn't play his way.Wahhhhhh!  Jeff was so angry, he even revealed that Colton's appendicitis incident in the last game he played was bogus...I KNEW IT! What was even more bizarre was Colton's boyfriend's reaction. No reaction. Hugged him, said I love you and then said goodbye. Whatever dude. There are a ton of people DYING to play the game, Colton ruined it for them twice. Candice and Marissa won the duel and Tyson's wife Rachel went home. Didn't we love Gervaise all the other times he's played the game? Why does he bug the bleep out of me now? Candice's win got John the second immunity idol clue which he sort of told Brad about, but he wouldn't let Brad look for it with him. Bad move bud. During the head to head sumo battle immunity/reward challenge it was the Mom's against the daughters and brother against brother. This spin on things is just really turning the game upside down. Hayden popped out Tyson's shoulder but he put it in a sling and hung in there. That's a real Survivor, Colton. Once Tadhana lost and knew they were going back to Tribal,  Brad turned on John really fast.  While he did get ultra aggressive to make the blind side go down, he himself almost became the target himself. In the end it was John sent to Redemption Island to make Marissa feel like a third wheel. At first I thought John and Candice would try to get their thing on but they both probably smell disgusting...so I discarded that idea. Next week, they'll go head to head at the duel which will be interesting. Great twist this season.

Back in the Game
Hate to say it, but this shows cute. I really like it and I SO didn't want to. A  bit predictable and then not so much. Of course I knew the second that James Caan wouldn't let anyone in the secret bedroom that it was his dead wife's room and it was in perfect shape and not in disarray like he told Terry and Danny. I mean anyone who is a TV expert would know that.  Of course, I  knew that Terry would eventually end up working for Dick, the d*ck. What I didn't see coming was The Cannon's strategy for scaring the boys into staying in the batter's box...PRISON! Yep, he brought the boys to prison to have the criminals help him out and guess what...it worked. Nobody's hitting the ball yet, but at least they're stayin in there and some are even swinging. Didn't appreciate The Cannon's pit stains...can we do something about that writers? Nobody likes to see anyone with embarrassing wet stains.  Just sayin.

Modern Family
Another good one. That's 2 in a row. Gloria thought baby Joe was possessed with her families curse so she brought in a priest to perform some sort of exorcism or something. Cam was in charge of wedding planning and was torn between two florists: Floral & Hardy and Florist Gump. I don't know why I found that SO hilarious but I did. More hilarious was Jay's line about soccer. Gloria mentioned she had an uncle that fixes soccer games. Jay asked if "by fix you mean picking the ball up and throwing it down the field cause that's the only way to fix soccer". OMG that had all 3 of us hysterical (we hate soccer). Cam thought Lily's cat Larry had died and lied about it, but then Larry showed up. Cam came up with a crazy story that Larry's cat wife had died so they had to have a funeral. That was a bit nutty, but Mitchell getting stuck in the vent at the office because of his OCD was even more insane. Those two are definitely made for each other.  Phil discovered an untapped client base in newly divorced woman. Unfortunately all the work with these women and their families was screwing up his own. Of course Claire to the rescue. I hate to say this, I actually can't believe I'm typing this, but Luke's teenage awkward growth spurt has made him pass Lily on the annoying meter for me. I can actually tolerate Lily on screen now, but Luke...not so much anymore. Sorry buddy.  These years are tough.

Super Fun Night
I was out at the 4 minute mark

Nashville
How GOOD is Nashville? Juliette Barnes was on Conan to promote her album and Conan held up an actual ALBUM...other than Baba Booey and his pieces of vinyl gang, whose out there buying actual albums anymore? Anyway, back to business. Rayna came home from the hospital after nearly dying and she was at a business meeting minutes later. Guess shes not worried about Obamacare. Her record company was bought out and now Oliver Hudson, playing a totally different guy than Adam on Rules of Engagement, is in charge. In addition tovstealing his former castmates name, he stole Will from Rayna by threatening to out him.  Jeff's not into Rayna's new stuff and he doesn 't seem in to Juliette at all. He's got the new hot young "music show winner" on his label covering Juliette's song and that REALLY pissed her off. I sense a major showdown on the horizon between the girls and Jeff. Should be super juicy.  Deacon's bummin big time. The accident messed up his hand and he's in a pretty "woe is me" state, but then Scarlett yelled at him, Rayna called it off for good and he cut off his cast and started trying to play. OUCHHHHH. I love every single thing that Juliette wears. Did you catch that awesome white sweater? If I had that technology to click on it and buy it like they keep telling us we will, I'd have snapped that sucker up in a heartbeat.

NEWS & INFORMATION

-ABC's mediocre drama, Motive, has been renewed. I have no recollection of this show whatsoever do you? Without cheating...who starred in it? 5 bonus points.

-When Wilfred returns for its 4th and final season, it's moving over to FXX in case you're wondering. I don't think that there's any DVR out there that switches networks automatically, so if you have a Season Pass, you may need to reset it  to make sure you don't miss an episode.

-Tonight is the season premiere of Scandal and normally I'd be ecstatic, but, it's up against Parenthood. I'm going to watch Scandal live and DVR Parenthood. I'll get up at the crack of dawn to watch Parenthood on Friday AM though...I promise.

Anyony not on the Scandal bandwagon . You should be. Breaking Bad is over and Scandal should be on your radar. ABC is running a review for all you newbies at 8 tonight and here 's a great cheat sheet to help.
http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/10/scandal-relationships-cheat-sheet-an-infographic.html

I still can't get the What I'm Watching or the Premieres sections to work. Tonight is BRUTAL for me.
Vampire Diaries, and Parks & Rec at 8pm
Glee and The Originals at 9pm
Parenthood and Scandal at 10pm
Well, at least I'll have options for Friday night!
