Let me just set the stage...We have no power here in Tenafly NJ.  No cable either.  We have a generator, a mifi, and a digital TV antenna...so net net, we are doing just fine.

Other than Sandy news and updates yesterday, we watched the last two Knockout rounds on The Voice.  This time it was team Farmer Xtina.  With her pigtails and red flannel shirt tied way up high, Xtina looked like she could milk some cows, harvest some corn and mentor her team.  Devon beat Laura, Adriana beat Toyota Celica, Dez beat Alessandra, D'borah beat Shavonne and Sylvia beat Aquil.   Knockout round for Team Blake started with Liz beating Gracia, Terry beating Rudy, Michaela beating Colin, Julio beating Marissa Ann, and ended with Cassadee beating Suzannah.  Live shows begin next week.

Ed Ziskind, our DWTS correspondent is safe and sound and able to watch and file this report:

First and foremost, I’m going to say something that for some reason, Tom Bergeron and the producers of DWTS didn’t think needed to be said.  My best wishes and prayers go out to everyone who was affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Last week, there was no elimination.  There were the usual couple dances, along with a freestyle team competition.  This week’s Country Music Week dances were added to last week’s scores.

Sabrina and Louis ended last week on top and scored a perfect 30 this week, giving them a combined total of 88.5.  Apolo and Karina also scored a perfect 30 in week two and ended up in second place overall (86.5).  Right behind them for the two week total, with a virtual perfect 30 (29.5) for their Country Music dance, was Melissa and Tony (86.0).  It was a great surprise that these three couples ended the night “in jeopardy”.

It came down to Apolo and Karina, and Sabrina and Louis, as the two couples “in jeopardy” but not necessarily receiving the lowest combined judges + audience vote scores.  I’m not sure why Apolo and Karina should be kept in jeopardy if it was really (e.g.) Kirstie and Maks with the lowest combined scores – other than the dramatic effect I suppose of showing the top three scorers in jeopardy, which really doesn’t seem fair.

Sabrina and Louis were sent packing.  This was the same week of competition that Sabrina went home last time around.  Blame it on a week six jinx?  Or the fact that the East Coast didn’t see the show nor vote?  Or better yet, on Louis’ oddly shaped head?  Whatever the cause, it was as much of a surprise this season as in her original season 5, since she not only was on top of the leaderboard, but also scored a perfect 30 last night after dedicating her dance to a former drug addicted boyfriend.

Next week should be fun.  Derek Hough is injured, so Mark Ballas will dance with ex-partner and ex-girlfriend Shawn Johnson in his place.  And professional dancer Maks, formerly engaged but no longer even speaking to fellow pro Karina, will be dancing the quick step with his partner Kirstie – a dance she’s not so good at, that Karina picked for him.
Thanks Ed!

I read yesterday that Disney purchased LucasFilm for 4.05 billion dollars and that there would be a new Star Wars movie in 2015.  Kathleen Kennedy who is currently the co-chair of LucasFilm will be the President of LucasFilm and report to Disney head Alan Horn...no idea at all what happens to George Lucas.

Wednesday's Trivia Question: In last week's Modern Family Halloween episode, what was Claire Dunphy's costume?
