With Hurricane Sandy in full swing, I made a deal with my son and husband, that I got the first hour of TV and then we would switch to ESPN at 9pm, so I only got to see Team Adam's Knock Out round on The Voice.  The Battle Rounds and the Knock Out rounds are exactly the same, the only difference is that the contestants choose their own songs.  First round for Team Adam, Jocelyn vs Kayla.  Adam chose Jocelyn who he stole from Drooptina and this time, Kayla went home.
Joe and Brian were next and Adam chose Brian which was the right choice. After Joe went home, the next two singers from Team Adam to go up were Amanda and Michelle.  Amanda won but both she and Michelle were amazing.  Lauren vs Nicole and Melanie and Sam were the last two pairs for Team Adam. Lauren beat Nicole and I was truly shocked by Adam choosing Lauren. I don't like Melanie, never have, but everyone seems to really be into her and that included Adam who chose her instead of Sam. So there is Adam's final team.  While the performances were great, I was just happy to see our judges new outfits finally.  Athough Adam looked like he took his T-Shirt out of the rag pile and CeeLo wore a Dentist's jacket. Xtina wasn't so droopy last night in her gray striped sweater and Blake got my best dressed award in a jacket and checkered shirt.

The Married to Jonas season (hopefully not series) finale was pretty good.  Both families came together for the Jonas's first live show in 2 1/2 years at Radio City.  Kevin and Dani hosted a lovely dinner at their house where Danielle put floating candles in the swimming pool to impress her Mother In Law, but for some ridiculous reason decided against cloth napkins which we know her MIL has an issue with.  Mrs. Jonas paid Danielle quite a few complaints even though upon her arrival she presented her with two potted plants that are apparently known as Mother In Law Tongues.  I've never heard of these before.  The Jonas's performed their new song "Let's Go" to a sold out Radio City and the show was over.  I'll miss my Jo Bro's and Danielle's family, but hoping they come back soon!

Ice Loves Coco season premiere was next up for me.  Coco's fashion line LISCIOUS premiered on the season premiere and as always, Coco was freaking out, things weren't going as planned, Ice calmed her down, and everything was fine.  The Neiman Marcus buyer loved the line but not a clue if anyone actually purchased it.  Ice wants elevators for his cars in their new home which will delay construction by 5 months.  Coco's not happy but she's giving in I think.  Ice had a few good slogans for Coco such as "Worst First, Greater Later" followed by "If you love somebody they are not your enemy."  Ice rules.

I think I told you guys that I Tivo'ed a show on Discovery called Flipping the White House right?  Well, thanks to Hurricane Sandy, I got to watch it, but it STUNK!  Sorry Discovery, most of your shows are awesome but this one was so cheesy and repetitive it was ridiculous.  The show was filled with really old footage and a model of the White House using dollhouse furniture and toy trucks to represent the real thing.  It was a borefest.  What a bummer.

Sunday nights episode of Breaking Amish had all of the cast going back to their Amish families to reveal their decision as to whether or not they will continue to live in the Amish community or not.  Kate, the bishops daughter showed up in English clothes to let her family know that she was going to live an English life and follow her dream of being a model. (After seeing a dermatologist or a really great airbrusher). Her friends ran away from her and her family refused to see her.  Abe also elected to give up his Amish life.  His family did invite him in to their home,  but they made him sit at a separate tiny table to eat and then basically kicked him out. Rebecca also chose to leave her Amish life to be with Abe.  When she returned home her friends also ran away from her and her family had moved away. All of her stuff was gone.  Abe and Rebecca decided to move to Lancaster and plan their wedding.  They have no jobs or money or anything so I'm guessing TLC paid for the big ceremony.  Jeremiah was also turned away by his family when he returned home as well.   Abe asked Jeremiah to be his best man. Sabrina is the only one of the cast who returned to her Mennonite life.  We learned another big secret... she too had once been married.  Rebecca asked Sabrina to be her maid of honor.

