Beginning on Sunday morning my family, I'm sure like most of you, got out and shopped for supplies to insure we were prepared for Hurricane Sandy.  We got our Mallomars, ice cream, chocolate covered pretzels, beer, milk and eggs and then we began our hibernation. It started with the Jets debacle and then the Giants win and then it was time for Sunday night Prime.

Is it me, or are the shows getting a bit complicated and hard to understand? You really need full concentration for Once Upon a Time and Revenge these days.  I hope I got it all...

On Once Upon a Time, Cora ripped every ones hearts out and left Hook alive and well so he could hook up with Emma, Snow and Mulan.  Emma didn't believe Hook's story and she was right to trust her instincts. They tied Hook up and were going to leave him to be eaten by Ogre's (not the Shrek kind) and of course, he started flapping his gums. Hook convinced them that if they got an enchanted compass (that only he can help them find) he could lead them out of the portal before Cora.  So where is this enchanted compass?  It's at the top of the beanstalk, which looks like it could take years to climb.  So that's what's going on in current Fairytale land.  Then in the past, we continued to learn just how mean Rumplestilskin is.  He's really the one responsible for teaching Regina how to be evil.  She wasn't born with the ability to rip people's hearts out...he taught her this lovely skill.  We also learned that when Regina came to Storybrooke she packed up all of those hearts she ripped out and brought them with her.  I wonder which moving company she used? The mad scientist/wizard guy took one and put one in Daniel's body, but there was a glitch...Daniel became a really bad actor...I mean monster that Regina had to finally let go which I think will only make her more evil.  Now she has nothing but Henry to live for.  But the wizard/mad scientist guy appears to be Dr. Frankenstein...I think.  I'm not sure anymore.  I thought it was only fairytale characters in Storybrooke and on this show but now, since the shows a hit and they have to write 22 episodes a season, I guess the show is open to any character in literature???  I have no idea.  Thoughts???

On Revenge I was really trying hard to concentrate...I mean REALLY hard.  So here is what I took away from the episode.  Again, let me know if I missed something, because honestly, I'll be shocked if I got it all.
1) Amanda Clarke's mother is Cara Clarke
2) Jennifer Jason Leigh is an amazing actress because Cara Clarke is NOTHING like Jill from Weeds
3) Albino Gordon (former head of CTU) was Cara Clarke's husband or boyfriend
4) Victoria almost used rose cutting shears as a murder weapon
5) Victoria is apparently very used to people coming back from the dead, I mean she herself recently pulled this stunt, so I guess she assumes that most people fake their own death.
6) Victoria and Amanda/Emily will invite anyone to stay with them at the drop of a hat.
7) Nolan is definitely not gay at all anymore.  Not sure if he attended some sort of religious cleansing or not, but he's definitely into Padma.
8) Nolan's Dad dying isn't as important as Amanda's Dad dying
9) Padma is up to something which I thought from the beginning.
10) Mason Treadwell is a better reporter/researcher than we all thought.  He's back, he knows that Amanda isn't who she says she is and he's going to make trouble. He also knows how to whistle the song "Strangers in the Night"
11) The Grayson's are getting remarried purely so they don't have to testify against each other when THE INITIATIVE becomes part of the storyline.
12) The Grayson's may own part of Nolcorp??? WTF
11) Nolan's best line of the night: "I just became an uncle...a non uncle uncle like Kracker or Fester"  CLASSIC

How weird is it that the easiest show of the evening to understand was Homeland, a show about a terrorist? Wow, what a brilliant episode last nights was.  60% of it was the interrogation of Nicholas Brody.  If you've never seen amazing acting before, this was the finest I've seen in a long time.  Claire Danes was intense, but Damien Lewis didn't say much and yet we knew EVERYTHING he was feeling...well, what we wanted us to anyway.  So now, we THINK and HOPE that he's working for the CIA, and that is what he told his wife, but he didn't give up Roya, so I'm thinking he's still teetering on both sides of the fence.  While Brody was being broken down and stabbed, his daughter went on a date turned hit and run accident with the Vice President's son.  Loved Neon Trees "Everybody Talks" playing in the car while Brody's coming clean with his secrets and Dana begins having one pretty big one of her own.  Great TV.  Just great TV

On Friday night, Cablevision and Tribune finally came to terms and I GOT MY CW BACK!!!!! YEAH!!!!

