Goodbye Chris Trager and Ann Perkins...hope it's not forever

THE ANSWER TO THURSDAY'S TRIVIA QUESTION:  The coldest outdoor Superbowl, prior to Sunday, took place in New Orleans where the temperature was 39 degrees. I'm hoping we don't shatter that record this week.

THE SHOWS

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
When the only interesting things about Tina Fey are that she doesn't drive, doesn't have keys to her own apartment and is completely in charge of all feces in her home, normally you'd think the episode would suck. Not when Jerry's driving. Cool car, cool scenery, funny observations, cereal puff milkshakes and a hilarious product placement  were enough to save this weeks installment of CiCGC. I really thought Tina would be funnier, more interesting and less "opaque".  I wonder if Jerry thought that too.  Last week Todd Barry made Jerry work, but this week I think he had to work a bit harder. In one scene it seemed like there might have even been some awkward silence.  See what you think. I'd still watch the episode, just to appreciate how good Jerry is at pulling it all together.

Parks and Recreation
This was it...Ann Perkins and Chris Trager said goodbye to Pawnee forever. Of course Leslie threw the best farewell party for Ann Perkins, because that's what Leslie Knope does. A years worth of holidays and birthdays all in one party. Great idea if anyones got an unlimited budget and a great party planner. Doesn't Rashida Jones look way too good pregnant? I guess fake pregnancy's the way to go. No swelling, no stretchmarks and no baby. Leslie made a crazy amount of scrapbooks to send Ann on her way with. 25 points if you know how many. Chris Trager was channelling his inner Elaine Benis and dancing to a great tune at the party. Another 25 points if you can name the song. Chris had crazy thoughtful parting gifts for the guys who had only a gift card to a Pot & Pan store for him. Didn't matter though, heartfelt goodbyes were handed out across the board to everyone. I thought once the tears started that I'd cry too, but not one tear from me. Not sure why. I guess I'm assuming and hoping that Chris and Ann bring their baby back to meet the gang one of these days. I'll liTrally (I know it's spelled wrong, but that's how Chris says it) miss Rob and Rashida each and every week, but life in Pawnee does go on.

SNL Sports Spectacular
Lorne and the SNL gang are apparently in Superbowl spirit mode. They went back to the archives and pulled a lot of great clips featuring sports stars together to celebrate the big game. I'd seen most of the skits before. Some were worth watching again, like the Tim Tebow/Jesus/Bears skit or the Maya Rudolph National Anthem one, but there were a few I had never seen before. I don't remember why, but I had never seen the Peyton Manning episode and his skits WERE super funny. Also a realllly old one featuring a very young Ray Romano and Tim Meadows doing Sportcenter.   Loved David Spade as Scott Hamilton and forgot how hilarious Chris Farley was with Nancy Kerrigan. Really great compilation actually.

Vampire Diaries
You'd think that being immortal would be relatively easy, but there seems to be all these downsides to being a vampire. I mean, sure, you can't get in to every party unless the host is conveniently located near the door, and sure you have to kill people if you don't have access to a blood bank. Oh and there's that vervane thing, werewolves, certain wood spears, hybrids, vampire hunters and witches to contend with. Once you have all that handled and have mastered the vampire life there's now a new curve ball...travellers. Can we EVER just have a party in Mystic Falls where the guys take their shirts off and make out with the girls? Soooo much drama! I thought I was in the clear with all the doppelgangers out of the picture...not when Julie Plec has her way. We're still dealing with this Katherine/Elena madness. I for one, don't like it. One other thing, how do all these fireplaces and candles get lit all the time without someone scrambling for matches or wood or anything. Is it all magic even when there aren't witches around. Vampires can't light things up on their own can they? Net/Net Katherine's in Elena's body, and this guy Enzo's back to get Damon back into killer mode and Tyler's pissed that Caroline slept with Klaus. Of course the shows good, but sometimes I'd just like to go old school.

Nashville
Now FINALLY, Scarlett's getting interesting. I was sort of hoping that Liam would lay down more than just her vocal tracks, but maybe that'll come in time. Must be fun when two superstars date. Luke got Rayna on a Nascar CAR, into the garage and onto the track to help promote her new album. That's the kind of thing I just can't make happen for my car loving husband. What I can do though, is take a page from the Juliette Barnes cookbook...pasta and ketchup! I actually used to LOVE that when I was little. Funny that's the dinner that she finally seduced Avery with. Sam Boone was supposed to be Sam Walton from Walmart right? Nice little statement made there about how artists are treated in those stores huh? Loved that Layla is basically a body filled with nothing. No thoughts of her own, nothing to put down on paper at all. In a town where making music seems so easy, must be a real bummer when you can't write a song at all. Coupla good cameos, Brad Paisley and Austin Dillon. I guess now that Kim's home again, Brad can repay the favor to the producers for giving his wife a job for a while.

THE OTHER STUFF

Everyone keeps talking about this Seinfeld reunion. Hoping it's just a Superbowl commercial or Jerry's getting a limo and throwing the entire cast into it for an Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee "very special episode".

I'm not doing Black Sails on Starz. I think I mentioned that pirates aren't my thing, but if you're feeling the need to binge the show. No worries, Starz will be running a on March 15th that will end with the season finale. I'll remind you again in March.

Puppy Bowl, Kitten Bowl or Fish Bowl? Which one you watching?

Top Chef fans, good news, 12th season's a go.

Banshee fans, also good news, season 3's a go.

Friday's Trivia Question: This question came in from Bob Kaplan over at CBS. I loved it so much that I pre-empted James's other questions. Thanks Bob! Prior to 2014, name the last 5 Super Bowl Halftime performers.

Have a great weekend, enjoy the game and the commercials!