I bet the people on Live (with) Kelly and Michael are bummed they didn't wait a tiny bit longer...Anderson Cooper is now available.  Anderson's daytime talk show will end after the current season.  Anderson was always amazing when he was on with Kelly and would have been one of my top 3 picks to take Regis's place.  Oh well, proof positive that timing is everything

Lots of hype over Jimmy Kimmel's shows from Brooklyn this week.  Unfortunately due to Hurricane Sandy, he had to cancel Monday nights show and most of the top networks decided to air re-runs on Monday night since most of the Eastern seaboard is dealing with Sandy.

ABC gave Scandal and The Neighbors full season orders.  Not surprised at all about Scandal...totally surprised by The Neighbors though.

Some good news for Pat, Vanna and Alex Trebek, who probably all have the best jobs ever. Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy were renewed through 2016.  All 3 of them have great gigs, but Vanna really lucked out.  No idea how much she makes to turn letters, but any amount of money is a bonanza in my book.

Tuesday's Trivia Question: Name the Sandy that took over for Valerie Harper on the show Valerie.

Beginning on Sunday morning my family, I'm sure like most of you, got out and shopped for supplies to insure we were prepared for Hurricane Sandy.  We got our Mallomars, ice cream, chocolate covered pretzels, beer, milk and eggs and then we began our hibernation. It started with the Jets debacle and then the Giants win and then it was time for Sunday night Prime.

Is it me, or are the shows getting a bit complicated and hard to understand? You really need full concentration for Once Upon a Time and Revenge these days.  I hope I got it all...

On Once Upon a Time, Cora ripped every ones hearts out and left Hook alive and well so he could hook up with Emma, Snow and Mulan.  Emma didn't believe Hook's story and she was right to trust her instincts. They tied Hook up and were going to leave him to be eaten by Ogre's (not the Shrek kind) and of course, he started flapping his gums. Hook convinced them that if they got an enchanted compass (that only he can help them find) he could lead them out of the portal before Cora.  So where is this enchanted compass?  It's at the top of the beanstalk, which looks like it could take years to climb.  So that's what's going on in current Fairytale land.  Then in the past, we continued to learn just how mean Rumplestilskin is.  He's really the one responsible for teaching Regina how to be evil.  She wasn't born with the ability to rip people's hearts out...he taught her this lovely skill.  We also learned that when Regina came to Storybrooke she packed up all of those hearts she ripped out and brought them with her.  I wonder which moving company she used? The mad scientist/wizard guy took one and put one in Daniel's body, but there was a glitch...Daniel became a really bad actor...I mean monster that Regina had to finally let go which I think will only make her more evil.  Now she has nothing but Henry to live for.  But the wizard/mad scientist guy appears to be Dr. Frankenstein...I think.  I'm not sure anymore.  I thought it was only fairytale characters in Storybrooke and on this show but now, since the shows a hit and they have to write 22 episodes a season, I guess the show is open to any character in literature???  I have no idea.  Thoughts???

On Revenge I was really trying hard to concentrate...I mean REALLY hard.  So here is what I took away from the episode.  Again, let me know if I missed something, because honestly, I'll be shocked if I got it all.
1) Amanda Clarke's mother is Cara Clarke
2) Jennifer Jason Leigh is an amazing actress because Cara Clarke is NOTHING like Jill from Weeds
3) Albino Gordon (former head of CTU) was Cara Clarke's husband or boyfriend
4) Victoria almost used rose cutting shears as a murder weapon
5) Victoria is apparently very used to people coming back from the dead, I mean she herself recently pulled this stunt, so I guess she assumes that most people fake their own death.
6) Victoria and Amanda/Emily will invite anyone to stay with them at the drop of a hat.
7) Nolan is definitely not gay at all anymore.  Not sure if he attended some sort of religious cleansing or not, but he's definitely into Padma.
8) Nolan's Dad dying isn't as important as Amanda's Dad dying
9) Padma is up to something which I thought from the beginning.
10) Mason Treadwell is a better reporter/researcher than we all thought.  He's back, he knows that Amanda isn't who she says she is and he's going to make trouble. He also knows how to whistle the song "Strangers in the Night"
11) The Grayson's are getting remarried purely so they don't have to testify against each other when THE INITIATIVE becomes part of the storyline.
12) The Grayson's may own part of Nolcorp??? WTF
11) Nolan's best line of the night: "I just became an uncle...a non uncle uncle like Kracker or Fester"  CLASSIC