Before the CW came back, I caught up on Hart of Dixie and The Vampire Diaries...

The Hart of Dixie is really getting hot and steamy. I'm not complaining...not at all.  Zoey and Wade have decided to try the "casual sex" routine, which is reason enough for Wade to be shirtless and Zoey to be in lingerie every week. Again, not complaining. Zoey assumed that Wade was only having casual sex with her, but when she saw a hot blonde going into Wade's place and a sock on the door knob, she was pissed and wanted to make him jealous.  The thing is...I don't think Wade gets jealous...ever.  So Zoey did what she does best, acted like an idiot, got herself into trouble, screwed over Lavon Hayes and came up with a new kind of deal for Wade...monogamous casual sex.  He's no fool, he took the deal.  When those two aren't going at, Lavon is running for re-election and Lemon is now his campaign manager.  Lemon thought she was preggers, stole a pregnancy kit and everyone thought Lavon Hayes was the thief because Ruby leaked the story to the newspaper.  I hate Ruby.  Meanwhile Brick and Magnolia have no clean clothes, are starving to death and can't seem to do anything at all now that Lemon moved out.  Now that I have my CW back, I won't have to make an appointment with my laptop for Hart of Dixie, I can watch it live...YEAH!

This new vampire hunter on The Vampire Diaries is sure causing a big problem for everyone, the news of his arrival traveled far enough to reach Klaus which was the perfect way to get him back to Mystic Falls...to protect his favorite hybrid, Tyler.  Elena is still a mess, And that still includes her clothes.  I think this episode she only ruined one outfit with blood, but as far as I know still no bloodstain specialists around. Apparently Jeremy's ability to see Conner's markings mean that Jeremy is meant to be a Vampire Hunter.  That's a bit of a problem since his sister, and all of his friends are Vampires.  I love love love this show, but I have to call the director our out on the cheesy motorcycle ride scene.  C'mon guys.  The shows a hit, either don't include the scene or do it right.  What they did do right this week was have Damon stripping down in front of Elena...that made up for the cheesy motorcycle scene so I guess all's good. Now it appears that Damon is going to teach Elena how to enjoy being a Vampire.  Like I continue to say...what is so bad about being a Vampire?  Not much really.

In the 2nd to last episode of Breaking Amish, Abe asked Rebecca to marry him with his $300 engagement ring by writing his proposal in the sand on Coney Island.  Once she said yes, all the secrets come out.  Rebecca and Abe knew each other before the show, Rebecca was married once before and has since gotten divorce. Jeremiah was also married before.  Abe and Jeremiah were furious when they found out that Rebecca didn't tell Abe that she was married before, but Rebecca could not understand why.  I couldn't understand what Rebecca couldn't understand this.  It's really weird, I don't like any of the cast, but yet, I can't stop watching the show.  So I guess I'm almost done. The finale and the 2 reunion specials and then...done.

I seem to be less active on Facebook these days, but doesn't look like I'm the norm...activity has been increasing steadily and is forecasted to continue to do so as per the eMarketer chart below.
Facebook Monthly Active Users and Mobile Active Users, 2011-2014 (millions and % of total)

Some interesting video consumption facts:

  • 181.4 million Americans watched more than 39.36 billion videos in September 2012
  • This equates to 216.9 videos and 1,399 minutes per viewer
  • Google had 150.3 million unique viewers
  • Yahoo had 57.4 million unique viewers
  • AOL had 53.8 million unique viewers
  • Vevo had 50.3 million unique viewers
  • Facebook had 46.4 million unique viewers

I know you will all be shocked, but I do read books sometimes.  I just finished a really good one for anyone really interested in TV.  Warren Littlefield wrote a book called Top of the Rock which is all about the inner workings of Must See TV in the 90's.  It was a really quick and VERY interesting read.  Lot's of inside scoop that any TV lover would thoroughly enjoy.

Monday's Trivia Question: We all know that Ian Sommerhalder played Boone on Lost.  What was Boone's sister's name?

I have no idea what the next few days holds in store for us all.  I hope you are safe at home with your families and are spared the effects of Hurricane Sandy.  If I can, I will post the blog, but who knows...Good Luck guys...stay safe!