How weird is it that the easiest show of the evening to understand was Homeland, a show about a terrorist? Wow, what a brilliant episode last nights was.  60% of it was the interrogation of Nicholas Brody.  If you've never seen amazing acting before, this was the finest I've seen in a long time.  Claire Danes was intense, but Damien Lewis didn't say much and yet we knew EVERYTHING he was feeling...well, what we wanted us to anyway.  So now, we THINK and HOPE that he's working for the CIA, and that is what he told his wife, but he didn't give up Roya, so I'm thinking he's still teetering on both sides of the fence.  While Brody was being broken down and stabbed, his daughter went on a date turned hit and run accident with the Vice President's son.  Loved Neon Trees "Everybody Talks" playing in the car while Brody's coming clean with his secrets and Dana begins having one pretty big one of her own.  Great TV.  Just great TV

On Friday night, Cablevision and Tribune finally came to terms and I GOT MY CW BACK!!!!! YEAH!!!!

Before the CW came back, I caught up on Hart of Dixie and The Vampire Diaries...

The Hart of Dixie is really getting hot and steamy. I'm not complaining...not at all.  Zoey and Wade have decided to try the "casual sex" routine, which is reason enough for Wade to be shirtless and Zoey to be in lingerie every week. Again, not complaining. Zoey assumed that Wade was only having casual sex with her, but when she saw a hot blonde going into Wade's place and a sock on the door knob, she was pissed and wanted to make him jealous.  The thing is...I don't think Wade gets jealous...ever.  So Zoey did what she does best, acted like an idiot, got herself into trouble, screwed over Lavon Hayes and came up with a new kind of deal for Wade...monogamous casual sex.  He's no fool, he took the deal.  When those two aren't going at, Lavon is running for re-election and Lemon is now his campaign manager.  Lemon thought she was preggers, stole a pregnancy kit and everyone thought Lavon Hayes was the thief because Ruby leaked the story to the newspaper.  I hate Ruby.  Meanwhile Brick and Magnolia have no clean clothes, are starving to death and can't seem to do anything at all now that Lemon moved out.  Now that I have my CW back, I won't have to make an appointment with my laptop for Hart of Dixie, I can watch it live...YEAH!

This new vampire hunter on The Vampire Diaries is sure causing a big problem for everyone, the news of his arrival traveled far enough to reach Klaus which was the perfect way to get him back to Mystic Falls...to protect his favorite hybrid, Tyler.  Elena is still a mess, And that still includes her clothes.  I think this episode she only ruined one outfit with blood, but as far as I know still no bloodstain specialists around. Apparently Jeremy's ability to see Conner's markings mean that Jeremy is meant to be a Vampire Hunter.  That's a bit of a problem since his sister, and all of his friends are Vampires.  I love love love this show, but I have to call the director our out on the cheesy motorcycle ride scene.  C'mon guys.  The shows a hit, either don't include the scene or do it right.  What they did do right this week was have Damon stripping down in front of Elena...that made up for the cheesy motorcycle scene so I guess all's good. Now it appears that Damon is going to teach Elena how to enjoy being a Vampire.  Like I continue to say...what is so bad about being a Vampire?  Not much really.

In the 2nd to last episode of Breaking Amish, Abe asked Rebecca to marry him with his $300 engagement ring by writing his proposal in the sand on Coney Island.  Once she said yes, all the secrets come out.  Rebecca and Abe knew each other before the show, Rebecca was married once before and has since gotten divorce. Jeremiah was also married before.  Abe and Jeremiah were furious when they found out that Rebecca didn't tell Abe that she was married before, but Rebecca could not understand why.  I couldn't understand what Rebecca couldn't understand this.  It's really weird, I don't like any of the cast, but yet, I can't stop watching the show.  So I guess I'm almost done. The finale and the 2 reunion specials and then...done.

I seem to be less active on Facebook these days, but doesn't look like I'm the norm...activity has been increasing steadily and is forecasted to continue to do so as per the eMarketer chart below.
Facebook Monthly Active Users and Mobile Active Users, 2011-2014 (millions and % of total)

Some interesting video consumption facts:

  • 181.4 million Americans watched more than 39.36 billion videos in September 2012
  • This equates to 216.9 videos and 1,399 minutes per viewer
  • Google had 150.3 million unique viewers
  • Yahoo had 57.4 million unique viewers
  • AOL had 53.8 million unique viewers
  • Vevo had 50.3 million unique viewers
  • Facebook had 46.4 million unique viewers

I know you will all be shocked, but I do read books sometimes.  I just finished a really good one for anyone really interested in TV.  Warren Littlefield wrote a book called Top of the Rock which is all about the inner workings of Must See TV in the 90's.  It was a really quick and VERY interesting read.  Lot's of inside scoop that any TV lover would thoroughly enjoy.

Monday's Trivia Question: We all know that Ian Sommerhalder played Boone on Lost.  What was Boone's sister's name?

I have no idea what the next few days holds in store for us all.  I hope you are safe at home with your families and are spared the effects of Hurricane Sandy.  If I can, I will post the blog, but who knows...Good Luck guys...stay safe!

Big Brother Bullets:
  • Can't the Big Bro producers provide waterproof mascara to idiot Danielle?
  • Loved Danielle's version of he "Fool me once, Fool me twice, Fool me three times mantra...yes Danielle...fool you three times and you are a dumb ass!
  • At least the giant pimple on Danielle's forward cleared up in time for the finale.
  • Ian's walking around, quacking to himself...is that part of his OCD or is he odder than I thought?
  • I can't believe they are prolonging the show with clips and flashbacks at this point
  • 3 minutes before the end of the show they run the beginning of the last HOH endurance competition...c'mon CBS...total bullish*t!
Over on Real Housewives of NJ,  the  entire episode was filled with a whole lot of awkward.  The Manzo's all having brunch together with Albie's girlfriend...awkward.  The Wakile's meeting with the Bindi food executives...awkward.  The Gorga's meeting with record execs at The Russian Tea Room of all places? AWKWARD!  Playdate at Theresa's house...awkward. Ashley and Jaqueline Skyping...awkward.   I can't  stand Kim D from Posche. What was with the Metro Pools tank top?  I don't know if it was a set up or what, but  the entire scene at the Allure salon was just bizarre and...AWKWARD.  Kim D is such a troublemaker and kept pushing and pushing for Angelo to fork over the details of when Melissa "worked" for him as a "dancer" at a "gentleman's club".  Theresa it played off like she was uncomfortable and didn't want to hear it, but she didn't have the camera's turned off either. If that wasn't enough super awkward moment when Angelo and Melissa "bump" into each other at the fashion show.  Looks like all hell breaks loose on next weeks finale episode.  Of course it does.

This weeks Married to Jonas left me with the same question it leaves me with every time I watch it.  What is it about Dani that made Kevin Jonas fall so hard for her?  Yes she is cute, has a great body knows how to dress and a great appreciation for capri pants, but she's also, anxious, nervous, uncomfortable, and she lacks confidence which is amazing to me.  If I was able to meet, date and marry a Jo Bro, I think I'd be pretty impressed with myself.  Dani isn't at all. She practices what to say at parties, takes classes on how to pose for photo shoots and really seems to be a bundle of nerves most of the time.  This week Kevin and Dani posed for Social Life magazine and they were supposed to host a big party in the Hamptons but Dani got into a car accident and got banged up a bit so they had to cancel.  Prior to all of that, Kevin Jonas Sr. was honored as Father of the Year by the Diabetes foundation. Mrs. Jonas was wearing black leather gloves to the event.  It looked really weird, but since she is the epitome of confidence, I'm guessing she knows what she's doing and honestly even if she didn't, I wouldn't mess with her, she seems like she would kick my butt if she didn't like what I thought or said about her.  I had no idea that Nick Jonas has Type 1 Diabetes and has since he was a kid.  No capri pants this week for Kevin, which honestly was a bit of a relief, I really find it hard to concentrate when he wears them.

Breaking Amish is just too crazy to not watch.  This week the cast left their homes and headed to NYC for sensory overload.  Everything was new and overwhelming to them.  Just seeing them explore their hotel room, the elevator, the gym and the city streets was amusing.  If it were me, the first thing I would do is lose the awful, drab weird clothes and hats and try to fit in a bit, but maybe the producers need them to wear their Amish garb for the show? One of the girls on the show has false teeth and she hides them in her head covering. False teeth freak me out.  I felt like gagging when they showed them. The cast learned about junk food and alcohol pretty quickly.  That's the bulk of what they've done since being away from home.  I know I said I was hoping to forget about this show, but...I just couldn't.  The Amish are fascinating.

This week's episode of Tanked featured one of my favorite TV guys, Neil Patrick Harris.  I'm not sure if you guys are aware, but in addition to all of his other great talents, NPH is a pretty decent magician and the President of the Academy of Magical Arts. Sure it sounds like something from Harry Potter, but basically it's the governing body of magicians around the country.  Anyway...Neil asked Brett and Wayde, my favorite aquarium builders, to build a tank for the Magic Castle in Los Angeles.  They did an amazing job as always. Check it out in this photo!  It's a Houdini Water Torcher replica!  Way cool.  There was also a sub story about some magical person who was able to get into Wayde's office even though the door was locked. It drove Wayde so crazy that he set up a camera to find out who the culprit was...turns out it was the cat who was able to open the door from the inside.  Pretty hilarious actually.  I love Tanked, glad to know I'm in good company.

Looks like American Idol finally has their judges locked in for this season.  Randy Jackson is sticking around and there will be 3 new judges, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. I can only imagine how early the hair, makeup and wardrobe teams will have to be at the studio to get these women put together for the show every week.   I already feel bad for Keith Urban.  Between Mariah and Nicki,  Keith could may never get a word in.  Either way, I think it could be good TV don't you?

I checked out the first 25 minutes of the Season 2 premiere episode of Homeland over the weekend...can't wait to see the rest of it.  Even the first 25 minutes gets your blood flowing, of course the clip left me hanging, like any awesome clip should.  If you want to watch it, here's the link.  If you want to wait until 9/30...I respect that.  Just trying to get you all psyched for it.

Every time I watch Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, all I think about is that none of these guys have ever, sat in an office, or worked normal hours, or had a boss, or struggled with the copy machine or anything.  They pretty much hang out all day making each other laugh and then hang out at night  and make the public laugh.  While I completely understand that it takes work, talent, practice etc.  It's gotta be a decent life once you start making some money. Really funny Downton Abbey mention in this one.

I love a good Infographic.  This one has nothing to do with TV, but since I  love music and thought this was was fun stuff, I had to share.   Just goes to show that we aren't that different from one another all around the world:

Monday's Trivia Question: I've had quite a few requests for Saved by the Bell Trivia.  Since I didn't watch that one, I asked for some help this week. Thank you to Heather Sparks...she is this week's Saved by the Bell Guest Trivia Contributor:  Here's the question: Jessie, Lisa & Kelly formed their own singing group. What was it called?
